Re: Super Names

Rappacinni's Daughter -- Raised by her botanist-father in a sealed conservatory amongst his prized poisonous blooms, she absorbed the flowers' poisons into every part of her body. As a young woman, she escaped her father and eventually became a superhero -- a venomous superhero. Her breath, her touch, her tears, her skin...every part of her is toxic to some degree, depending on the part of her body that was the source.

RD can neither control nor affect her own toxicity. She is immune to all botanical poisons, but reacts to plant-based anti-toxins as a normal person would to deadly poisons. Her father, brilliant botanist Dr. Bernardo di Rappacinni, has never ceased hunting for his daughter, his "most cherished flower."

Secret ID -- Constanza di Rappacinni

Quote -- "Don't fear my shadow...alone of all my parts it is not poison."

Re: Super Names

And a couple that are just names...and a few hints:

Kid Charlemagne

Toxin

Gandydancer -- probably a powered armor wearer or a gadgeteer. The name was used for the engineers on the locomotives during the Golden Age of steam trains. I love the name!

Gallowglass -- archaic English term for a mercenary

Wormwood -- a bitter, poisonous substance used to make absinthe. Also the name of the star that falls from Heaven and taints the waters during the events described in Revelations.

I like all of these!

Just as a note tho...

Gallowglass isn't an archaiac English teerm as much as an Anglicized GAelic term... Galloglaigh, Gallogleas plureal (IIRC).

Literal translation means "Young Forigen Warrior". Usually refered to scottish mercenaries who fought in the fashion of the Norsemen (the Gal, or forigners mentioned in the name... also where we get the names of a lot of norse founded port cities like Galway), that is to say in mail hauberks with helm and 2 handed great axe. Rather highly piad buggers they were too.

Still would make a great name for a merc :D

And heres a bit of a reprint from another old thread... (while on the gaelic topic)

Fianna Na Erinn (Warriors/Defenders of Ireland)

Riastrah (Battle fury) the term for Chuchulains warp spasm... I'd go for a berserker brick type, like a more controled Hulk

Ildanach (Many Talented) A jack of trades, probably Batman gageteer/superskill type

Buanna (Solider... alternate meaning bully) Nick Fury type or power armor?

Sluaigh (Host, as in group or force) Duplicator

Lurachas (Surpassing Beauty, gemlike woman) Gem based Energy projector (female... its a feminine word)

Sealgair (Hunter) super archer or gunman type

I could come up with others, but that'd be a good start.

I suppose you could add one more...

Amadan (Fool) Madness inducing egoist

Re: Super Names

Isn't the full word Gotterdammerung? maybe with two dots over the "o"? I don't know. Supposed to be the end of the world. Apocalyps IIRC. Of course I don't always RC.

Apocalypse in the Biblical sense is HimmelFahrt (litterally: Ascension Day).

Götterdämmerung (dots over the 'o' and 'a') is litterally "Twighlight of the Gods" which could be taken as Apocalypse, but I'm not sure that's the intention. I could be wrong...

Very cool idea, though to me she'd make an even better villain.

She'd make a great girlfriend for Thorn from CKC.

Re: Super Names

One of my own PCs:

Moment [a 'turning force' in physics] - he was good at angling forces to deflect/reflect stuff, fly by deflecting himself away from the ground etc.; basically he was a rip-off of the Marvel guy by the name of Vector (head of the U-Foes; Hulk opponents), but without the Unluck and crass stupidity ;) .

BTW, as I just mentioned, Vector is trademarked, as is The Needle (a really old and obscure Golden Age DC villain - fought The Star Spangled Kid).

Finally a couple of names that just sounded good:

Baron Blight

Odium

His secret identity given name could be Ragnar Rock.

Re: Super Names

Now go deal with that Tarantula guy! Or is he only in City of Villains? :)

Lord Recluse is a City of Villains thing. Having played City of Heroes for over a year, I'm looking forward to my invite to the closed beta.

The iconic characters of both games will eventually be opponents to be faced by the other side. So City of Heroes players can try to put a smackdown on Lord Recluse, Scirocco, Captain Mako and Ghost Widow, and City of Villains players can gun for Statesman, Positron, Minx, and Synapse. Minx has already shown up in the E3 demo of CoV. She spawned at the entrance of the mission when the demo toon grabbed the objective and tried to kick his hoop.
