New Team: Mustangs

This group of five heroes and heroines operate in the American Southwest, each from a different state but coming together when needed. Despite the fact that all of them (in some fashion) relate to horses, you'd best not mention My Little Pony in their presence. They take their crimefighting seriously, and none of them are bronies.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

The hero known as Rodeo is the latest in a long line of west Texas masked crimefighters dating back to the mid-1800s. (His great-grandpappy was the original Longhorn, one of the first costumed heroes in Texas.) In addition to being a phenomenal horseman, Rodeo is a great trick shot who often uses his matching pearl-handled Colt .45 revolvers to disarm opponents or otherwise disable their weapons. Whenever possible, he rides his well-trained stallion Spirit while fighting crime.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Her ancestors came from the Highlands of Scotland, but Connie MacRae is all-American, living in New Mexico. However, she has a touch of the Sidhe in her blood. Taking on the name Pooka, she is a shapeshifter and illusionist. The crimes she tends to fight deal with exploited and abused children and perpetrators of said crimes will find her to be a dangerous foe (though she has yet to cross the line into execution -- so far).

Connie actually likes MLP, thinking it a sweet cartoon for girls today, but absolutely DESPISES the worst aspects of Bronydom (ie sexist adult males who insist the show be catered to them instead of the actual target audience and twist it into public porn fetish).

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Despite what a few jingoists would desperately like to believe, the US isn't the only country working on supersoldiers. From France (which also sports the red, white & blue) comes Liberté, aka Emil LeGaunt. While his senses and reflexes have been enhanced, his main power is teleportation. He comes from a proud family, who served France well in the Resistance. Calling him a coward would be a very BAD idea.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

I dont know if this matters but the Justice Avengers is team 150 on this thread.

CES

Of course it matters !

Hmm ! Time for a twist. Originally from a different dimension comes Le Grand Breton. Clad in Red, White and Blue this armoured knight comes from a British Isles where the French language predominated. Stranded here he fights for truth, justice and liberty. Curiously he never removes his helmet in public or private leading some to think he is disfigured.

New Team: That 60s Team !. This is what the media are calling a group of heroes that have suddenly reappeared after being lost or thought dead since the 1960s. so they have 60s attitudes depending on what part of the decade they disappeared and how. ie Frozen, stepped through a timegate etc etc.

So pick minimum 5, max 10 heroes and tell us who they are and what happened to them (if they can remember). They could be a plant for an evil overlord etc.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Saying that Mary Jane Potter had a green thumb was like calling Martin Luther King Jr. a mere preacher. She loved plants all her life, but it wasn't until her late teens when she learned that her skill with nurturing all things flora was likely due to a mutant power. One day, she was watering an aspidistra by the garden wall, singing it a gentle song, when the plant suddenly started to GROW. We're not talking a little bloom -- it shot up like a rocket, 'till it nearly reached the sky.

The change didn't last long, and the plant soon returned to normal size. (The authorities later claimed the reports of the "biggest aspidistra in the world" were a mass hallucination.) At first, Mary Jane thought she had also hallucinated the incident (blaming it on some marijuana she had smoked an hour before), but eventually she realized that she had actually caused the out-of-control growth.

She hid her powers for a few years, but one day a group of thugs were threatening a young couple, and before she knew it, Mary Jane caused the grass under their feet to grow 6 feet tall, entangling the thugs and carrying the innocents to safety. Even that she thought an isolated incident, but a few months later she became galvanized by President Kennedy's call to "ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country." She considered joining the Peace Corps when it was formed a few months later, but decided instead to take Kennedy’s challenge literally and began wandering the US, trying to make it a better place.

A tall, gangly woman, she took the name Weed (she found it amusing on multiple levels) and worked for a while as a solo superheroine. Many ultra-conservatives decried her pro-drug stance and called her a “violent vigilante” despite her never having harmed anybody. Weed disappeared while battling the villainous mage Decimator (whose favorite spell caused instant aging of the target). He was casting his fast-aging spell and she tried to block it by wrapping herself in a protective sheath of quick-grown grass. When the grass fell away, Weed was nowhere to be seen. People thought she had somehow escaped into the earth and either gotten trapped there or popped out elsewhere and simply decided to quit the superheroine scene.

It wasn’t until Weed appeared in the same spot fifty years later that everybody learned both assumptions were wrong. (Scientists theorized that her quick-growth powers have a temporal element that interacted with Decimator’s spell, inadvertently sending her forward in time.) With all of her normal friends and family either elderly or dead, she looks at the other members of That 60s Team! (whom she had worked with on and off previously) as her only remaining friends.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Addam Munster came from an oddball family. Well, they didnt see themselves as wierd, it was everybody else that was wierd. Why did visitors always run in terror from their house, anyway? Doesnt everybody have an uncle with a completely flat head and bolts on their neck? Well, the fact that the family rich helped him get started in the superhero game. The fact that he can turn into a bat or wolf gave him his power. People being afraid of the family paid off after all, when it comes to stopping crime. Now, that he has awoke from his 40-year slumber, he is ready to fight more crime. What is so wierd about a 40 year nap?

Homage to The Addams Family and The Munsters

Fearing he would be drafted into the Vietnam war Theodre Packer fled to Canada. Having arrived he decided to see the nautral beauty of the country, and wander off into the remote regons. One day three spirits appeared to him, and asked why he intruded on their domain. He expalined he was fleeing the draft. THey asked him why he didn't want to fight with his people, and Packer replied.

