Old Man
That's what I do, only instead of a bike, I ride a 3000lb car made of steel, glass, and fire. It protects me from, among other things, lunatic bike riders who consider traffic rules to be guidelines at best.
L. Marcus
I was hit by a car once while biking to work. Had a nasty abrasion. Went to the ER in the evening to have it checked out.

death tribble
In response to this from archer:- That's dedication. I love science fiction. But the books they choose to win Hugo awards often don't appeal to me. I like hard science fiction when I'm in the mood for science fiction and space opera when I'm in the mood to be mindlessly entertained. But those types of stories weren't what was winning Hugo's the last time I was really paying attention to the Hugo's a couple of decades ago. I mean, I looked in on them during the early Sad Puppy era but was looking at the controversy itself rather than the books. I did not pay attention to the list, I looked at it the other day and was able to work out what had read and what I had which was on the list. About every 3 to 5 weeks out here, we'll have a story on the news about a cyclist or pedestrian who got hit by a light rail train (or in one case, a heavy rail commuter train) while crossing the tracks while the barricades were down. So sad, and so completely unnecessary. I get how cyclists might feel that the normal traffic laws may not apply to them because they aren't in cars--they're wrong, of course--but at some point you have to realize that the laws of physics don't care what kind of vehicle you're in. Or on.
death tribble
Oh by the way, Pariah. You replied in the Thread for Random Musings Thread earlier. Report to the punishment blocks. Archer being new has an excuse. You don't. Thus the wrath of Old Man is invoked upon you.
Cancer
It is well established that the most important thing in the universe is a cyclist's momentum.

I've been taking to biking again now that we're back in Portland. It really is a rule, though I've always had a healthy respect for larger masses getting the right of way. The only times I go thru lights is after making sure something isn't going to try to kill me. When I was in the Bay Area and without a car, I had a 20 mile commute, I don't think there was a day that someone didn't try to kill me. (Scatter their ashes illegally, and without any marker, up in some mountain meadow a few miles upslope from their place that looked good at the time.) (I already know my wife disagrees.) Part of my mother in law is in a glass figure, but the rest of her ashes went overboard on our Alaskan cruise. My mom I scattered near where she grew up since she was happiest there. My grandmother got dumped somewhere in the desert...
