  1. How many wasted, paid for man hours do you think it took to work out the prototype? God bless that plucky office worker and their half-blind supervisor!
  2. Granted it’s a REALLY STUPID name, but finger exercises for piano students have been around forever.
  3. Silver Age Hawkman used to work that way. The anti-grav harness was for lift, and the wings were for control.
  4. I agree, there’s some Murphy’s law kind of thing that says the longer a sit-com goes on the more the characters turn into caricatures of themselves. Look at Al Bundy in the first episode of Married with Children versus the last. Most shows are more subtle but the law still holds.
  5. I’ve been thinking, Milburn Drysdale may have gotten a bad rap. He took the Clampetts money and make investments for them that multiplied their fortunes many times over. Buying the movie studio for example. There was an episode where a group of wealthy investors were following Jed around for financial advice never believing Milburn when he said HE made all the investments. Jed would say something about “good stock in Texas” referring to cattle and they’d run off to buy oil futures. Maybe the old man got lucky, but he did run one of the biggest banks in Beverly Hills before the Clampetts ever struck oil.
  6. I think it’s just the fact that some people are stupid. These rumors go back to when I was a kid, long before that movie was made. These folks just hear some odd rumor, it sticks in their little pea sized brain and they convince themselves that not only did it actually happen, but that they themselves saw it. To your other point...I agree, Auto Focus was a very interesting movie. Greg Kinnear is a much better actor than he’s generally given credit for, and Willam DeFoe (I have no idea if I spelled his name right) once again did a magnificent job portraying a creepy reptile that walks like a human being. He and James Woods should go into business together.
  7. I want a DM to use that sometime just to see the players faces. Hell!....Just use a Magic 8 Ball to decide all the dice rolls for a night.
  8. I just found out about the latest Space X’s explosion. This entry is currently in bad taste even by my standards.
  9. Cool! Ultra-rich 1% douchebags die in space and the rest of us can divvy up their stuff! EAT THE RICH!!!! BECAUSE THE POOR ARE TOUGH AND STRINGY!!!!!! I just wrote that and realized it’s not true anymore. Nowadays, the poor all have diabetes and no muscle tone. The rich are all like Kobe beef, the poor are like canned hams. So still....eating the rich is the way to go. Bon Appetite!
  10. It’s not your fault for missing two books. Butcher put Battle Ground out only a couple of months after Peace Talks hit the stands. I described it as kind of like when they film both parts of a big movie at the same time and release them a year apart. You’ll love them. I was going to wait another moth or so and pick them both up at once but I saw that someone had put the entire audiobook for PT out on YouTube. Since I’m without doubt going to purchase them both, I didn’t feel bad about getting this taste for free. If anything it’s going to accelerate my picking up both books now that I have to know what happens. “Hey kid, the first hit’s free.”
  11. I’m not saying you can’t do it, but if I were the GM, I’d ask “So how is this limiting you?” If you didn’t have an good answer...
  12. Thanks, it seemed so obvious to me the first second I heard about it, I figured the ‘net would be up in arms...but nothing.
  13. Have you read Battle Ground yet? Like his other book Changes, I don’t see how things could NOT turn out irrevocably different. Like the day after Pearl Harbor different. Isn’t it cool?!?
  14. I’m starting to picture this kid as Natalie Portman in The Professional/Leon. When the Sidhe Lady gets done with her training I’m seeing that creepy assassin kid on The Watch. Kind of a Wednesday Addams with matching knives. I get a better handle on characters when I can picture an actor playing them.
  15. For all the pro and con about this season of ST: Discovery, nobody has seemed to notice that the storyline went to one about a starship from long ago before the Galactic Dark Age has come to restore the peace and values of its long lost union of planets.... IT’S GENE RODDENBERRY’S: ANDROMEDA!!!!!! THEY RIPPED OFF THEIR OWN CREATOR!!!!!!!!
  16. I tried looking up PP porn on the internet.....you don’t want to do that. I think I ended up on a government list.
  17. I once used the term “shelf porn” to describe a buddy’s new acquisition of some Star Wars figures he was putting on his bookshelf with pride. His wife hated that term with the fire of a thousand suns, and let me know it. She went on at length saying that men would spend their money on any stupid thing, even if they couldn’t ever touch it. She was even more unhappy when without a word, I walked her over to the six foot tall, glass and mirrored display case for her ceramic Pocket Dragons. I made a “Ta-Daaaa!” motion with a lot of Vanna White waving of hands. She is one of the smartest people I know, but it took her a disturbingly long time to get it.
  18. I’ve started getting into audiobooks. ( I know I’m late to the party) So I just finished Peace Talks by Jim Butcher. It’s part of the Dresden Files ( a long time favorite of mine) and it’s the first half of an incredible story that gets finished up in Battle Ground which I’ll be getting soon. The series is read by James Marsters who played Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It’s a good fit of actor and material and I’ve enjoyed it a lot.
  19. Wow dude....that’s cold.
  20. Personally, I’ve always liked the idea that the “Golden Age” (‘30’s thru WWII) was the time of pulp style “Masked Men” who had no powers except the VERY few with a slight mystic or psionic talent. The Silver Age which begins with the end of the war and the beginning of the Atomic Age brings the rise of paranormals, aliens and super-science. This gives a nice style break in the eras and a way of telling different types of stories based on the game. If a modern day team looks, is written up and acts just like a Golden Age one then what’s the difference?
  21. Never forget, all this this is only my opinion. I could certainly be full of crap. Maybe your suggestion will nudge someone into a wonderful response that will do massive good. An avalanche starts with a pebble. And I could be (and probably am) a sour old grump. Keep it up, you have every right to your perfectly reasonable question.
  22. No, leave it. I’d love to see somebody do something to keep this ship afloat. I just didn’t want you to feel rejected if you didn’t see much or any response to a perfectly fine idea. Let me take some heat if anybody’s out there. The “company” consists of a few people who are buried with their own real world concerns, with so many of the rights to the work scattered by past concerns and no real cash coming in that new output is limited to a few guys working on their own personal projects and they have no interest in working on anything that doesn’t either interest or profit them personally. So a lot of work going towards general building up for the future isn’t a priority. All that being said, everyone here is a decent, kind person, with good intentions. They rally around each other in bad times and are a lot of fun in the good ones. Also they’re the best source of information and council for playing in and running your own game. Please stick around and find out for yourself. Feel free to send me an E-mail on the system if you want. Tjack.
