Personally, I hate using Images to create Light...
However if you run numbers comparing Images to Create Light versus using Change Environment to Create Light you end up with:
 
​Standard Light:​  Images (Sight Group) (+4 to PER Rolls) (22 APs); Only To Create Light (-1). ​Cost:  ​11 points.
 
Nonstandard Light:​  Change Environment (+4 to Sight Group PER Rolls) (12 APs). Cost:​  12 points.
 
The total cost is basically the same for a basic, "no frills" light power. Both are constant powers which create light in a 2m area.
 
Granted, there are several disadvantages to being forced to use Images, such as higher endurance cost, advantages "costing more", and other limitations being "worth less" (which are all reason why I dislike it...). However, to be entirely fair... Rules as Written, the ​Nonstandard Light​ power simply grants anyone within it's area the listed bonus to Perception, regardless of what they are using it to perceive, and doesn't grant anyone outside it's area a bonus to perceive the effected area. Whereas the Standard Light power actually works more or less like you would expect it to, it makes the affected area easier to perceive, regardless of the perceiver's position relative to it. Eventually I came to the conclusion that (at least for projects I am inclined to publish) it wasn't worth rocking the boat.

I'm trying to convert d20 Vancian-style magic to Hero. I thought I had it pretty-well figured out. A wizard's spellbook is a Multipower with Delayed Effect as a common Advantage, and each spell is a slot in that pool. The DE limit is the size of the pool. (There's a discount if the character wants to memorize the same spell more than once.) Each spell takes a certain amount of Extra Time to prepare, based on the Active Point cost of the spell.
 
However, I get an unwanted effect when converting a spell with a Constant effect that would normally cost END (such as Light).  In those cases, Time Limit becomes an Advantage and the Active Cost skyrockets. I can work around this by creating the spell with 1 Continuing Charge, but I keep thinking that I'm overlooking a better way of doing it.

(Delayed Effect is a Common Advantage of the Multipower, so it doesn't show up in the spell description.)

Indeed. Which worries the bejazus out of me. Nothing I've seen of Clinton suggests she's worse evil than Trump. He's a bigger liar than her, a bigger philanderer than her husband. He's less consistent in his beliefs and even more hypocritical. And he's a racist narcissist who's doing it for the attention. What makes these people think that Hilary is worse than Trump? Mostly big lies, told often and loudly. And unsupported by evidence. Don't get me wrong. I don't think Hilary is anywhere near perfect President material. That'd be Barack Obama, for my money. But Trump? Worse? I thought Brexit was bad, over here, but he has taken "lying your way into office" to another level completely.
 
 
And for every one of those thousands of reasons, they decided that racism didn't matter enough to stop them voting for the man, implicitly sanctioning with their only civic input, his racist mindset, along with the same attititudes in others.

I don't have any financial figures to back it up, but I would think that putting out controversial continuity-changing storylines that divide the fanbase would be a good thing. Any time you have the fans arguing over things it means they are reading the material and caring about it, to the extent that they fight over it.
 
As I see it, the real problem is that comic publishing, whether it is digital or paper, is a business first and foremost. The notion of stopping a successful title just because the character should (realistically) retire after ten years of fighting villains--to say nothing of the plot churn that comes with such longevity--is anathema to publishers. Moreover, they realize that coming up with interesting characters and (financially) successful storylines is not so easy, so exchanging one aging character with a fresh new character in the company's roster would be a terrifying prospect.
 
However, that's how I would want to run a comic publishing company if I had the chance. I'm not saying it would work out, but I like the idealism of it. I like the idea that each character is allowed a single virtual "lifetime" to fight crime and save the world, and that the superhero universe is allowed to have an ever-changing tapestry of characters that come and go once their storylines are played out. Sure, there might be the occasional immortal character, but this standard practice of keeping the main characters 25-35 years old forever would go bye-bye.
 
Fans of popular characters would cry, "But we love the Justice Queen! Don't take her away!" to which I would respond, "Don't worry, we have another character coming up that is just as interesting and that you'll love even more!" It would be necessary to back that up with the goods, but that's the challenge. The creative challenge that no publisher is willing to undertake because it's too hard and probably doesn't make enough money (though I think that is solved by merchandizing the characters in other forms).
 
Anyway, that's my idealistic rant for the day.
