  1. Re: Ctrl+V A passing familiarity with "Green Arrow: Year One" (OK, technically there were bad guys and there were their enslaved victims, but the slaves weren't going to get him off the island.)

  6. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? I just read the first two Fu Manchu books. The mixture of xenophobia and xenophilia is quite bizarre. Also Smith and Petrie are bumbling goons who constantly need Karamaneh to bail them out of jams.
  7. Re: The Twelve (If you can think of a better name go forit) GURPS called that idea "The Deadly Dozen". And of course pointed out that they rarely had a full roster.

  10. Re: And Now for Something Slightly Different: Mis-Spelled and Reimagined Supers Speedoman runs so fast that only his indestructible shorts... The Flesh is...profoundly disgusting. Hack-Man and Hack-Woman fight crime...by intruding on its computer systems. Green Error. A berserk robot easily spotted in the darkness thanks to its flashing green light.
  11. Re: Why Your Heroes Shouldn't Kill I'm missing the point too. The Watchmen characters were nasty from the start.
  12. Re: Ctrl+V Yup. But let's face it, it's not like the consequences are all that catastrophic most of the time.
  13. Re: You Don't Have to be Crazy to be a Superhero, but it Helps! I remember the time Kitty Pryde was looking out at the crowd of demonstrators and complaining about the mutant-haters, until someone told her that was a pro-mutant demonstration. She couldn't make out the signs because her contacts were out. And the time Magneto was frustrated by the human construction worker who (not knowing who he was) was saying "Well I figure mutants are like anyone else. There's some good and some bad..." And the time Chamber found himself dating a starlet (even though he had no mouth) because mutants had become trendy and she wanted the coverage to boost her career. And the time in Marvels when the reporter hid a (very obviously freaky) mutant little girl in his basement to protect her from rioters. Heres a picture of her
  14. Re: New Math suggests that Warp Drive may actually be possible But it doesn't deal with the real problem which is getting even a single gram of negative mass, much less five hundred kilograms.
  15. Re: New Math suggests that Warp Drive may actually be possible Well no, it suggests it could be done more cheaply if it was possible.
  16. Re: looking for non-Causasian pulp roles Karamaneh, Fu Manchu's Egyptian slave/agent who repeatedly rescues Petrie and Smith in The Insidious Doctor Fu Manchu could be a heroine in her own right. She certainly saves the heros far more than they save her. She's sneaky, resourceful, hot, brave, intelligent and hot. About the only thing she lacks is the ability to fight her way out of a paper bag.
