  2. Re: Flash, Flash Defense, Cost Vs. Value The extra cost for additional senses is per die. So instead of a 12d6 Slight Flash, you would get the 7d6 combined Flash.
  3. Re: Seeking a character name for a Puerto Rican teleporter If he was called Shoop, he could hire Salt N Pepa to be his backup singers. I like "El Portador" better than just "Portador." Just don't call him "Mr. Portadorhead."
  4. Re: Seeking a character name for a Puerto Rican teleporter If a matador fights mats, does the portador fight the poor?
  5. Re: In the Gestalt Universe, The Superhero Ideal And there's an in-genre reason why Titan isn't out solving all of the world's problems, instead allowing other heroes to take care of things.
  6. Re: Name Something You'd Allow That The GM At The Convention Didn't That wasn't me. I've been doing this for 5 or 6 years now.
  7. Re: Jokes I wasn't sure how much money I had in my savings account, so I asked the teller to check my balance.
  8. Re: Name Something You'd Allow That The GM At The Convention Didn't Me, either. That's why I look over two dozen 350-point superheroes in my annual GenCon Bring Your Own Brick game. RPG01143, Friday 8/15, 8am-noon, Union Station Southern Room.

  11. Re: New Character: Lady Liberty Invincible. It's my favorite superhero musical comedy, with songs performed by Arkin and Lee, some of which were written by Rocky Horror's Richard "Riff Raff" O'Brien.

  18. Re: Your Dream Projects For Hero Books I don't know how the new licensing will work for 6th Edition. But if it works out, BlackWyrm could be willing to publish.

  20. Re: Dimension-Hopping with the Gods Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. We just finished playing. They appeared at Hecate's crossroads, each of which went nowhere (the guy with super-vision powers saw that way down in the distance of each road, was a "copy" of themselves talking to Hecate; distance and direction senses were also screwy). Hecate agreed to show them the way to Olympus if they each brought her a trophy head from a single beast. When the PCs agreed (actually the PC leader is the only one who could speak Ancient Greek), she pointed down one of the paths and said that it was the way to the Hydra's lair. While on the path, they discovered that some of their powers did not work -- flight and teleportation would not work, since if they ever left the path, they reappeared at the crossroads. Finally arriving at the Hydra's lair (which even special senses could not penetrate), the entered and fought the Hydra. The Hydra has nine heads that all could breathe fire, and huge wings. The big surprise was that the heads could detach on their own, and fly individually (still with fire-breathing and biting attacks). Thankfully, the team has a healer, since several folks took some BODY damage from the Hydra. But they eventually got it taken down (the martial artist alien dog got two Find Weaknesses on it, and really whomped). My favorite bit was the power-armored soldier with a choke hold on one of the Hydra necks. When they returned to Hecate with their Hydra head trophies -- one per PC (only nine of my players showed up today) -- she showed them another crossroad path that led to Olympus. At the base of Olympus, they met their former teammate Herculena, daughter of Zeus, and avatar of wrestling. (Herculena's player took a new job and hasn't been able to play for several months.) It seems she's been gone because she's working off a debt to Zeus. By becoming Olympus's "bouncer" for a year, she'll get Cerberus as a pet. The PCs had to choose a Champion to challenge her before they could get to Olympus. If the challenger won, the group could pass. If he lost, the group would be sent to a place they did not wish to go. The alien dog martial artist stepped forward as the challenger, but Herculena (as the challengee) got to choose the terms. She choose a grappling contest (grabs, throws, no punches). By the way, Herculena's got a 60 STR with Martial Grab, Martial Throw, and Crush. If she got a grab on the dog, he'd be toast. Any of the PCs would be, actually. But while Herculena was explaining the rules, Rex the Wonder Dog found weakness on her three times. With his superior CSLs, and alternating Dodges and Bites, he was able to really put a hurting on her (but not quite Stun her, thanks to her Damage Reduction) while she still couldn't land a solid grab on him. After a while of that, one of the players got the idea to help Herculena by attacking Rex -- which would disqualify Herculena from the contest, by a strict interpretation of that rules that she'd given earlier. So, once Rex was close enough to the edge of the ring, Eclipse attacked him, and Herculena allowed them to go see Zeus, which is where we ended for the night.
  21. The superhero team in my campaign just dimension traveled to "mirror world" to rescue one of their members. Now, instead of getting right back home, they're going to get lost for a few sessions, in sort of a Sliders/Stargate mini-arc. Right now, the PC mage that brought them here only knows how to access "recently traveled dimensions." Since two of the PCs have origins related to the Greek Gods, they're going to visit Olympus at one of their stops. I'd like to have them arrive in a strange place (that had been recently accessed from/to mirror world, so a place where summonings happen would be good) where they'll be attacked by monsters. After figuring out where they really are, they'll make their way toward the Gods to ask for a ticket home (plus to learn/encounter some other plot elements related to some of their backgrounds). But Greek mythology isn't one of my strong suits. What kind of places and monsters might they encounter in the "Greek mythos dimension?" If there are any cool appropriate monsters in HERO products, which ones would they be? I'm figuring that their eventual way back home will be to visit Hell/Hades, since they recently cleaned out a DEMON nest that had been summoning some nasty supervillains from there, so that's at least one dimension that they know that will have a bread crumb trail home.
  22. Re: R.I.P. Steve Gerber I heard his lung condition was somehow brought on by that pesky teleporting elf with the pistol...
  23. Re: Skill Trees (A New Framework?) There's the argument that a character shouldn't have SS: Biochemistry 11- until he has at least SS: Biology 11- or SS: Chemistry 11-, or possibly both. I can see the point to the argument, but not all genres are equally realistic.

  25. Re: Disads for Dana Scully I'd consider a Distinctive Feature. A description of Dana from the "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" episode: "One of them was disguised as a woman, but wasn't pulling it off. Like, her hair was red, but it was a little too red, y'know?" And a similar description of Mulder, by the same character: "And the other one, the tall, lanky one, his face was so blank and expressionless. He didn't even seem human. I think he was a mandroid."
