It's a good idea to wash your miniatures before you prime and paint them. That way you get rid of any mold releases left in the miniature. You just need an old toothbrush, some soap, and warm water.

I'm going to try using toothpaste instead of soap. Toothpaste cleans well. It's even great for removing tarnish from silver, so it should work well for metal miniatures. Maybe it will work for plastic as well.

Gargling is optional.

I have problems with this chart.  According to it, my gm style is very rules-based.  However,  my actual belief is that rules should enhance the enjoyment of everyone's experience,  not be the dictator of everything. As a result,  I have no problem with modifying or replacing troublesome rules if they are getting in the way of our game. If that makes me a bad gm, then I will continue to operate in this way since players seem to prefer it that way.

I notice a lot of players who want the game run "rules as written" are either rules lawyers or power gamers, mainly because they think they've found a way to maximize their own fun instead of the group as a whole.

I know I'm painting with a broad brush, and there are other reasons for the RAW argument, but I'm also writing from personal experience.

Lately I’ve been poking around about first level characters and their fragility . And there seems to be a white washing of it. 1 level isn’t so deadly , it’s really the players fault. The player shouldn’t have engaged in combat for example. However if you suggest ways to mitigate it then you’re not playing the game right. (Not everyone feels this way of course.)
