Re: Super Names

Here's a few more:

Weird Wizard - comes from a place where different physical laws apply. A powerful wizard, but his spells are rarely straightforward and his goals are murky. He is more dangerous because of those he has created who implement his arcane plans (see below) and as a plot device.

Gatekeeper - linked to an unpleasant dimension of horrors, Gatekeeper brings creatures through his body. These are not compelled to obey Gatekeeper and have been turned against him on occasion. They will never attack him, since his death will end their existence on Earth and they like it here. They will defend him if they can.

Sound of Silence, The - when his powers manifested he nearly died. He has the power of solipsism, and became increasingly convinced that nothing mattered at all - until he accidently discovered how to project this power onto others for a measure of relief from it. Those affected act without regard for objective reality, their own safety, or that of their teammates. Until the effect fades they are utterly convinced that the world is a dream and irrelevant. His name was inspired by a song he once heard.

Eighth Color, The - wields strange magic that is neither black nor white, but is the opposite face of the coin of which black and white are one face. Similar in some ways to Weird Wizard, but more grounded and effective. Loosely inspired by the "Discworld" series.

Biohorror - a mad genius who likes to experiment. His favorite experimental subjects are DNPCs... Pressed, he relies on a small arsenal of living technology, most of which is vicious, toxic, irritating, fanged, clawed, or sometimes all of those.

Dark Mirror - can transform himself into the opposite of a character he touches in combat. Hard to use because the GM must prepare alternate forms ahead of the session. For example, if he touches a fire projector he becomes an ice wielder.

Glass Assassin - His body is more like a folded polyethylene film than actual living tissue. He is not amorphous, exactly, but he lacks bones and has a non-differentiated cell structure that makes injuring him difficult. He is difficult to see if he "unfolds" and remains still, and he can construct razor sharp implements by refolding his own flesh. This is not painless, but he has learned to do it without making noise.

Re: Super Names

THE CRUSADERS

This group is my demonstration game that I run at the local gaming store here. These characters are pregenerated in order to get into the game quickly. Most of these characters are based on JLA members. they include...

Star Knight: The leader of the team. He is a Questoran, a powerful and immortal alien who, like other members of his race, is on a life-long quest. In his case, to destroy evil.

Chapperal: The team's speedster and move-thru artist. He's one the city's most powerful financiers and is CEO of the city's main bank.

Demonangel: Mistress of hellfire and other black arts whose mission is to atone for her family's evil past. She is the city's main philanthropist and and is Chapperal's main rival (when both are in their secret ID's)

Steel Dragon: The team's martial artist with dragon-like powers. He is scourge of the city's "Little Tokyo" district where the triads have a "slight" disagreement with him.

Lancer: Steel Dragon's partner in Little Tokyo. Little is known of her past except she is of alien origin and carries a collapsible lance that fires various ammos.

Blockade: He has the ability transform into four earth-like forms (rock, metal, crystal, and sand). His main enemies are the drug cartels who turned him into what he is.

Sea Lord: A British shipping magnate with full underwater life support and can use water as a weapon both above and below the surface. He is a fierce defender of the seas.

Scarlet Eagle: A native of Procyon IV who crashed to Earth in pursuit of a dangerous criminal. He is strong, agile, and a deadly air-to-air combatant. He part of his planet's police force.

Bronze Eagle: Scarlet Eagle's rookie partner with the same abilities. She is the team's chief pilot and archivist. Both have deadly vulnerabilities to Platinum, which dosen't exist on their homeworld. She is the more cerebral of the two.

Valkyrjur: A young Norwegian woman who wields mystical weapons and powers derived from a mystical order of female warriors whose sect has been around since the days of the Vikings.

They operate out of Crusader Citadel in the city of Liberty Metropolis(basically Philadelphia in a parallel universe).

Re: Super Names

Some of these I have used in games, others are names used by my players and the rest are NPC heroes and villains I've created.

Heroes:

Voltiac: Electro-magnetic energy projector. Also my long time superhero persona.

Weretiger: Shape-changer MA. Always getting in trouble for seducing the female villains...

Swift Justice: Speedster with a baton, has hair that always waves in the breeze, even indoors... Cripple without his symbiotic organism suit.

Plasman: scientist with a bulky powered armor suit with a wide variety of EBs. While not a good combat hero he does have lots of science skills.

Psyman: mentalist with a 'power of positive thinging' EC... His biggest gimmick is Invisibility that isn't affected by remote viewing or recording devices and has a limited range.

Slinger: Flying energy projector who's powers are based on TK.

Dark Archer: An arrow for every occasion.

Sun Pack: Light based energy projector.

Alley Cat: Skill based martial artist with mostly normal human stats (Spd 5)

Safari Jack: Detective with a big honking gun.

Porcupine: Martial artist with spiky exterior.

Jaguar: pocket brick with a killing attack and enhanced senses for tracking.

Dr Medusa: hero mastermind, good selection of skills to run a super group and one hell of a presence attack (-20 Com).

Mirror: Reflection vs everything with some MA.

Shift: Shape-changing pocket brick can assume any form, even inanimate objects. "The end table body blocks you out the window..."

Golem: Brick, silicon based alien.

Impulse: Speedster with Flight touching surfaces, also a computer geek.

Boom: Brick with a no range explosion linked to his Haymaker.

Lady Lightning: electical energy projector.

Copy Cat: Duplicating shapeshifter with lots of skills and some MA.

Manly Mann: Vainglorious Brink, scietist, athlete, painter, media hound, sexist pig.

Villains:

Ingot: Brick with a gambling problem...

Hammer Hand: MA with some gadgets and a serious HA.

Blacksnake: High speed MA with a whip.

LowBlow: female MA with a Recovery drain that only works on men.

Slaughter: AE RKAs designed to kill bystanders.

Terror: MA with a Pre drain with a linked presence attack.

Wraith: Desol who pays End to become solid so he can make his stat drain attacks.

Ghetto Blaster: Hoodlum with sonic powers.

Mean Streak: Speedster, MA, mercenary.

Tank: Power Armor, this guy started out as an NPC scientist researching power armor for the Gov't. An accident in the lab, caused by an idiot PC, nearly killed him and left him horribly crippled and blind. With the aid of his brother Vincent he completed his best suit to date and became Tank to get back at the imbecile who caused him so much grief.

Other:

Auntie Freeze: Female with ice powers, but not ranged. Started out as a teen heroin Ice Princess and was taken advantage of by Manly Mann and dumped in a very public way. Went to the Dark Side as Frost Queen and humiliated M. Mann several times until jailed. Has returned as a super for hire under her current name.

Group names:

PRI: Parapsychological Research Institute. Good guys that seek out and train people with mental powers of all sorts.

P.O.W.E.R.: Bad guys, Political Overthrowers with Energy Rifles. My good friend Jesse Blankenship came up with the acronym while we were working on a champaign in Germany.

T.H.U.G.: Bad guys, Teenage Hoodlums Usurping the Government. Another great name from Jesse.

Night Shift: Vigilantes, horrific/mystical powers.

MaS FaBeT: Not sure. Mad Scientists for a Better Tomorrow. Yes, like in the INWO Card.

MaS FaBeY: Bag guys, Mad Scientists for a Better Yesterday (Yes, Yesterday!)

Tank Corps: Bad Guys. Powered armor group with military overtones. Leader: Tank.