"Because I want to make love not war. I just want there to be peace man"

For several minutes the spirits looked at him, and finally they spoke.

"Go forth from this place with the weapon to fuile your desire, but know this. You will only bring peace by seeking war."

So speaking the spirits vanashed leaving a very confused Packer. Later he was attacked by a bear. Cowering in fear Packer was sure he would die, but the bear's harshest blows were as soft as a rose petal touching him. At first he thought his skin had become highly resistant. Soon he discovered that actually he could project a null feild that negated force. It was then he realized wqhat the spirits had meant.

He could prevent people from hurting each other, but to do so he wou;d have to seek out conflict. So he returned to the U.S. and began by seeking out crimes. And wherever Peaceman walked violence ended.

This is good but what happened to him that he disappeared ?

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Some days you're outmatched and there's not much you can do about it.

It was 1964 and the Portland superhero known as Moonbeam had his hands full. He knew he could take on two of the DemonStrator's summoned demons, maybe three -- but six was just too much. Thanks to the demonic villain's decision to commit his crime at night, Moonbeam's powers were at their peak, but even that wasn’t enough. He had bought enough time for the bystanders to get to safety and had just taken the fourth demon down when the other two grabbed Moonbeam's arms and pulled him down to the cold concrete of the parking lot. Before the hero could react, DemonStrator had summoned ebon bonds to restrain Moonbeam's arms and legs.

As DemonStrator placed candles at five points around Moonbeam, lit them, and began to chant, the desperate hero looked around for something, anything to help him get free. All he saw was the full moon shining down from above. Suddenly, he recalled Luna's words to him when the moon goddess had first granted him his powers: "I will always be with you, Earth child." When he had told his fellow heroes they laughed at him, claiming it was all a hallucination brought on by the acid he'd dropped earlier that day. But Moonbeam knew in his heart it was real.

The chant was reaching a climax when Moonbeam closed his eyes tightly and wished with all his might that he could be with Luna. When he opened his eyes, he saw he was no longer in the parking lot, but was instead lying on grayish-white sand spotted with pumice-like rocks. His force field glowed white around him, but even through it he could see the stars above, brighter than he'd ever seen them before. That's when he noticed the Earth shining blue and green above him.

The moon, he thought in shock. I’m on the moon. That’s when he realized it wasn’t his force field glowing, but rather him. Somehow he had turned himself to pure moonlight and sent himself to the moon.

Time passed. He wandered the barren plains and craters, eventually finding Luna and living with her in her lunar castle. She taught him to use his light powers in new and interesting (and often frightening) ways. She showed him glimpses of him on an alternate world, actually working for that psychopath DemonStrator as a being called Lunatic. The thought sickened him, but Luna simply smiled and said, “Watch. And learn.”

After many years had passed, Luna told him, “It is nearly time for you to leave. Never forget me, nor this time you’ve spent with me. Remember, I will always be with you.” Suddenly he felt something pulling at him, dragging him up into the void and back toward Earth. He closed his eyes in fear, and when he opened them again, he was lying on a carpeted floor with a man in a black tuxedo and a woman in a shimmering gold gown standing over him.

“Did it work?” asked the woman. “Did you get the demon out of him?”

The man smiled. “I believe so, but let’s ask him. How do you feel, Lunatic?”

“I’m not Lunatic. I’m Moonbeam.” He sat up, and his memories of his time on the moon with Luna began to slowly fade like a vivid dream. “Listen, I may have smoked some weed and dropped some acid along the way, but I’m not crazy.” He looked around the dark-paneled room, then noticed the fallen form of DemonStrator. The evil mage’s hair had grayed and wrinkles creased his face, but he was the same evil villain Moonbeam had fought before. The hero surged to his feet and pointed both hands at the evil mage, preparing to blast him if he moved. “Watch out! That’s DemonStrator. He’s dangerous!”

“DemonStrator? Ah, yes, that’s the name he went by in the 60s and 70s. Lately, he’s been calling himself Demonicus.” The man patted Moonbeam on the arm. “He’s no longer a threat. I believe he had a heart attack during our battle. He’s gone now. And so is the demon he merged with you. It was tricky, but I managed to separate you. You can relax.”

Moonbeam didn’t actually turn himself to moonlight and spend the last 50 years on the moon. When DemonStrator summoned a demonic entity to possess Moonbeam’s body, the hero’s mind retreated into a fantasy of living on the moon until the mage Doc Oddity and his assistant Esmerelda forced the demon to leave Moonbeam. He still insists it was all real, along with Luna granting him his powers. (Yes, that was a hallucination as well.) As proof, he points out that even though it’s now 2013, he is still as young as he was in 1964. The truth is, the demon kept his body from aging because it wanted to stay in a strong, vital body.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Sabrina Rogers became known as the heroine Major Djinn. Her reality warping powers turned many battles for her until she was called to the City of Brass. She was imprisoned for a short time as far as she was concerned, but when she escaped, she returned to a world that was forty years older.

Oh sorry forgot the disappeared part.

Peaceman part 2

After several years of superheroing, he felt a strange urge to return to Canada. And wasnt head from again. With a torn and dirty costume he walked into the New York Times office and asked the woman at the desk what waws going on in the world. When asked where he's been, and why he hasn;'t aged he just says.

"Don't worry about it. Were all safe for another thousand years or so."
