Carla Asherick became known as Perception. She can change how things look which changes what they mean. Locked doors are unlocked because the knob moved. Bushes that look like dogs are really the meanest dogs around. Places on a map are closer on the street.

 

She finds that her power has problems when faced with what others consider reality which is why she can't figure out how their team mascot happened to drink all the alcohol in their hotel rooms during a vacation.

Moldy Skull, aka Dana Fox, was one of the top special effects artists in the world, when an alien landed in the middle of the production department during the taping of the latest film she was working for. The alien, furious about the way ALL aliens Dana created were hideous, deformed, and ugly beings shot her with a beam that permanently changed her face to look like a decaying, rotting Skull. Of course, Dana didnt believe it was a real alien, for you see, aliens DO NOT EXIST!. Neither does Magic, or superhero's, or the like. Anyone who believes so is clearly delusional or suffering from the effects of some form of drug. Show her ANY evidence that any of the above do exist, and she will quickly begin to describe, in great detail, how this was all done with special effects and trickery. No attempt to persuade her will ever manage to convince her otherwise. She joined the Teen Skeptics after being fired from her SFX career as the producers were now afraid of the wrath of the alien. Her goal is to finally convince the world that these things just DONT exist, and to find some sort of solvent to dissolve whatever glue it is that is holding this stupid skull mask to her skin.

Matt Anderson is Man of Action. He's good looking, he dresses well, he has money, he has transportation, he has contacts and he is absolutely petrified of almost everything out of the normal. His psychiatrist prescribed a regime of body building and public speaking in debate societies to get over his chromic fears. Quite by accident he debunked a haunting when he fell over and uncovered the wires that lead to tape recorders and photo imaging equipment. At the time he was backing away in fright. No matter it made the news and brought him to the attention of the others. The first time he met Dana he collapsed in a dead faint. So he tends to hang around with Carla. The others find him useful because he has access to vehicles and contacts which is always handy. Also his public speaking and demeanour help with all sorts of people. They in turn are helping him with his phobias.

New Team: The Fearless Five ! These young heroes were bright, perky, determined and an inspiration to the country. They also vanished over a decade ago when in conflict with members of the Rogue Battalion.

The leader of the Battalion is sick and tired of explaining that no, it wasn't the fault of the Rogue Battalion and that he does not know what happened to the Fearless Five !

Your mission should you choose to accept it is the following:

Name a member of the team;

How they were an inspiration to today's youth;

What happened to them when they clashed with the Rogue Battalion;

Points are awarded on the basis of a coherent narrative, linking other posts together after the first one, having the person still be alive incapitated or otherwise, entertainment value.

Points are deducted for having the team fake its own demise, have one or more turn rogue and kill the others (this would have been found out some time since), have one flee with the money and live a life in paradise. Other deductions at my discretion.

Further information: No member of the Battalion was over 30. They can be as young as 16

The Rogue Battalion numbered 7 at this point in time and had been around for about a decade with members coming and going. They were never regarded as cold blooded ruthless murderers although they did have members who were nasty.

The Fearless Five ! had other hunteds who may have (i.e. did) exploited the fight with the Battalion for their own ends.

The team was always referred to with the Exclamation Mark !

Unless the thread dies a death I won't post for this team.

You can post more than one member with the proviso that two other people must have posted since. i.e. the first poster can post team member 4 as well.

Cyberia was born Cybil Ann Haversmith. As a geek and an introvert she was frequently picked on and tormented by her schoolmates, and this escalated into series of viscous and cruel attacks on the internet, including a number of video's of her on YouTube that showed her in embarrassing (and in one particular one nearly totally undressed) situations. While multiple attempts to remove the offending material were made, they kept creeping up, and would show on other social networks as well. This became even worse when the cyber-bullies discovered that she generally spent most of her time online in various forums and online games and began stalking and harrassing her there as well. It was during a violent blizzard on a particular day that the change happened. Infuriated by another attack on her in one of her favorite online games she threw her laptop out a closed window. Disgusted with herself she went outside during the blizzard to retrieve the laptop in hopes that it was still salvageable when she was struck by lighting. The storm was not natural and had been created by a mystical villain as an attack against the city, and the lightning strike had the unsuspected effect of fusing Cybil with both the raging power of the storm, and the technology of her laptop. Thus was the hero Cyberia formed. With her ice and technopath powers she started an anti-cyber bullying campaign and started recruiting other members to form a team that would stand up for the weak, the picked on, and the bullied and would show that there was no reason to fear. The Fearless Five! was born!

