OK Ive got this super team I'm working on and I'm stuck something is missing i need one more member to complete the roster and i can't come up with a good concept the dream is the UK equivalent of The Avengers or JLA. so any suggestions for heroes or just what powers the team to be effective

The Shining Aegis

the public face of super heroics in Great Britain a shining example to all.

  • Britannia embodiment of the British ideal (brick with mystical weapons and miscellaneous aid type powers)

  • Cold stream everyman soldier with ice powers

  • The Royal Physician Sandringham Dee mystical defender of the realm monster hunter(enchanted guns and other magic)

  • Wyrm cursed with containing power of a great beast he has gained some of its strength and resilience and in emergencies can call forth the beast(though its can become a worse problem than the original foe)

  • Sopwith 4th generation hero expert pilot with a highly agile flying power suit (flying energy blaster) he alos provides the team stealth transport "Black Bess"

  • The general left the military and left under a cloud uses a combination of superior tactics martial arts and a collection of fully functional military toys created by his uncle( a grown up version of general jumbo)

  • The new Englander (affiliated) very hard to hurt improved human physique a competent martial artist aided by super intuition and limited precognition. a master detective, he is not really a member of the team but always seems to arrive at their door just when he is needed.

Re: who's missing from this team

Rep for Cold Stream and Sopwith.

I'm assuming that the mage can do mental powers if needed.

The team seems to have enough combat power, enough ranged attacks, and enough mystic bent. Howabout a superscientist with less in the way of attack powers?

Someone like: Hadrian - superscientist researching energy fields, after accident has various force-field powers and limited teleport. Make him Scottish to help round out the team geographically (and I assume Wyrm is Welsh).

Alternatively (or in addition) an aquatic character would be good, and especially if has water powers would be a nasty combo with Cold Stream. Maybe Channel?

Re: who's missing from this team

I agree. Anyone with any scientific persuasion would greatly enhance your group. A Biologist could combat bio-terrorists (The Beast). A physicist could discover new realms in the negative zone or the microverse (Reed Richards). A Chemist could protect the population from strange poisons and energy sources. An all-around genius with science, robotics, mechanics, electronics (etc) could do all of the above (Hank Pym/Tony Stark).

BTW: Who's their benefactor? Someone has to pay the bills. ;)

Personally, I think a scientist is one of the most interesting profiles to play in the Champions Universe.

Upon second look it seems to me that many of your team are grounded in the mystical arena. Is this by design? Perhaps you have created a theme without intending to?

Oh, and where are the women? You have a giant superhero sausage-fest going on here. :) jk.

Re: who's missing from this team

How about

Lady Rose the teams public relations person with contacts at different levels of society. Adept at persuading others to talk while entranced by her beauty. Do not be fooled by her beautiful looks, she has a few thorns to hurt you with.

I could also suggest a scottish guy with a sword that can only die when his head is chopped off but I think that has been done already.

Re: who's missing from this team

For Bonnie Scotland you could have

The Highlander. Kilt wearing sword wielding man of action. Plus sonic weapon in the bagpipes.

You could call him Black Watch after the Scottish regiment of the same name and fame.

John Bull is another icon of Britain. A man wearing a hat and Union Jack waistcoat. See Blackwyrm Games site for a recent pic.

Union Jack is another iconic figure in comics for Britain. Could make it Union Jacqueline.

St George being the only warrior saint of the four in the British Isles is another possibility.

Any of Arthur's knights or Arthur himself. Similarly a figure called Pendragon who is a descendant of Arthur or his knights.

The Royal Standard is the Lion and the Unicorn so again there are ideas there.

Lancaster and York where the two families who feuded during the Wars of the Roses.

Cavalier and Roundhead nearly 200 years later were Royalists vs Parliamentarians in the official English Civil War.

Famous victories whose names could be used to name heroes include

Trafalgar. Nelson vs Napoleon

Crecy. Longbow slaughter of the French by the English

Agincourt. As above but 50 years later.

Naesby. Parliament triumph over Royalist. Birth of New Model Army.

