Lord Liaden
Re: Naming the baby I'm considering just rendering 6E as "Sixy" in all my correspondence. It's phonetically sound, and the implication is obvious.
Balabanto
Re: Naming the baby I'm still going with "SexEd." There's no way to deny it anymore. Anyway, the problem I found was that every clean acronym had negative connotations that turned people away from the system. I'm not going to say the one that first came to mind, but people can message me if they want. Marketing-wise, I'd rather have "SexEd" than this, and I don't want to be responsible for a purchasing downturn.

薔薇語
Re: Naming the baby I'm calling it SED, with the E pronounced as a I, as in Sid. We had Fred, now we have Sed (sid). La Rose Maybe Sid could be an acronym for Sixth Incarnation Devised -- Developed -- Discovered That way it would be SID proper and without the need for changing the e to an i. Burrito Boy
Re: Naming the baby Yes, Sean. It's a completely backhanded marketing technique. But YES! Who cares if the majority of the people who log in use the system to make Porn Hero? It doesn't MATTER. Making the system KNOWN matters. It's a toolkit. No pun intended. I've done way too much work on 5th Edition Porn Hero to switch to 6th. No matter how appropriate the SexEd nickname is for it.

Headclot
Re: Naming the baby Fifth edition got abbreviated to FRED, and the name stuck. The revised edition wound up being universally refered to as 5ER, which I though was a shame in many ways - it would have been nice to actually have a pet name for the edition. So, I'm getting in early for the 6th edition and trying to go for hearts and minds - what are we going to call it? Sixthed sounds quite nice, IMO, but I doubt people will be bothered to type it, and 6thed or 6ED just don't do it for me. So, how about going back to naming the edition, perhaps a cunning acronym, or maybe just some alliterative device: Steve Six, perhaps. Sara Six? Or we could go for gutter humour: 6y. Maybe not. Any thoughts? Lets call it Steve Six as in Steve Long sixth edition
ghost-angel
Re: Naming the baby SEF Sixth Edition F---ed. That can be "flushed" if we're being family friendly. That about did it. You know what - people don't like the changes. For whatever reason. Cool. People don't even want to buy the books. Cool. But some of us are looking forward to it. Some of us are going to at least give it a shot. Some of us kind of like what's going on. Insulting the rules IS NO MORE APPROPRIATE than any who want to be treated with respect regarding their decision to not like or want to check out the new edition. SO CUT IT OUT. EVERYBODY. BOTH SIDES. NOW. In ALL the threads. Comment on the changes. But insults OF ANY KIND are inappropriate, directed at People or the Edition. It purile. SteveZilla
Re: Naming the baby 6e. I'm for this one. "6E" sounds too close to "Sexy" for many gamers to resist the (un)ususal jokes/puns.

Then when we are talking about it in public other people not in on the "Joke" will know what we are talking about too. I'm favoring 6E, m'self. Easy to say, easier to type, loaded with humorous potential, but best of all, an easy and accurate abbreviation of Sixth Edition. to outsiders we can call it Sexy Hero
Korvar
Re: Naming the baby To be honest, we shouldn't try and name it. Any abbreviation, name, whatever, will come about naturally. And will be better for it.

Sean Waters
Re: Naming the baby Well, organic development has its advantages, but bear in mind it might not end up where you want it. Years back we had a series of community punishments in the UK for criminal offences, including the Community Rehabilitation Order and the Community Punishment Order. You could also combine the two punishments into a single order, which, almost inevitably, was refered to at every opportunity as a Community Rehabilitation And Punishment Order. That came about perfectly naturally, believe me - no one was campaigning for that name, but a little foresight earlier on could have avoided the stink. PhilFleischmann
Re: Naming the baby It's going to be two books, so they'll each need their own nickname. We'll probably have to wait and see. The 4th Ed book was called BBB - Big Blue Book. Let's campaign to get Steve to make the covers teal, so they can be TTT - Two Teal Tomes. Or not. Some terms from craps (the dice game): Sixie from Dixie (Since they're HQ'ed in South Carolina, or was it North Carolina?) Sister Hicks Jimmy Hicks Columbian Breakfast (two white lines) But yes, it needs to be "organic". Nicknames must be earned.