 

Cyberia was hosting one of her many guest speeches at a High School in Alaska when the call came in on her communicator that the Rogue Battalion was at it again. Making her excuses to the students, and ending with her catch phrase "Let's all work together to FREEZE out bullies!" She dove into the laptop to travel via the internet to the site of the attack. However she never arrived. Cyberia is now trapped in the internet. She isn't quite sure why she is unable to leave it at this time, but now she continues her fight against cyber-bullying by deleting post, freezing out internet access of bullies, and any other way she can. No one else knows that she is still alive, but many a repair man has been called out to handle another odd case of a computer frozen from the inside out.......

Michael "Bull" Leslie had been a popular star football player at a Texas university. He would have been a pro star if not for 2 reasons. The first was the disappearance of his younger sister, which he became obsessed with finding only to learn she had met an untimely demise at the hands of one named Mr. Wicked's minions. (see another thread around here somewhere). The second was the fact he became bonded to a family heirloom an old European sword (Spanish-his mother had Spanish roots) in his attempt to find a way to avenge his sister. The sword had supernatural abilities giving him powers. (super strength, super speed, and energy blast from the sword itself). Apart from the above mentioned powers it also gave him the power to transform into a beast with the face (mask?) of a longhorn skull by "absorbing" the sword. And the powers that the sword had given would be even further increased. (though occasionally, it could overwhelm him and run the possibility to go berserk.). He took on the heroic identity Herd and became a big supporter of ending all human trafficking.

 

On the day, of the battle, he had been ordered to stay in the background for support and to wait for Cyberia. Unfortunately, Mr. Wicked had considered him to big a thorn in his side, and he had a certain futuristic pirate associate of his send Herd into the 31st century. Herd still hopes to find his way home, while helping those of his new time in need of his help, in the meantime.

The heroine known as Princess Z held the Sign of Wisdom and worked to preserve certain wild areas against the encroachment of civilization. She led the first recycling and restoration campaign in her spare time.

 

Her most frequent enemy was Cannon, and they clashed many times, pitting their respective signs against each other. The Princess usually forced him to retreat from battle with her sign and skills as a hand to hand fighter.

 

On the day of the battle, Cannon caught her unaware and shunted her to their original timeline. Unfortunately, she took her sign with her.

 

Cannon has since become embroiled in a rivalry with the Fairy Man as he has tried to reverse his mistake.

Mikah Jordan, the daughter of the second cousin twice removed of the famous Michael Jordan (who she was named after) was a fairly average teenager who decided to follow in her famous relatives footsteps. She showed great promise and was selected as a member of the US Women's Basketball team for the 2012 olympics when her life took a sudden, freakish turn. Almost overnight Mikah grew to be over 8 ft tall when her latent mutant genes suddenly activated. Suddenly she was ineligible to compete in the olympics and her dreams were shattered. That's when Dickson Dover came into her life and recruited her into his new "Mutant Athletic Association" where teams of superhumans would compete in variations of popular sports. He presented her with a special Basketball designed of space age materials similar to those found in the novelty high bounce balls and billed her as "Double Dribble". It didn't take long for Mikah to realize, however, that the MAA was more about violence and Mutant bashing than about real sports, so she soon left the league. She took her trick ball with her and began using it with her increased strength and agility to fight crime and protect others. She kept the moniker Double Dribble, although she secretly hates it. Not long after this she was recruited into the Fearless Five! by Cyberia where she frequently promoted athletics and encouraged kids to "get out and PLAY!" in her frequent demo's. Her comical ball highjinks, reminiscent of the Harlem Globetrotters but even more amazing due to her mutant abilities, quickly won her fans and approval in schools across the country and she frequently had to juggle her crime fighting duties with the requests of yet another school where she was requested to perform.

 

During the fight against the Rogue's she was the first one into the fray, headstrong as usual. However things quickly started taking a turn for the worst. Cyberia never arrived. Herd and the Princess mysteriously vanished. And then she came face to face with The Mad Midget. He used his shrinky-dink ray on her, but this merely brought her down to normal human size. (It did however shrink her Super Ball down to the size of a normal high bounce ball). Stripped of her powers, with none of her teammates in sight (she lost track of the 5th member of the team in all the commotion) Mikah was forced to flee. She barely managed to get away, and is now working in secret to try and uncover the whereabouts of the rest of her team, all the while dodging the Rogue Battalion (who seem to want her to get them off the hook for the disappearances) and Dickson Dover who will no doubt exact revenge on her for leaving his league if he discovers that she is no longer in possesion of her super powers. Whether the effects of the ray will ever expire she doesn't know, but right now its far more important that she find her friends again.

