Susano
And you thought superheroes existed only in fiction? Inspired by fiction superheroes such as Batman and Superman, these people wear masks and capes in order to fight real crime on the strets. Here's a list with 10 of the most famous real-life superheroes. I had heard of Superbarrio, Terrifica, and Angle Grinder Man And I'm fairly sure if I started a supers campaign, all of them would be included (and I'd probably give them all super-powers). OddHat
Re: 10 Real-life Superheroes Angle Grinder Man is technically a Supervillain, albeit one the police don't seem too worried about. Terrifica seems really annoying. Your date gets drunk, and an annoying woman in a costume shows up and starts threatening you with mace. These guys would make for a great campaign, especially given low level powers. I love the comments by the employed members of the crowd on only being able to patrol a few nights a week. Pariah
Re: 10 Real-life Superheroes From the pictures, it looks like Citizen Prime is the only one wearing any kind of protective gear. I makes me think the others are potential Darwin Award winners looking for the spot.
BobGreenwade
Re: 10 Real-life Superheroes A pity Captain Sticky, aka the late Richard Pesta, couldn't make the list. Out of the ten, though, I do wonder which would come out on top on their own version of Who Wants to Be a Superhero?

Let's face it....even a single 15- or 20-point Psych Lim would be enough to get you committed (or at least medicated) in the real world. And most published supers have at least two of them.... OddHat
Re: 10 Real-life Superheroes Hmmm...some of them seem like people with weird senses of humor. Others seem like people with real psychological issues. True. One or two (particularly Superbario) are activists with a gimmick. Considering the other approaches to drawing attention to a cause, at least it's an entertaining gimmick.

Definitely a real-life hero. Yeah. Going back to the more cheerful and frivolous tone of the original thread, I remember seeing Captain Sticky on some TV show when I was a kid-- I want to say Wonderama. He was pretty fun. Don't some of the luchadores have a sort of superhero persona going? El Santo, in particular, comes to mind.
input.jack
Re: 10 Real-life Superheroes An old ex friend of mine's step-father was a hard-core biker, and back in the 1980's he used to rollerblade around his neighborhood in Los ANgeles at night with his six foot tall, athletic girlfriend, both of them with hockey sticks and skull-painted goalie masks, beating up gang-bangers to keep them out of the neighborhood. They were actually tough enough to not only get away with doing it, they also succeeded in keeping the gang drug dealers out of their local area. Iuz the Evil
Re: 10 Real-life Superheroes Let's face it....even a single 15- or 20-point Psych Lim would be enough to get you committed (or at least medicated) in the real world. And most published supers have at least two of them.... Nah, there's lots of folks walking around with 15+ point psych lims. The key (typically) to institutionalization is danger to self, danger to others, or "gravely disabled". As the county/state where one is institutionalized bears the responsibility for payment to maintain the individual in said treatment facility, the trend is to refrain from doing so (see: "least restrictive environment"). There are exceptions to this, but having worked in the field for a decade and a half plus, I assure you it is the growing trend. As a result, psych lims like "arrogant" or phobias typically won't get you hospitalized unless you're really threatening someone else or yourself (or possibly impaired sufficiently, like with a "total" level agoraphobia). Major depression requires some level of suicidality or impairment (typically, so again we're talking pretty high level point totals I'd think). I could see "naive trust in fellow man" (strong, common) or something of that nature never coming to the attention of any mental health professional (even though as it'd cause them impairment in vocational, social, or legal ways it would probably result in diagnosis if it did). Just my 2cp.