Waterloo. Anglo-Prussian victory over Napoleon

Trust me on this. I am British

EDIT: Then there was Merlin of course

Re: who's missing from this team

Andraste - The Warrior Goddess (Andrasta, Adraste, Andred)

(Romano-Celtic; British; Anglo-Celtic; Continental Europe) The patron Goddess of the Iceni tribe.

Andraste is a warrior goddess, the goddess of victory, of ravens and of battles, similar in many ways to the Irish war goddess Morrigan. Her name is thought to mean "the invincible one" or "she who has not fallen". It is told that her presence was evoked on the eve of battle to curry favor. As a Goddess of divination, she was probably called upon to divine the outcome of battles and war.

Make her a super-scientist with powered armor who believes she is really an aspect of the goddess using modern tech and weaponry to continue her fight.

Re: who's missing from this team

The Nightmare.

Marianne 'Mare' Wellington has had horrible dreams since she was a child growing up in Bristol. Everything her parents tried to do, all the psychiatrists they took her too could do nothing. The nightmares were maddening. In a pique of desperation they took her to a non-traditional herbalist who had recently immigrated from Haiti. The apothocary worked with Mare for an afternoon and on into the evening. He gave her a poultice upon her forehead and explained that she had become possessed by her Nightmares. But with her help when they were done, she instead would possess the nightmares instead of having them possess her.

The nightmares subsided and Mare was free to sleep again. But she found she really could Possess the nightmares, as she had been told. And when she wished to, she could transform into a creature of ebony with cloven feet, who could run at great speeds with black and purple flames coming from her feet and mouth. She could breathe the black flames as a gout, and use her black form to hide in shadows. And with great effort, she could release the Nightmare upon another, though the results of this are far too terrifying to describe, let alone make a habit.

( Speedster, with an EB, minor invisibility powers and a rarely used Mental Illusions )

Hell, I think I'll use her, though you are free to.

Re: who's missing from this team

Shouldn't one of them be a Royal of some sort?

I think you are also missing the reprobate. The modern superhero team needs someone with a nasty reputation who spits, smokes, calls people "bub" and makes the anal retentive team leader antsy.

I suggest Jack. Mysterious background, super-agile martial artist, spits fire, super leaps, carries an assortment of genuinely wicked knives, has Rasputin-like Presence. Perhaps make him the royal.

Not unlike a character I once played named "Springheel Jack", based on the urban legend of the same name. It'd be kinda funny if he was a Prince in his secret ID.

Re: who's missing from this team

hmm some good suggestions

looks like I'm looking for a welsh female scientist/movement specialist.

I liked your suggestion vanguard but i may make her an independent hero

as to the sausage fest sandringham dee is female ( her friends call her sandra or sandy) as is britannia ( shes also 19 years old and bangladeshi)

for royalty none unfortunatly but Sopwith is almost a lord well his father is so he just has to wait to inherit.

sopwiths superhero name comes from his flight system which has 4 control fins and he chose it based on the plane flown by his great grandfather a WWI flying ace and adventurer(that plane was the first Black Bess) Sopwith also runs a successful high tech R&D company (think iron man with more emphasis on the flying and less on the guns)

coldstream is the nominal Scot of the team but only just across the border by a few miles(most of the Scottish heroes tend to remain in their native land for some reason).

serpent Wyrm is actually from northumbria in the north of england on the border with scotland his curse is based on a very popular local folk tale/song.

i shoudl probably mention that as well as being a demi brick he also wears enchanted armour and carries a big sword.

golden age

the team is government sponsored run by the department of administrative affairs

the theme is sort of intentional i wrote a little rant on UK heroes awhile back which is where my UK hero project came from and mystical artifacts knowledge and curses are one of the key origins for the UK.

Arkham i really liked nightmare but she is a bit to much like another independant hero and doesn't really fit the bright and shiny image of the Aegisbut thanks for sharing

everknight I liked lady rose but I already have someone similar on the other government team The Tower Ravens (the iron age team)

How about...