The Lark was a happy jokester whose career as a teen pop idol got sidetracked when his uncle gave him an armored suit. The suit not only protected him, but urned his voice into a sonic weapon. Beating up criminals was fun and exciting. Though between it and his career he didn't do a good job of performing matanance on his suit. After the battle with the rouge battalion he took off the suit to call and ask what happened to Cyberia. Between the lack of mataniance, and a blow to the throat, the suit malfunctioned on removal. Lark was rendered mute. No longer able to talk, joke, sing, and with his friends missing he sank into a state of depression which he is only now coming out of.

 

The Force Tank 6 members

 

The Marstis Think Tank had been considering how to sovle the worlds problems for decades. Sadly most goverments have rejected most of the think tan's recomendations. THis has led to a new school of thought. Superheros have the capacity to make sweeping changes. So if the think tank had a group to carry out their recommendations, they wouldn't need goverment approval. So Prof. Puzzle has gathered six heros and given them resources on the condition that they carry out the think tan'ks wishes. Within the law of course. Calling themselves the Force Tank they mostly operate on their own, but are occasionally are given directives by Prof. Puzzle. For the most part these directives have made positive changes. THough some have been odd. Asking about them results in a several hours long lecture by Prof. Puzzle that requires three phd's to understand. That is if you don't get distracted by his penchantts for storking his mustace and bursting into maniacal laughter.

Cerebella was the first member of the team to join, and is the defacto team leader. A member of the Think Tank herself Dr. Sarah Ann Bell helped to develop a method of amplifying brain waves enabling a normal person to access their innate psychic potential. Believing that if everyone in the world had psychic powers the world would be a better place she often tried to get other nations to use her technology to bring everyone together. However, while many were interested in utilizing her tech none of them had any inclination to share or make it available to the public. When Prof. Puzzle came up with the idea of using a group of Super Heroes to affect change in the world she immediately jumped on board to help with the cause. She built the device into a helmet and donned some high tech body armor designed by another Think Tank member and now uses her mental powers to serve Marstis Corp as Prof. P sees fit.

 

She functions as the team leader, usually scanning the minds of their targets to gather intel, then coming up with a plan which she passes on to the rest of the team.

Ted Mardel is a brilliant cyberneticist and former supervillain The Odious Man who had made multiple attempts to take over the city using his mechanical monsters, but he was always a little muddled whether he wanted wealth, power, or both. He felt he had the heroes dead to rights this time. While pondering his latest defeat, he decided that it was his long time battle with alcoholism that held him back, and he decided to join an alcoholic counseling. During his sessions, he came to realize that both his villainy and his alcoholism came from deep seeded abandonment issues and started the healing process that would eventually change his world view to one that desired to make up for the wrongs he has done, and as he dealt with demons, he would eventually become a model prisoner tutoring and counseling other inmates as he completed his sentence which was abruptly ended by the Great Atagarian Invasion. The Atagarian fleets and soldiers had the entire planet's military and heroic forces on the ropes. In desperation, the world recruiting fairly reliable supervillains to help in the defense and Ted Mardel was approached. Though reluctant to go back into action for fear of a relapse in his recovery, he decided that the world needed his help but refused to take up his former villainous ID as The Odious Man.

 

Using his knowledge of cybernetics and advanced engineering, he designed robots, cybernetic suits, vehicles and so forth to aid in the defense of Earth. With the combination of clear headedness and a clean purpose, his designs were more powerful and more dependable than ever before, and his reverse engineering of captured Atagarian technology proved decisive in bringing down the invading hordes.

 

Due to his efforts, it was decided that his sentence should be commuted. Free from both prison and the demons that put himself there had left him confused with what to do with his life. He was pondering his fate when he was approached by Prof. Puzzle to join a super team called Force Tank 6. He was intrigued at the idea of working on the right side of the law but wasn't sure how the public would take him. I decided to take accept the offer and with the resources he designed a new cyber suit and the some robot minions to defend the weak and helpless as The Robot Master.

Egress- Egress often doubles as the team vehicle when one of the high tech ones isn't an option. At will she can create portals that allow one to get from Point A to Point C without worrying about B at all. The greater the distance, the longer it takes to form the portal, but she can set up a pathway that will allow folks to cross to the next hemisphere with only a two minute preparation, an so she has become not just valuable to her team, but the many refugees she's helped get out of some catastrophe's way.

