Trigger/MP/Persistant Power
Thank you for the help earlier What happens when a persistant power with trigger (say Armor)is in a MP, triggered, when the character is KO? The only thing I found in the FAQ was about Instant powers.

Steve: I know this is inapropriate
BUT: Is there anyway to make a MP slot switch after you are KO'd? Kind of a "this is the default slot, all others are an extention of this"? I know this is kind of a How to thing, but I can't think of anything and I feel it is right there and I am just missing it...

re: multiple layers of hardened and Multiple AP/Pen Attacks
Hi Steve, I was just curious and confused by your recent response on this subject. The following example was given: You answered: I think your ruling might be too restrictive. To illustrate this better from here on I will describe Armor Piercing, Penetrating and Indirect all as Flanking Advantages. I am also going to slightly change or add possible clarification to the wording of the example reference to the rule in question on page 77 of FREd: A single level of Hardened will not stop both a Flanking Advantage and an additional potentially different Flanking Advantage bought for a single Power - that requires …

Recovering Aided points
Looking at the FAQ in 2 different places, I've found something I don't understand. Under Adjustment Powers, the last entry reads: *NEW*Q: 5E 89 notes that STUN or END received from an Aid is used first, rather than the character’s normal STUN and END, and if the Aid fades before all the STUN or END is used, what was used does not come out of the character’s normal STUN or END. But if a character receives STUN or END from an Adjustment Power with a long fade rate, can he use his Recovery to regain STUN or END from the Adjustment Power after he’s used it? For example, suppose that a character with 30 STUN receives an Aid STUN 3d6, Delayed…

Is Aiding one's self an attack action?
The title sort of says it all: if a character uses aid on themselves what type of action is it? And does it matter if the character has the "only on self" disad on the Aid? Several thoughts come up: 1) On page 71 the "Activating powers" section says that activating a power that isn't an attack takes a zero phase action, and Aid is "Adjustment" not "Adjustment/Attack" like Drain. -However- 2) Aid typically targets a characters DCV, and page 234, under "Attack actions" define any actions which require or involve any sort of attack roll as attack actions which therefore take up a half phase and end a characters phase. At this point I might be inclined t…

multiple layers of hardened and Multiple AP/Pen Attacks
hey steve, While discussing how multiple layers of Hardened works with my friend I managed to get myself confused. While I think my Interpretation is Correct I would just like some clarification. the issue is when a character has multiple layers of Hardened and is Atacked by multiple levels of AP/Pen in a single Attack the way I interpret this is thus: Hardman has bought 2 layers of hardening for his armor, the rules state that he needs to mark which Advantage his hardened works against when against multiple advantages so he chose one as being Against AP and one against PEN. are all of the following circumstances are correct? 1: he is attacked b…

Fantasy Hero Armor and Weapons Element ?
I am planning on running a Turakian Age campaign (my first fanstasy campaign in 20 years!), and in designing a Drakine I came across the following: 1) Does Racial Package Damage Resistance add to worn armor, or does the 'No layering armor' rule from Fantasy Hero apply? 2) Does taking a Weapons Element: Shields with a MA package negate the OCV penalty using a shield as a weapon? Thanks in advance for your reply.

A quick question...
Came up in a game, and I didnt know what the answer was...thought this would be the best place to put it for a "real" answer. Do the 10 pt. Skill Levels help the Find Weakness power?

Characteristics in Multipowers: Clarification Requested
Steve, I got into a discussion with a player over this issue, and I'm afraid the wording in the FAQ is a bit ambiguous under the circumstances. I could use an official clarification. From the FAQ on Characteristics as Powers: Q: The rules on 5E 92 state that Characteristics bought through a Multipower (or sometimes other Power Frameworks) automatically don’t provide Figured Characteristics. Does this mean such a power cannot take the No Figured Characteristics (-1/2) Limitation, or that it must take that Limitation? A: It means it must take that Limitation. Now on the surface, that would seem to imply that a Primary Characteristic bought as a slot…

Missile Reflection
Can you purchase CSLs defined solely for the purpose of increasing your Missile Reflection OCV? What level? (I'd presume 5-point so they could be limited to "Only applies to Missile Reflection OCV; -1/2") I've looked in the FAQ and this question comes closest to addressing this issue:

Continuing Charges & Extra Time
If a character has a Power (in this case, Clairsentience) bought with a (5 minute) Continuing Charge, which takes Extra Time (20 minutes) to activate each time a Charge is used, but the Charge then runs for up to the full 5 minutes, is the Limitation Value for Extra Time halved or not? Thanks!