The Dole: A fairly normal chap, a bit caustic around the edge, with a general air of disdain at the state of the world. He's capable of creating hundreds of duplicates. Each duplicate is capable of a variety of seperate skills. One is a master mechanic, another is a concert pianist, and another is a damn fine gymnast. Together, represents the masses of England.

Technically Brittania should be a woman.

Having visited the Crown Jewels recently I was playing around with the idea of having them be mystical artifacts in my campaign which would lead to the leader of the British superheroes being:

Regina

Using mystical artefacts created by England's royal sorcerers from mystical gemstones 'collected' from around the world during the height of the British Empire, Queen Elisabeth II fights against the enemies of her country both foreign and domestic as the great heroine Regina (with her sidekick/squire 'Beef-Eater').

Typical Quote: "Hand us the Sword of Mercy. We mean to put this villian out of his misery"

(P.s. In case your wondering the Sword of Mercy is an actual part of the Crown Jewels, along with the Swords of Temporal and Spiritual Justice).

Re: who's missing from this team

well i have a character to fit the role her origin still needs some fleshing out.

Holltwr(cleaver) Anna Llewellyn

a self taught super genius of uncertain origin (she may not be from this century this planet or even this universe) what is known about her other than her outlandish dress(and the fact she talks much to fast in welsh when shes excited) is that she managed to create a device that could open a rift in space time (which can then be widened and shaped by her gauntlets)to well anywhere that is if she can get the coordinates right which is fine for travelling across the room but leads to all sorts of problems when she decides to go say, back in time or to Proxima centauri for the weekend.

she calls it cleaving space thus her name welsh for cleaver Anna is a restless traveller constantly exploring the earth and anywhere else her device can take her ( often by accident the coordinate system is a bit fussy).

she has become quite the expert on cultural anthropology her ability to grasp alien cultures is almost uncanny as is her knowledge of species and technologies from other planets and dimensions (her grasp of history is a bit spotty shes kind of lost track of which time line shes in)

During her travels shes acquired a lot of high technology artifacts from well shes not exactly sure some pan-dimensional mall she wandered into one time or the place with the tall blue guys and the odd music. This includes a highly advanced low profile space suit and force field armour as well as advanced tools and a couple of weapons ( or they could just be incredibly potent kids toys ).

whenever shes stopping over on earth she tends to hang out with the shining aegis they do interesting things and go to fun places and that's what Anna is looking for. occasionally she might take them away for a holiday to one of her favorite places, though there's no guarantee they will get there (they may miss that left turn at Albuquerque again).

Re: who's missing from this team

To validate the point Britannia in all the pictures you will ever see is represented as a woman. Usually with a spear and trident.

Then again other than Guinevere who was Arthur's queen and Boadacea or Boudicca we don't have warrior queens. With the exception of one of the King Edwards who was a bit that way. And died by a red hot poker up the backside.

Elizabeth 1st did not fight herself but did have loyal subjects who did.

Re: who's missing from this team

Freakboy6117, I liked your concept for Holltwr, but...um...no offense intended, but did you mean to make her sound like a reduced-power female version of Doctor Who?

(Not that playing a reduced-power female version of Doctor Who is necessarily a bad thing. In our sort-of Star Hero game, I have a renegade Time Lord character who calls herself "the Valeyard" -- and she's fantastic fun to play!)

Re: who's missing from this team

I think the team needs Gloriana. Make her an absolutely fabulous former page 3 party girl with light powers and a sparkling personality. Perhaps she was famous for being famous before she got her powers and is trying to come to grasp with being responsible and relied upon now. Good at heart but a bit of a flibberdigibbet. Model her after Jordan, if you want someone that top-heavy on the team.

Re: who's missing from this team

haven the answer there would be yes i was even going to give her a sonic screwdriver and some slightly psychic paper.

though strictly speaking shes actually slightly more powerful than the good doctor super powers plus her TARDIS is portable

brilliant idea casual player but i think shes more suitable for the Birmingham brigade the celebrity obsessed independent team (used to be the crusading socially responsible team but hey its the new millennium)
