  1. My guess is that Savatar is either Wally or Flashpoint Wally.
  2. Killer Shrike's site (surprised nobody's mentioned it yet) has a 6th edition write up for Light. He also has a 6th edition one for Dancing Lights, which I saw mentioned in this thread. Heck, he has a whole lot more. Might save some work.
  3. I'd have no problem using a blade with a joint lock. Either of two cases could apply: 1. Using the blade as a lever, possibly sheathed, as you would with a baton/club or b. Using the hand not holding the blade, or holding the blade in a way that doesn't interfere with the maneuver. I'd consider both cases as advanced techniques, so if we're talking about an art that's "primarily focused around clubs and hands," I think it'd be fair to rule that it doesn't have such advanced techniques and only allow blades with basic hand strikes. I'm 97.325% sure that as far back as Ninja Hero, limiting what maneuvers were allowed to take weapons elements has been part of the extended Martial Arts rules.
  4. Re: Base assumptions from OP: The two bolded assumptions are counter to my understanding of the basic Hero principle of reasoning from effect, as they ask to have a rules mechanic flow from special effects assumptions. They strike me as putting the cart before the horse. Re: GM fiat: I don't see GM fiat as a bad thing. I see it as a necessity. No rules system can handle every edge case.
  5. Well, I was kind of intimating that you were more concerned with the sound of your prose than getting the facts straight, so maybe I wasn't as kind as it seems at first blush.
  6. Interesting thread. A few random thoughts: It looks like the OP is leaning towards single shot rifles. These would likely be employed as volley fire by an army. Single shot rifles used in formation aren't one and done deals. You'd have some of the formation shooting while the others are reloading. Riflemen would likely have bayonets as backup weapons. Here's a an Army field manual on the art of stabbifying things with a bayonet: FM 23-25. Might be useful for figuring out a bayonet MA (or standard) maneuver list. Someone mentioned using percussion revolvers offhand as requiring training firing with non-dominant hand and eye. Just to be a bit pedantic, you'd only need to train the hand. Offhand shooting of a handgun should use the dominant eye. Or just shoot both eyes open, making it a moot point. I agree that offhand revolver, main hand melee would be a fitting combo for such a campaign. I'd roll the weapon tech back to Renaissance level, where you still had some units in at least a breastplate and helmet. Mobility was becoming more of a concern, even with early firearms, but there was still value in protecting the vital bits of anatomy. The trend of helmet and chest armor pretty much continues today. At that tech level, you'd still have some hand weapons and metal armor in the mix.
  7. FWIW, I took that second perfect future comment to be more LB riffing on his first use of the phrase than attributing it to you directly.
  8. HD version of the trailer from the WB channel:
  9. I think a lot of Hero Martial (or even standard) maneuvers can stand in well for the combat feats. I suppose my point was just that it's a bit simpler to use what's already built-in, than to create a problematic construct that can be a bit of a newbie trap. Increasing base damage would seem to be one of those things that can cause problems, and since D&D 3rd doesn't really have any similar mechanical distinction (at least that I can think of at the moment), it makes more sense to me to use additive damage from martial maneuvers or even skill levels. I think it would make for a bit easier transition.
  10. After reading a few of the reviews, I've decided that I'm going to have to watch this one for myself. I suspect that they're largely right about the pacing, cinematography and fight choreography issues since those are all evident from the trailers, but it could still be watchable. If I can give Legends of Tomorrow another season, I'll get through Iron Fist to get to The Defenders.
  11. Plus, Hero already has something equivalent to Power Attack: Offensive Strike. All Power Attack does is trade to hit bonus for a damage bonus. Offensive Strike or any other combat maneuver that trades OVC for some damage is already a good enough substitute. I never understood the need to reinvent the wheel other than conflating Hero Talents with 3E D&D Feats for the sake of appearance.
  12. Lord Liaden is the reason pith helmets have come back into style in Canada.
  13. This seems most likely. IMO, try clearing your search history and browser cache. You can also report the ads as offensive with a drop down menu on the ad. And if you search for info that you don't want being used to fuel ads, just use a private window.
  14. I'll go along with two out of three of those. The writing isn't substantially better than any of the other CW super shows, though.
  15. So, I was looking around for info on The Secret World's "relaunch" and found some info on Dungeons and Dragons Online. Apparently, Turbine has divested itself of all of its MMOs. Anarchy Online is going to shut down. DDO and Lord of the Rings Online are both with Standing Stone studio, which is all of the prior Turbine MMO devs, plus a few more. The publisher for DDO and LOTRO is now Daybreak Games, who publish Sony's cast off MMOs. I read an interview with a couple of the honchos (sorry, don't have link handy) that makes it seem like they're intent on keeping both games running, not on life support, and that IPs are secure for the foreseeable future. They're also planning on a character model update for LOTRO. Also, it's DDO's 11th Anniversary. If you're an intermittent player, be sure to log in the game before April 2nd to claim your 11 Year Old Birthday Cake. You must use the cake before the 2nd as well, or it'll go bad. The cake items aren't as good as last year's free raid loot, but consist of a lot of stuff people farm for leveling and TRing. Helpful and good for many levels types of items, which most vets have already farmed. For generic rewards, there's 100k XP (instant, not affected by the +1 level max thing) and 10 of some kind of commendations that upgrade raid loot. (Not sure what's up with that, DDO loot systems are numerous and confusing. Kind of like old school D&D's many tables, I guess.) There's another catch: You only get two cakes per account. Not one per character as prior years. All the loot items are bind to account, though. You claim the cakes through an item shop coupon code (HAPPY11TH, not case sensitive.) The details are here. EDIT: Oh, yeah, and DDO is supposed to be getting sentient weapons. I should probably have put more white space in this post. Sorry. Here.... have some white space.
  16. That sucks. I built mine in 2010, and NWO has never run very well on it. STO is (at least was) OK, but I never got into it.
  17. Wally "got" it. Then she sent him for burgers when he started to move in for the make out / fade to black session.
  18. The Gorilla City arc was a bit disappointing. Not as good as the first Grodd arc. The actors all talking like Grodd while mind controlled was the best bit for me. Also, Gorilla City was a letdown. CGI just sucked, total lack of details. And although I understand that the origin story is different for the show, I was hoping for more of a high tech city. Probably ran into CGI budget issues there.
