Re: Order of the Stick

I don't quite see how LG equates to puritan. LG characters follow the spirit of the law and are helpful to those in need. That doesn't mean they are prudes who abstain from sex or promiscuity. They just wouldn't take advantage of a situation for their own gain.

Slight quibble: Lawful characters follow a well-defined code of conduct, which may or may not have any resemblance to local laws. If they live in Town Of Evil, they may well be ferocious law-breakers.

That's pretty clear in the books; lawful vs chaotic are about internal rules and codes, an ordered ethical existance, not about following externally-derived laws. This doesn't stop WotC making that very same mistake over and over again in various supplements, which furthers confusion among the fan-base (considering that this was the major change in alignment from previous editions).

Re: Order of the Stick

I wonder just what sort of storage arrangements they have for Roy's corpse.

There is a spell that can preserve corpses, keeping them fresh for purposes of raising (since it's much easier to raise an intact corpse, and less smelly).

But another possiblities ties in with Belkar's absence. We do, after all, know what his highest skill total is in.

As noted earlier, I don't know if Raise Dead will even work any more after all this time. It might have to be a True Resurrection.

As for Belkar if they went that appetizing route...possession anyone? :sneaky:

Re: Order of the Stick

i'm currently playing a druid, and found a neat use for the light spell. we were tracking down this Emerald Claw guy (from Eberron, bad news, those ones) who we kept losing in the crowds of Sharn (the MEGA city in Eberron, kinda like NTC in reality...or maybe Tokyo). i cast light on an arrow, then shot him with it. he stuck out like a sore thumb (it was dark out) everytime he ducked down an alley. he caught him and found out the whole plot like three sessions before we were supposed to. it was awesome....

but even i never thought of dancing lights like that before....:)

I have to admit' date=' that's a very smart use of Dancing lights. Never actually occoured to me to use it like that. I wonder how many spell casters have actually used it like that.[/quote']

I've used Dancing lights for a lot of things, and that includes signal flares, but never made a pattern code.... VERY worth ripping off.

Re: Order of the Stick

Likewise. It was soooo frustrating the last time I played D&D to deal with stupid cannon fodder bad guys that forgot some of their own racial abilities.

Then we have the idiot PCs who don't when to retreat. It's a shame that Paladins are often portrayed so. What's a GM to do when the Party plays with common sense turned off? Personally, I tend to be rather unsympathetic to the players who're like that. :eg:

The opposite problem gets old pretty fast, too. It's like Eye of the World: the RPG.

(Yes, I've finally waded into THAT thing. I'm SO sick of the PCs running away every time something interesting happens.)
