ghost-angel
Re: "Neat" Pictures House finch! They like sunflower seeds. Seeing as bunneh has Sunflowers in his back yard... that's one happy finch.
Cancer
Re: "Neat" Pictures We stock one feeder in our back yard with sunflower seeds. Draws a lot of birds, not just finches. When we stock the suet feeder, we get lots of insectivorous birds with that. Woodpeckers, nuthatches, warblers, bushtits, and so on.

teh bunneh
Re: "Neat" Pictures It's the bluejays that really attack our sunflowers (but the other birds like them too). I managed to rescue 4 large sunflower heads from the garden before the birds ate them all. We've got a feeder in the back that we put in a mix of millet, sunflower seeds, and cracked corn. Seems to attract a great variety.
Cancer
Re: "Neat" Pictures Excuse me, but what was that last variety again? Bushtit Tiny little grey-brown birds that flit from tree to tree (and bush to tree, etc.) eating small insects. They tend to hit the suet feeder hard when they come to it, as the attachment shows. Sadly, I don't have a piccie of them, but there's two who show up in the fall just to eat our sunflowers.

lemming
Re: "Neat" Pictures I'd appreciate some feedback on this one. There are some defects in the photo. The camera needed cleaning and I'll be cleaning spots like that before the photo gets printed. It's my first sale in the new career!

It always helps (IMO) to have some sort of interesting backdrop (mountains in this case). And congratulations on the sale!

I like that, especially the "layers" of the ridges/hills in the backdrop. Did you use a filter or polarizer to bring that out?

Cancer
Re: "Neat" Pictures Heh. As much digital image analysis as I've done, I still think about composition of photos in terms of techniques used in the pre-digital photo-emulsion days. I'm getting old.
