Absorbtion
If you have two seperate energy absorbtion powers. EG: one to stun and the other to EB. When you are struck by an attack do both absorbtion powers get the benefit of the full amount of the attack's body, or is the body of the attack divided between the two powers?

Minus to PER rolls
I know you're supposed to buy the relevant skills/powers when a character is permanently shrunk/grown, but what is the appropriate way to handle minuses to other people's PER rolls to notice you?

A dumb question
I've been playing Champs for about a century or so but somehow this has never come up before...how does Drain:End interact with charges? I hit this with an Elecro-power guy who can drain batterys...I know how this works with an End battery,but how about the basic Viper blater with it's 16 charges? Thanx

Ablative Armor
I looked through the FAQ's, but didn't see anything about this, so I want to make sure I have this right. In the FAQ it states that reductions to armor should be applied evenly (the example was Drain Armor). With the -1 Ablative Limitation, it reduces the defense by 5 active points. So how do you apply a 5 active point reduction to vehicle DEF or Armor (for simplicity assuming no advantages on either)? For vehicle DEF, would you reduce it by 1 point (3 active) on the first hit, and 'hold' the other 2 points of effect till the next hit (removing 2 points)? Similar mechanics for Armor? Or would you just round [down] in the character's favor each reduction and drop the…

Double Knockback followup
Suppose a character's casual str is enough to knock down a barrier. Do you still subtract the def of the barrier before calculating knockback?

Drain on End Reserve
Bonjour, Does the same End drain affect the same way character's End and End reserve ? When a Drain is specially built afainst END reserve, does the End reserve's REC drained too ? Thanks

Drain & characteristics bought as power
Bonjour, If a characteristic is part in standard caracteristic, part bought as a power (because of an advantage or a limitation), which one is drained/aided first ? Same question if the characteristic is part into a power framework. Thanks

MegaSense question?
I know that according to the FAQ you need (or should) have a sense bought with the same MegaScale as your movement. Soooo ... I was wondering if this power construct would work for the jet I built: Afterburn: Flight 10", Megascale (1" = 1 km; +1/4) (25 Active Points); Costs Endurance (Costs END Every Phase; -1/2) (uses END Reserve) Long Range Optic Sensors: Targeting Sense (Sight Group), Megascale (1" = 1 km; +1/4) (25 Active Points) (uses END Reserve) Will what I've got there let this plane fly at MegaScale without smearing the occupants all over the landscape?

Hand-To-Hand Attack and Hand-To-Hand Damage Classes
If you purchase a Hand-To-Hand Attack as a power, do your Martial Art's Hand-to-Hand Damage Classes apply to it's damage? The description of a Hand-To-Hand Attack in the 5th edition book implies that the reverse is true, that if you perform a Martial Arts maneuver you can apply your Hand to hand attacks damage to the Martial Art's. Whats the result if your Hand-To-Hand Attack has something like Armor Piercing or Penetration applied to it? Does the whole attack get that advantage, or only the part of damage given by the Hand-To-Hand Attack?

moving while blinded
Are there any penalties for a person just moving when flashed or trying to just move through a darkness field? It seems to me that some sort of DEX roll might be required for a person to move without stumbling over something or falling down. This came up in our last game when a person with combat sense has in a darkness field and wanted to move several hexes and attack a target who was also in the darkness.

Breakfall & Standing
From the Rules FAQ: In our game last night one of the player characters was hit by an attack which knocked him out and knocked him back as well. In a couple of phases the character had recovered back to consciousness. Should that character be allowed to use his Breakfall skill to stand as a 0 PHA action?

On what kinds of pool's is the charges limitation appropriate? Cosmic? No Roll? 0 Phase? 'Normal'? Only at base?

variable advantages
Ok. I am a little unclear here. When you buy a power with a variable advantage do you always have to use the maximum level of the possible advantage? What I mean is; if you have say a +2 variable advantage and all you want to use at the moment is +1/2 can you, or must you always have a number of advantages equal to the +2? thanks.

Double Knockback
If an attack with Double Knockback goes through a barrier, is the body doubled for knockback purposes before or after applying the def of the barrier? For example, a 10D6 EB with double knockback vs a 8 ED force wall and rolls 10 body. Would the base knockback be (10*2-8) = 12", or (10-8)*2 = 4" of knockback? I would assume that if the attack didn't knock down the barrier at all, that no knockback would be done.

