  2. Foxbat on the 4th of July Foxbat is offering his new book for $4.00 off on the 4th of July. "On this most important of dates in American history, it's a perfect time to reflect on the things that made this country great," says the presidential candidate. "A sense of adventure, cash in hand, and me: your friendly neighborhood Foxbat! So declare your independence from paying full retail price by saving $4 on the 4th, and buying this preemptive memoir and Champions adventure." The 100-page adventure is available from BlackWyrm Games. "I'm Foxbat, and I approve this message."
  3. Re: Jokes Q: Where would you find such a dog? A: Exactly where you left him.
  4. Re: Foxbat for President BlackWyrm had a successful convention at Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH. "Our newest gaming product was the Champions adventure Foxbat for President, and we sold around half of what we brought," says company leader Dave Mattingly. "And having the author on hand to sign copies was an added pleasure." Game sessions from the book were run as demos, with players either taking on the roles of the Champions or of Foxbat's "amazing friends" to fight against opponents such as professional assassins, strange undead, and sorcerous cultists. Jason Walters says, "Foxbat has a grand appeal in the Champions Universe, and is well-loved by fans. Even though his genre niche is, of course, being not at all loved by the superheroes." The author, Michael Satran tells us that, "This is my first publication, and I'm totally excited by it." Michael's infectious enthusiasm is evident in the Foxbat podcast interview. The BlackWyrm booth promoted the book with giveaways such as campaign buttons, brochures extolling the many virtues of Foxbat, and a drawing in which "voters" put their names on a "ballot" and threw them into Foxbat's Uncle Sam hat.

  6. Re: Another Egyptian She-King Yeah, that's the ticket!
  7. Re: Defender! He appears in his original form in Champions, and an updated form in Champions Universe 2.

  9. Re: Qwyjibo is up Monster Island introduces us to Qwyjibo, although his name was introduced to us over a decade ago in a Scrabble game between Bart and Homer.
  10. Re: Mummy from the Brendan Fraser movies. Psych Lim: Annoyed with Brendan Fraser Of course, that might be an Everyman Psych Lim in many games.
  11. Re: Foxbat for President The PDF is full color, but print is black and white. As for the timing on the sale, we were tying it to the Foxbat podcast. If our shopping cart had been set up to accept coupons, we'd have offered a coupon just to the podcast listeners, but rather than have our web programmer upgrade with a new module on a live database, we figured the best way to offer the discount was to spread it across the board in true Foxbatly fashion.
  12. Re: Foxbat for President Foxbat wants your vote so badly, he's offering her services as your next President for the amazing discount price of http://www.blackwyrm.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=54]$6.65 (that's a penny cheaper than the Beast!). For a limited time, you can pick up the pdf of Foxbat for President at one third off (which sort of describes Foxbat himself) its usual $9.95 price, in order to propel Foxbat to office more quickly. Even the best of supervillainous candidates need a bailout now and then. Check out the Foxbat podcast at http://atomicarray.com/foxbat-for-president-aa025
  13. Re: Jokes A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded: "Rome ? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty. You're crazy to go to Rome . So, how are you getting there?" "We're taking Continental," was the reply. "We got a great rate!" "Continental?" said the hairdresser. "That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome ?" "We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome's Tiber River called Teste." "Don't go any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks its gonna be something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump." "We're going to go to see the Vatican and maybe get to see the Pope." "That's rich," laughed the hairdresser. "You and a million other people trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it." A month later, the woman again in came for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome . "It was wonderful," explained the woman. "Not only were we on time on one of Continental's brand-new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot. And the hotel was great! They'd just finished a $5 million remodeling job, and now it's a jewel, the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner's suite at no extra charge!" "Well," muttered the hairdresser, "that's all well and good, but I know you didn't get to see the Pope." "Actually, we were quite lucky," said the woman. "As we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors one-on-one, and, if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me. Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me." "Oh, really! What did he say?"
  14. Re: Foxbat for President Soft cover is being printed now. We're taking preorders, and will ship them as soon as we get them, which we expect to be roughly two weeks (as soon as we get back from Origins). The interior artwork and the maps were done by this forum's very own Sketchpad!
  15. Foxbat has his the campaign trail, and his premptive memoir Foxbat for President has hit the bookstores. At 100 pages of Foxbatty goodness, the book contains characters, maps, plot seeds, twists and turns, stomach turns, and situations that are bizarrely dangerous and dangerously bizarre. The Mighty Foxbat is a loony supervillain, who never really hurts anyone in his strange plans. Now, he’s gotten enough signatures to allow him to run for the highest office in the land, still in his mask. While honored, the opportunity comes as a surprise to him. But then, who’s really behind it, and why? This is a Champions adventure for 4 to 8 players at 350 to 450 points. It requires the HERO System 5th Edition rulebook, as well as Conquerors, Killers, & Crooks, and DEMON: Servants of Darkness. Inside are detailed write-ups: * Leroy, the Exo-Skeleton Man * Harmonious Fist * Charly * Agents One, X, and Orange * Secret Service agents * the master villain behind it all Inside are useful maps: * a downtown street scene * a suburban home * a brownstone manor * a hospital * a prison yard * a large cavern The printed book retails for $19.95, and the PDF retails for $9.95.
  16. Re: Condiment King Variety is the ... something or other.
  17. Re: Kazei 5 Update The expected cost is around $30 to $40. It'll depend on the page count once it's all finalized.

  19. Re: Vaudevillain! Who doesn't come up with puns at the gaming table? I thought that was standard gamer etiquette. Hunted: MasterMime. Hunted: Possessed Ventriloquist Dummy. Hunted: Unknown - Third Base! Hunted: Pastor of Muppets. Hunted: Banana Cream Pie!
  20. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine All in favor, say "OOH! OOH! AAH! AAH!"
  21. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far I disagree. My group of 12 Champions characters has 1,800 points in Disads for my to choose from. My adventures write themselves, really.
  22. Re: Variable Bonus This sounds like the Analyze Skill might apply, at lower levels. Instead of buying a semirandom +1 to +4 OCV, you could buy Analyze Martial Style, or Analyze Social Circumstance, or Analyze Lucky Odds, or whatever was appropriate for your ability.