Find Weakness & Hit Location
I was wondering how Find Weakness worked with Hit Locations. Do you find a weakness and half their defense on all locations or do you have to find it on one location at a time? If you have to find it on each location and you miss the roll on one location, can you try to find it on another?

Partially-Limited VPP
Pretty self-evident topic. So, is it legal in at least some circumstances? If it is, I'm assuming that the Limitation would only reduce the Control Cost of the part of the VPP it affects, not the cost of the Pool itself. Thanks as always for being so helpful.

Absorption in TUB
Hi Steve! Perhaps I am misunderstanding the Absorption Example on page 35 of The Ultimate Brick. The 3rd paragraph states that Absorbo can only absorb 11 BODY and the attack does 12 BODY. However, the last paragraph states he takes 0 Body from the attack. What am I missing? Thanks!

5th Ed. Shape Shift Error?
Steve, I am not sure if this is the proper place to post this, but with 5th Ed. Revised moving forward, I wanted to mention it ASAP. On page 140 of Fred, under the Advantages and Adders for Shape Shift, the following text appears: Useable On Others: This Advantage should not normally be purchased for Shape Shift to force another character to assume a different shape . . . I think that this could be somewhat misleading, at least to new players. Even though the text itself is clear enough as to the intent, wouldn't Useable as Attack be the Advantage that you would want to avoid? If someone does not take the time to really read the text, and only s…

Megascale II
Below, you note "See the Rules FAQ under "MegaScale" for the official rules." in advising whether a floating location needs the Megascale advantage to be used with a Megascale power. I probably just missed it, but my scan of the discussion of Megascale under Advantages didn't find it. Can you please provide more detailed directions? Thanks

Megascale Teleport and Floating Locations
One of my GMs is insisting that I need to buy a megascale advantage on a floating location in order to use a megascale teleport to that location. He insists that is the correct way according to FRED. Is he right? Do I have to buy megascale advantage on a floating location to use it with teleport that has a megascale advantage?

Computers and Physical Stats
My adventures with Hero Designer recently brought me to wonder, what are the physical stats for a computer? The Materials Chart lists a Personal Computer as 2 DEF, 2 BOD; a Control Console is (per hex) 4 DEF, 4 BOD. If I buy a Computer, which one is assumed standard? Entirely a matter of choice? I presume I can make the computer particularly tough by using powers such as Armor, but do I make it particularly fragile with, say, a Physical Limitation or Vulnerability? How about its size? Also a Physical Limitation? I'd appreciate some help on this one, thanks.

Hardened...defined or undifined
The expansion of the rules for Hardened defenses make it a bit unclear as to the actually re-definition of the advantage. If and only if you have a single level of hardened does it still affect ALL of the attack advantages (AP,PEN,etc) so long as there is only one advantage on the attack of does, by defining the hardened (as in the example of 2 of more powers) mean it only effects that one advantage (even when a power used against the defense only has 1 advanatage). I could see the entry being read either way so I'd like an official clarification of the mutiple attacks with only 1 advantage. This if the hero has 1x hardened (defined vs penetrating) a…

Concentration and Inaccurte Questions:
Hello Steve. Here are a boat load of questins about Concentration and Inaccurte. 1) Can I buy Concentration and Inaccurte for Mental Powers? Can I applie them to ECV (EDCV/EOCV)? 2) If a player wants the range penatlies for Inaccurate, but not the OCV modifier, can I charge him -1/4 less a disavantage? 3) If a player buys Inaccurate for a non-ranged power, should I charge him -1/4 less a disavantage for the fact that there is no range acurments? 4) If a player just wants a -2 OCV penatly when using this attack, should that be a -0 limitation Inaccurate? If he wants a -2 DCV penatly, should that be a -0 limatation Concentrate? 5) If my players want…

Cumulative and Adjustment Powers
5E page 75 says that the Cumulative advantage cannot be used on Adjustment Powers that increase a characteristic such as Aid or Absorption, but that it is valid for Adjustment Powers that decrease a characteristic, and gives Suppress as an example. Page 163 also mentions that Cumulative is a valid Advantage for some Adjustment Powers. But isn’t Suppress already inherently Cumulative? In fact, aren’t all the Adjustment Powers that decrease characteristics (Drain, Suppress, Transfer) inherently Cumulative? If I am correct about all Adjustment Powers that decrease characteristics already being Cumulative, isn’t the text on 75 and 163 mistaken, as there would th…
