1. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Ring of Honor is always a good time. They'll be earth shaking if they ever get some good directors for their camera stuff. ~Rex
2. Re: More Railgun Still curious though comparison wise. Most of the Light Gas Guns are coming in around 6 to 7 KM/s, One of the two stage ones the Air Force plays around with for impact testing has an 8 inch to 3.3 inch capability is 4.5 KM/s to 7 KM/s and the Electro Thermal LGG's look like they are providing even more... Rail Gun seems to come in around 2-3 KM/s (give or take)..... Either way, a fan of both systems. Some interesting Indirect Artillery options on paper for the LGG's as well... All good stuff though. ~Rex...and then, we get MetalStorm!
3. Re: M44 offhand @ 500 yards You could also add some more specifics just for the Weapon. The M44 is a big beefy bolt action. Exceptionally rugged, very stable, and a beast to work with for smaller folks, but it likes to shoot long and flat hence you could give the rifle itself a range level or two.... Recent episode of Top Guns featured the m44 it's a good watch.... ~Rex
4. Re: Something like Ghost Rider for 5th on 250 points. I'll have a few versions to post.....maybe tonight possibly Saturday. Was thinking of starting a character thread anyway..... ~Rex
5. Re: More Railgun Hmm...I wonder who wins in the end, Weaponry wise of course since I think Railguns have a lot of non weaponry uses down the road, but the Gas Guns... Some interesting developments there as well..... ~Rex.... Gas Gun vs Rail Gun ....*cue Music, goes to dig up video*
6. Re: Something like Ghost Rider for 5th on 250 points. Last movie is pure Johnny Blaze albeit with Background elements from the Ketch Blaze reunion show, heh.... 250 in 5th ed though.....bears thought, but since Ghost Rider has been one of my Marvel Favorites forever until it's current Incarnation which actually resulted in me causing damage to walls and such during the tantrum of "MARVEL!!!! I would Have Words with Thee!"... Lemme root through the comics. At the beginning of his career in 5th Ed you could pull him off fairly easily. That remains so up until Ketch shows up, then the Blaze Nightstalkers Evolution mucks it up even more, then it gets fixed but others start to mess with it again till Ennis fixes it again, then well, all Hell Broke Lose with the Blaze Ketch Traveling emo reunion show which lead to a debacle that gets Fixed yet Again until the Unholy trinity side of Marvel decided to just complete destroy everything and set it up so it's nigh impossible to fix without a total Reboot..... I've got a couple of Ghost Rider builds in various editions and stage of his career. I'll toss them in HD and see what can be made of it. 250 in 5th will be really basic though but as I said, if you don't go to far forward down his timeline it's not to obnoxious.... ~Rex ....Ghost Rider expert, speaking of which, Gary Friedrich still needs some help... Many Links but I liked Neal Adams take on the situation myself.. so if you're art talented and feel like helping out: http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2012/02/neal-adams-calls-on-creators-to-help-ghost-riders-gary-friedrich/ ....Now off to re-read that book since my GR Longbox is right here! heh..
7. Re: M44 offhand @ 500 yards Just wanted to remind the builders, before we all start in again that "Off Hand" in shooting doesn't mean you're shooting with your off hand. It means you're firing standing from the shoulder sans other support... Least amount of points without going aoe 1hex accurate. Penalty Skill Levels vs Range mods. More limitations can be added as well to make it pretty cheap. ~Rex
8. Re: M44 offhand @ 500 yards Yeah I had the same issue. I shoot with a lot of pros though so I wasn't too surprised when they all started showing off. That shots way beyond me standing, could probably do it prone or kneeling but only with a big bolt action like the M44. I'm an IRC guy so big and clunky works better for me heh. Going out this weekend to shoot, have to get my friend Paul to drag his M44 along again just to see where the limits are... ~Rex
9. Re: M44 offhand @ 500 yards The Mosin Nagant had a really nice showing on the first episode of Top Guns as well. It's a good solid well built bolt action rifle (though you gotta be a man to work the bolt), more then capable of making that shot. ~Rex
10. Re: M44 offhand @ 500 yards Area Effect 1 hex Accurate naked Advantage and a few Range levels. Nice shooting though. Got a few guys out here at the range that were able to duplicate it. ~Rex
11. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ?
12. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? Heh, Phillip K. Dick is about as Pulp as you get without being *Insert list of Authors ranging from Clark Ashton Smith to add infinium and beyondish, heh*..... Style, presentation flow feel. Yeah Pulp. ~Rex
13. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? Actually, Yeah I'd call them Pulp. They have similar structure and motion in the story telling. Not a fan though but if I were in the age group they're aimed at, I might have tossed a few of them in the pile back in the day..... ~Rex
14. Re: Second Best Game System ? My Top Ten, Best to worse. HERO 6 Fuzion Interlok Basic Role Playing (BRP) Savage Worlds WEGS D6 Tri Stat Phoenix Command GURPS FATE/FUDGE There's a few other games I can toss up there but they're more Genre specific. Trying to keep it Universal. ~Rex
15. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine One of my favorite Heroes whom I have stolen the concept from a bazillion times, just because he's fun. DC Comics... SUPER CHIEF! ~Rex....goes back to making a Whole Indian Team.....
16. Re: 5th Edition vs 6th Edition Reducing the Stun Multiple is fine when you look at the Costs of all the other Advantages (Take, Armor Piercing for example) that can stack on to it. Again, as I have been noticing since I've starting paying more attention, most of the problems seem to arise from being stuck in Previous Edition Mode, still thinking in 4th or 5th when 6th actually works on a different scale of game play. Folks are thinking in terms of raw numbers instead of what those numbers actually Equate too in the system. Sorta the same line of thinking folks get about Aquaman being weak before he one arms a polar bear at you with casual strength and does knockback to a group of braced people before beating up the survivors WITH their Submarine.... ~Rex
17. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? While a huge fan of Riverworld (PJF being one of my favorite writers), and the GURPS supplement, the current TV show isn't based on that material.... It would however make for an incredible Pulp atmosphere Supernatural kind of game. The folks running the show are the guys that did the Paranormal movies, it's got a nice sort of take on the "Discovered Footage" meets Reality Show kinda angle, with Spielberg money behind it and a pacing and level of creepiness I haven't seen since, oh Hitchcock. Shame the Riverworld TV show never took off on SyFy, but, Expensive, Actors Dying off in the middle of production, and stinktastic ratings because they dumbed it down for the LCD crowd...... ~Rex
18. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Caught up on "The River".....Some game potential there. ~Rex
19. Re: 5th Edition vs 6th Edition I've noticed that the single biggest stumbling block for a lot of folks coming over from 4th or 5th is that they try and build the 6th Ed PC the same way they would build a 4th/5th with the same amount of points. They miss the scale, and seem to have an issue adapting to the new scale. To me it was simple but then I work with plans and scale all the time so adjustment is natural.... Just got to keep :This is a Starting HERO: in mind, as opposed to "I got 400 Points Now but I'm not getting what a 400 point PC would be in the old rules....." ~Rex
20. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Miles Davis. Sometimes you just need the good stuff..... ~Rex
21. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Well since Golden Age has decided to allow in a sort of Legion of Substitute Heroes into his Epic City game and everyone else has their slightly lower powered (350 to start 6e) newbie squad guys, I hammered on my Amerindian concept a bit and he finally evolved into something that "fits"..... So here's Thunderhawk, Champion of the Cherokee (channeling my drop in the bucket heritage in that particular direction.....) ~Rex ....Says take Hawkman from DC, and Talisman/Shaman from Marvel's Alpha Flight, point him at something and start taking bets.....
22. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? Gotta love Moonstone Books. They've done justice to all their material, Especially The Black Bat....whom DC continues to steal from to this day, heh... If anyone ever gets a chance to attend a pulp seminar when Moonstone is involved, take it. Well worth the time. ~Rex
23. Re: Reason for creating team. Grond have Plan! Uhhmmm .....What Gronds Plan again? ~Rex
24. Re: Very flashy, acrobatic martial arts styles? I suppose it depends on a person's Idea of Flashy and Acrobatic. There's more then a few forms of Escrima that would fit the mold, and then entire Anime have been built around things like Hsing-I (Xing-Yi) and PaKua (BaGua). There's a few forms of Karate that would certainly fit as well, Gōjū-ryū and (eventually) Shotokan; Uechi Ryū shouldn't be left out either. Anything with explosive Linear strikes combined with circular movement and set up tends to have some flash involved by default..... ~Rex
25. Re: 7 Sci-Fi Series Ripe for Movie Reboots Was never a B7 fan back in the day, but I might give it a shot if they ran with it today. I think that if they did though they would try and tone it DOWN, heh.... ~Rex
