Mind Scan Damage Shield (again)
You may have answered this during the previous questions and I missed it or misunderstood. If so, sorry about that. Let's say I have a character with a Damage Shield of Mind Scan, working against Mental Powers. He's hit with an Ego Attack by an unseen attacker, and rolls Ego + 10 on the Mind Scan Effect. Does the effect itself linger beyond the attack? That is, does he still know where the attacker is even if no further mental attacks are made? And does he continue having such knowledge until the attacker breaks free of the Mind Scan, as usual?

Escaping Grabs with Growth or Shrinking
When someone is grabbing a character, could the victim escape from the hold by using Growth or Shrinking? I don't expect an automatic escape, but how could the effect play a role? After all, I would have difficulties holding someone who is suddenly a giant or a midget.

EC, DCV & Luck
Hiya Steve, I'm playing with a character on HD for my campaign tonight and I decided to give him "Longshot" level luck powers ... so when I added DCV & Luck (as well as a few other powers) into a EC: Luck Control, I was told that I shouldn't do this w/o GM permission. Mind you, I am the GM and I could just say "I'll allow it", but I can't seem to find any reference to this anywhere in FRED or the FAQ. Is this an illegal point spread? I have them costing END to activate ...

Adjustment Powers and Skills
I checked the FAQ and didn't see it so apologies if this is clarified. If I choose to drain someone's Conversation skill, is it affected at 2 pts/+1? Or would the usefulness of this demand that the adjustment power be halved (like for defenses)? I'm assuming that it is a 2pts/+1.

Timing question on charges that last an extra phase.
Incendiary Grenades defended as 10D6 Explosive with 4 charges that last an extra phase. Does the extra phase and thus the extra damage take place in the very next phase or on the characters next phase? Thanks

Vehicle Point Base Question
Allright, quick question: I'm working on a telemechanic, and I wanted to write him up a vehicle. Then my friend gives me the idea of making it a shapeshifting vehicle. So, if I'm writing up multiform for a vehicle (a bike that turns into a jet that turns into a mecha, etc. etc.), which I'm beginning to think is a very nasty idea, What is the base points for the vehicle to be used in the multiform? To put it another way, if I write up the bike (say 30 character points, 150 vehicle points) as the base form with the multiform, and then want the multiform to be a jet, would I use those 30/150 points as the point base for the jet, too?

Penetrating Attacks
The write up doesn't really say for sure one way or the other. 1)On penetrating attacks I know the "body" of the attack is used to determine damage, but is the actual damage taken stun? 2)If it is stun how would this effect a automation?

Mind Scan Damage Shield Followup
I assume you meant yes in your reply (I know what the book says, perhaps I should have clarified that I wished to understand what it means). In that case, the effect of a Mind Scan Damage Shield would only apply for the instant mental contact is made and no longer, unless contact is prolonged in some way? Example: the character is hit with an Ego Attack. The Mind Scan Damage Shield dice are rolled, and for the next Phase, the character has a Mind Scan link (at a level determined when the Power is bought) with his attacker is enough effect is rolled. But after than Phase, the effect ends and there is no more link. Same effect with Telepethy or other continuing ef…

Followup on Endurance for actions
I'm clear on The END for STR usage part of the equation, I'm looking for confirmation that a character who Martial dodges or blocks still pays 1 END for performing a non STR based action.

Multiform questions
I have two questions regarding Multiform, and a third separate question. I apologize in advance if they have already been posted, I checked the FAQ (and rulebook, obviously). I have a character who is human with a multiform (polar bear, as per the bestiary). As luck would have it (for math purposes), my true form has 23 STUN but the polar bear as 46 STUN. Now, the first question: I understand that if I was at, say 30 STUN in bear form and I revert, I would be at 15 STUN in human form. But what happens if I am knocked out in bear form (-10 STUN)? Am I still at -10 STUN in human form or does the percentage work for negative statistics as well? (i.e. would I…

