Re: "Neat" Pictures

I'm not certain, but I believe the term rocket technically refers to the drive and drive systems, at least when you are talking to someone in the industry.

I once knew of a blond lady who worked on the shuttle boosters for Martin-Marietta. At social gatherings she wore a button that said "as a matter of fact, I *am* a Rocket Scientist.":nya:

If a rocket scientist and a brain surgeon date, aren't they pretty much obligated to produce offspring?

:D

Re: "Neat" Pictures

Dear old Dad worked for Rocketdyne before becoming a Geologist (Rock-it science).

Rockets: unguided, ballistic.

Missiles: have targeting system installed, guided.

Military has both types that go explody.

Makes sense. Learn something new etc etc rainbow star.

The most famous example being this young lady:

Yep, Dad's a rocket scientist, Mom's a brain surgeon. Turned out pretty well, I think.

Re: "Neat" Pictures

I thought (and I'm no rocket scientist) we just called them rockets when we didn't want to 'splodey someone with them.

Rockets refer either to the engines, or to an unguided projectile using rocket propulsion. A missle is a guided projectile or vehicle using rocket propulsion.

It's warheads that make them go 'splodey. :D Or mishaps...:doi:

Edit: Scooped!