Area Effect Force Field?
Let's say a character buys Force Field with Area of Effect (Radius). Since the "force" is defined as "hugging" what it protects rather closely, it would presumably fill the entire area around the user, out to the edge of the AoE (unlike a Force Wall, where the space between the Wall and the user is unaffected). So what happens to other characters and objects in that area when it's activated? Are they "pushed" to the edge of the Force Field? If so, what would the effective STR of the push be? Are they trapped in place by the Force Field surrounding them (an Entangle-like effect)?

3rd Party Vehicle Follow-up
Shouldn't a character be able to use the Summon power in his V.P.P. to summon a Vehicle using the +1 slavishly loyal advantage instead of having to have a 56-point V.P.P. to summon a common car?

Always On Force Walls
Suppose a character buys a Force Wall at 0 End, Persistent, and Always On. If the Force Wall gets knocked down by an attack, does it automatically "spring" back up on the character's next phase?

Vehicle Costs and Cosmic VPP
I THINK I know the answer but I just wanna confirm it. The FAQ says... In my campaign this PC, Smith, calls back items magically (i.e. he does not go to a lab/garage or anything). Poof. Car. Poof. Helecopter. Poof. Viper blaster. Anything he has touched and analyzed. Do these apply if it is defined as a Cosmic VPP NOT a Gadget VPP? I assume this ruuling applies for any type of VPP but I'm just checkin'...

Vehicle Costs and VPP
Hi Steve: I want to confirm something in another thread... A PC in my game is named Smith. He can magically "call back" anything he has touched and analyzed in the past. It is bought with a VPP. Now...for guns and such it is easy...I have questions about vehicles... Assume the Taurus has an active point cost of 60. 1) Does this mean that the VPP point cost of said Ford Taurus is 60 points (i.e. 60 points from the VPP are used) OR does it mean the character only has to use 24 points of his VPP (i.e. because he can use the power Summon with Slavishly Devoted)? 2) What about the max VPP cost? Does the PC need a 60 point threshhold in his VPP to summon a…

Partial Hardened Defense & Penetrating
Bonjour, How to manage partial Hardened Defense vs Armor Piercing or Penetrating Advantage ? It's quite clear for Armor Piercing, the full Hardened Defense and Half of the non Hardened Defense apply, but for Penetrating advantage ? Thanks !

Combat Skil Level and Mental powers
My first question to the rules conceptors... In the Combat Skill Levels description (p36), I don't see any references to mental combat; and in the figthing section (p246), there is no more details about that. Ego Combat Value cannot be increased with CSL ? At what cost ? For example : 5 points CSL to add +1 ECV with all mental combat 3 points CSL to add +1 ECV with 3 mental powers 2 points CSL to add +1 ECV with 1 attack power. With this system, EGO attacks shouldn't only based on EGO value... Thanks to all heros !

Push & Half end power
Bonjour, What is the result of pushing a power with 1/2 End Advantage ? By example, 8d6 EB 1/2 End (50 act pts). I should have 9 1/2 d6 EB : (50 + 10 active pts / 1.25 (1/2 End advantage) = 48 pts (divided by 5 giving 9 1/2) ) And i should pay 12 End Is this correct ? Thanks !

New commer OCV/DCV question
Hi, I'm a newcommer here, and discovered the Hero system a few days ago, fo I was interrested in the Terran Empire, well critized in french rpg press. I have a question that may have allready been asked, or that you'll find quite dork. I have issues with OCV/DCV. Mostly, I don't uderstand : 1. Why do they exist ? The combat skills don't work the same way than the other skills, and I find it strange. I don't understand the need to use a "TAC0" like system (ok, this is not a nice thing to say, I appologize) 2. Leaping help
Steve, Me and someone else have been debating this: If a character has Str 12 and OIF Str, No figured Characteristics 13 Total Str 25 What is there leaping? I insist that it is 5" (Based on the chart on page 21) He says that it is 4", essentialy Str 12 gives you 2", str 13 gives you 2" for 2+2=4". My problem with his logic is then the same character would only be able to lift aprox 290 kg or do 4 1/2d6 of damage, this seems wrong to me
