  1. Re: Fantasy Art Thread What a great concept!
  2. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Love the DnD stuff.
  3. Re: Your FIRST Super Hero Character I'm thinking that my first character in the Champions MMO will be Blue Comet. I'll probably have to flesh him out a bit more, though. Been 33-34 years since I played him, after all.
  4. Re: Name help - Magnetic armor-guy Magneto! Hmm.... I think that one may be taken. How about Heap? (as in scrap heap) or Pig Iron?
  5. Re: Most interesting character ideas you've seen from others? You know, I've been trying to think of an example for this thread for several days now. I'm forced to admit I've played with some unimaginative gamers. Then again, you can have good times without breaking the mold too much, I guess.
  6. Re: Character Design Theory Actually, that "Similar Threads" thing at the bottom of the page now seems to create a lot of necromancy. So, I blame it by default when I see a necrothread.
  7. Re: Susano's Eight Steps To Character Building Ok, dumb question time... What's an APA?
  8. Re: Susano's Eight Steps To Character Building As usual, very nice work! Incoming rep!
  9. Re: EC's cannot have non-END powers!!!! Hmm, didn't Superworld or Villains and Vigilantes have a construct like that? I seem to remember a big chart listing the different element types, with powers for each. But I don't think it was Champs that I saw it in, since I didn't own Champs until 4th Edition (had bummed GMs books prior).
  10. Re: Mind Slayer Yeah, you got that right gojira.
  11. Re: A song of Ice & Fire Yep. He was ill for a while. They do have a guy working on the last novel in the series, which was partly written already. Jordan also left copious notes, both written and recorded, behind. I believe Jordan's wife will be editing for the book, which is something she did for him while he was alive. So, even though the writer's not one I've heard of, it does look like the series has a shot at a decently-done conclusion. Eh.... I didn't even see the second page here, before I replied to Manic. Nothin' to see here, move along. I may have to take a pass on the Martin books for a few more decades, it seems. I was kind of afraid he'd bloat the series. Though, if someone's going to write freaking huge multi-plotline novels, Martin's one author who seems to be able to make it tolerable.
  12. Re: Storn Art from idea to Full Picture Year 5 Nah, I don't wanna know what it is, simply if it is. Now I know to closely monitor the thread. Thanks.
  13. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Springfield M1As fill the bill for main battle rifle nicely: http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?clicktype=rifles I'm personally considering one of the following: Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail: Probably the best deal in a thousand dollar 1911. Or, if the budget can't handle it (contingent on a few other purchases coming up): Springfield XD in .45 acp, probably compact 4" model. Springfield Mil-Spec 1911, stainless The XD is contingent on a test fire. After handling it at the store, I'm not sure how well it really fits my hand. The 9mm is a pretty perfect fit, though, but I don't really like the caliber. The Taurus PT1911 is pretty tempting in that price range, but they're currently at 50/50 lemons with me on their revolvers, and their customer service is slow as mud. Springfield offers far better QC and customer service in that price range.
  14. Re: Pulp Hero Binding LOL, that's exactly what I did. I got a binder with clear pockets on the outside and inserted the front and back covers, too.
  15. Re: Questions concerning Massacre (HD) Shouldn't those two teleport powers be explained in the character's description section of the sheet? I never liked it when official writeups left that kind of info off. Seems like bad form not to describe the effects of the powers in a reason from effect system.
  16. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Is he a cow with guns?
  17. Re: A song of Ice & Fire Thanks. I think he originally stated plans for four or five books. What's the count up to now? Has he exceeded the original goal or is just slow in getting them out?
  18. Re: Urban Fantasy: Warnings Let's not forget Fritz Leiber. Though they could probably be classed as horror, Conjure Wife and Our Lady of Darkness are pretty decent examples of urban fantasy, particularly the latter. Could add The Sinful Ones, too.
  19. Re: A song of Ice & Fire Did he ever finish the series? I read the first one when it came out, but the gap was so long between books, I decided to wait till it was finished before reading it.
  20. Re: Beastboy Thief!
  21. Re: My Superhero Universe Nice work!
  22. Re: Stronghold superhuman classification system Hmm, maybe a rotating "special guard duty" is in order. Stronghold could have superhuman guards from various teams, or even independents, who take a turn at guard duty to prevent break-ins.
  23. Re: Mind Slayer I think they got it pretty right this time. Of course, there were pages of rants about her costume on their boards, but I've stopped reading those for the most part b/c the signal to stupid ratio is pretty high.
  24. Re: Storn Art from idea to Full Picture Year 5 Soooo...... We have a weiner yet?
  25. Re: Beastboy I like the idea of picking several pre-set forms, as suggested by Bloodstone. Here's my suggested list, based on comic and cartoon appearances: Rhino: High defense brick form. Gorilla: Martial brick form. Also useful when he needs stats AND hands. Monkey: Higher agility, climbing ability (clinging with limits requiring hand/foot holds), good for evading while using hands. Used to play "keep away" from villains. Cheetah/Big Cat: Ground movement + offense form. Good for closing the gap to melee. Various Bird forms: Flying, telescopic sight (raptors), good for scouting. Pterodactyl: Flying while hauling a teammate. Not as maneuverable as bird forms. Fly: Scouting, evading security systems. Dog/Bloodhound: Tracking scent. A generic dog form seems to be one of his defaults while just hanging around the base. Aquatic form: He's done whales, sharks, and dolphins. I'd go with shark since it's reasonably sized, fast and has a good offense and defense. Something like that should give a good list of options, especially if you give the player a little note at the top of each critter write up indicating the strengths of the form.