Endurance for actions, and PSLs for pulling punches
2 quick questions. The Faq and UMA pg 105 say that Martial Maneuvers cost no end Fred page 286 says that maneuvers that some maneuvers don't have a listed STR value; in such cases the character spends 1 END. This includes Block, Dodge or Firing a weapon. I'm taking this to mean that the martial maneuvers have no additional end cost, thus a STR 20 character would pay 2 end for any strike maneuver (for the STR use), and a martial dodge or block while costing no end on their own would still require the character to pay 1 END for a non STR based maneuver, is that correct? And secondly, the - to OCV is not eligible for a penalty skill level because it is a negative …

Entangle + Explosion
I'm completely clear on the 1"/2" thing. It's that the Glue Grenade reduces the BODY by 1d6 each time you reduce it, while the FAQ says to reduce it by one point each time. Which is correct?

Glue Grenade/Entangle + Explosion Again
The rules FAQ and the Glue Grenade example contradict each other. The Glue Grenade Mk. II loses 1d6 BODY and 1 DEF per 2", while the FAQ says this should be 1 BODY/1 DEF per 2" or 1".

Multipowers: increasing the pool with EXP
Sorry if this has been asked before, but searching the forums and checking the FAQs, I haven't seen the answer. I have a multipower with 30 active point pool, no advantages to it, with a total -3 in limitations on it, so 7 points. There are 4 fixed slots under this, each using the full 30 active points. The limit I can raise my pool is to 50 active points in the campaign. So, if I raise my pool to 50 points, do I have to spend exp to raise each slot, since the cost of each slot would still round down to 1 each? Or should I pay the exp per slot to bring it up to the 50 points?

VUlerable to Drains and Transfers
Say you have a character who has a Vulnerabilty to Drains & Transfers. Doubling the amount of points lost is easy enough. If they are targeted with a Drain, they lose double points. If they are targeted with a Transfer, they lose double points... but does the user of the Transfer power gain double points as well?

Explosion: Glue Grenade Mk. II Example
I looked for this in the FAQ and errata and searched the forums but couldn't find anything on it. In the Glue Grenade Mk. II example for Explosion on p. 168, the Explosion advantage is set to +3/4 for -1d6 per 2". Shouldn't this be the default (for a +1/2 Explosion advantage), since Entangle costs 10 points per 1d6, meaning each 1d6 is two DCs?

Increased END vs. Circumstance Taken Multiple Times
With the Increased END vs. a Certain Circumstance rule (H5e.185) I'm not clear on how it would apply if taken multiple times: Let's take the example of the Thaumaturgiacal Dispel example and change it to something more concrete like Fire: - have x1 (no increased END) vs. fire (sympathy) and ice (antipathy) spells. - only x2 vs. other elemental Arcane magic spells (semi-sympathy/antipathy. - if I wanted to keep the x3 vs. other schools (of Arcane Magic) other than pyromancy - but make it cost x4 vs. Divine Magic or Psionic Mentalism Basically, if you have more than one Increased END on a power how do you figure out the limitation? It seem…

Follow-up to Extra Time Only to Activate Instant/Attack
Yes, that's what I'm asking; more specifically I'm trying to get Hero Designer to do it so I can quickly build lots of spells and psionics (since I'm not an unsleeping machine like you are ) and since Dan only uses strictly official rules for HD so I needed an official ruling on Attack powers having Extra time only to activate. So, is it official that this applies to attacks or just a GM decision?

Increased END Only to Activate Instant/Attack Cannon
Hi, The "Only to Activate" at 1/2 of the Limitation thing doesn't seem to be applying in Hero Designer to Instant/Attack powers even though a Cannon (presumably a RKA) is given as an explicit example of this (H5e.187) -- FWIW, I thought that it worked this way in 4e and I didn't see anything in the FAQ about it and I'd like to have some attack spells that take Extra Time to fire the first time but then not take as long for the subsequent phases. I know it says "Constant or Persistant Powers" but the example seems to be saying Instant but it's not clear which one is correct. I just asked this under HD forum (as part of another post with bugs) but it is m…
