Re: "Neat" Pictures

We stock one feeder in our back yard with sunflower seeds. Draws a lot of birds, not just finches.

When we stock the suet feeder, we get lots of insectivorous birds with that. Woodpeckers, nuthatches, warblers, bushtits, and so on.

Excuse me, but what was that last variety again?

It's the bluejays that really attack our sunflowers (but the other birds like them too). I managed to rescue 4 large sunflower heads from the garden before the birds ate them all. :D

We've got a feeder in the back that we put in a mix of millet, sunflower seeds, and cracked corn. Seems to attract a great variety.

Bushtit

Tiny little grey-brown birds that flit from tree to tree (and bush to tree, etc.) eating small insects. They tend to hit the suet feeder hard when they come to it, as the attachment shows.

Do you get (eastern) Blue jays or (western) Stellers jays? We get the latter here, though they go more for peanuts when we set them out instead of sunflower seeds.

I'd appreciate some feedback on this one.

There are some defects in the photo. The camera needed cleaning and I'll be cleaning spots like that before the photo gets printed. It's my first sale in the new career!

Neat. It always helps (IMO) to have some sort of interesting backdrop (mountains in this case). And congratulations on the sale!

"cracked corn"? as in crack(ed) (co)-corn*? :D

I like that, especially the "layers" of the ridges/hills in the backdrop. Did you use a filter or polarizer to bring that out?