 

More than one government has claimed she over stepped her bounds in getting political malcontents out of autocracies, or helping refugees slip past border guards without proper paper work, but she leaves those complaints to Puzzle.

New Team: The Pageant

Theme: The Miss One World Beauty Pageant isn't as famous as other beauty pageants, but it does have its fans. It has over a dozen competitors from as many countries and a sizable scholarship fund among other prizes that they can compete for. This year, it was in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, this year's contest also had an attack from a mad man. During the walk through where many if not all ladies were on stage at once, it was gassed with a mutagen meant to transform them into hideous monstrosities.

Fortunately for the ladies, a scientifically minded superhero was nearby and tried to find a way to nullify the gas before it could truly deform them (though some might have odd skin tones, pointed ears, or the like now), but not before they mutated enough right on stage to gain superpowers! Now, a week later, some of the ladies are still not sure what to do with their new found powers. The press has treated them like a superteam and dubbed them the Pageant but the truth is, each one of them who has actually decided to become a superheroine maybe doing it for her own reasons.

Miss United Kingdom

 

Tracey Spencer finally thought her luck had changed when she got to go to the Miss One World pageant. Although she had the looks no-one wanted to here what she wanted to say or was interested in what she wanted to do. She was there as a matress at best. And she was not that smart so the scholarship would really help her. So she had a real sinking feeling when she was one of those gassed. At first she thought that nothog had happened until she found herself floating off the bed. Experimentation revealed that she had superpowers but at present she can only access one at a time. At first she did not know what to do until she caught the Tobey McGuire Spiderman movies and got the message 'With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility'. Besides she reasoned with her luck if she tried to become a villain she'd be busted in no time and she has seen enough of the losers back home who ended up in detention at Her Majesty's Pleasure. So she has teamed up with the others. 'All for one and one for all' and all that jazz.

Malaxima Abassian was overjoyed to attend the pageant as Miss Armenia, given all the hardships her family had suffered throughout the years -- dating all the way back from surviving the genocide of her people in Turkey. Then World War 2, then the Soviets, then border clashes with Azerbaijan. Each and every war took their pound of flesh and then some from Malaxima's heritage.

 

Then the gassing happened.

 

Already graceful, Malaxima's movements were now silently serpentine and swift. No scales, thankfully, but her eyes became coldly reptilian. And, much like certain vipers, she could "see" in infrared. To top it off, she could paralyze a human with a touch. She calls herself Gurza, after an endangered viper from her homeland. For now she hones her skills and powers with the rest of the Pageant, but after seeing so much war and suffering, Malaxima is sorely tempted to take stronger action herself one of these days.

 

 

She also knows her powers can cause death if she pushes it -- by drying up the very blood that runs in a target's veins. She hasn't shared that knowledge with the rest of the team and she is scared that they might find out.

Miss Taiwan is Sun Wang. She has been given a force that amplifies her physical powers by ten when she uses it. She has become known as the Fist of the Dragon.

Miss Ganesha

 

Miss India was from a poor part of the country which still followed the older parts of the Hindu religion. So when the gassing happened she completely paniced and transformed into the elephant god Ganesha despite the fact that Ganesha is male. She has not been able to return home as there are some who wish to worshp her as a living avatar of the God whereas others want to kill her to destroy faith in the religion. This has not done her self esteem much good and whenever she is frightened or upset she turns into an avatar of Ganesha. She can't talk in this form but she is immensely strong and very resiliant. Also big. The others are looking out for her and trying to boost her sense of self.

Miss Greenland was a close friend of one of the pageant's financial backers, which is how she got into the pageant in the first place. She was not at all well-liked by the other contestants (who figured she was sleeping her way into winning the pageant).

 

 

That isn't true -- she really is just a friend to that financial backer, who is actually gay. He got her into the pageant mainly hoping it would help boost her self-esteem.

 

 

When she was gassed, she gained the ability to generate intense cold and ice (either in sheets covering the ground, or in blocks around targets). She has a pretty sharp mind, so she frequently uses her powers in inventive ways (like causing ice buildup on costume eye coverings -- an NND Flash).

 

She isn't fond of the fact that her skin is now perpetually cold and has taken on a whitish-blue tint. That, combined with her now pure-white hair, makes her look vaguely like an albino. And she especially hates how she is frequently called "Miss Iceland" by people who have no concept of geography.
