  2. Re: Looking for some info Check the video link for "The Ship That Flips".
  3. Re: BOECV entangle question Well, if it's BOECV, then the character trying to breakout would make a roll with 1d6/5 EGO. You basically substitute EGO for STR in this case, and use the same mechanics for how many BODY that is done to the Entangle.
  4. Re: [Challenge] The Ultimate Champions Universe A link would have been appreciated.
  5. Re: Why is Strength so underpriced? For Tornado: I did a seach myself for those threads. There are 2 that I found which go on and on about the subject, so these are probably the main ones that people are refering too. You can find them here and here. Enjoy! (And whatever you do, don't post to those threads! You'd just get the whole thing started again! )
  6. Re: Turakian: Indusharan and women - typo / errata? It could just be that the woman that took control of the Kingdom is a singularly exceptional woman, like Hatshepsut. I beleive that the ancient Egyptians would probably be concidered sexist by us, but she managed to hold the throne the Kingdom for quite a while, and it prospered under her reign. But it never hurts to ask if a mistake might not have been made.
  7. Re: Human Sacrifice powered END Reserve question Another way this could have been done is to buy an END Battery with a REC that is equal to the Total END in the battery. You can put a limitation on the REC as to how much REC you get with what kind of sacrifice (the maximum being a vrigin, of course.) As for point cost, it should be a problem. Only a villain would get this, right? Right?
  8. Re: Human Sacrifice powered END Reserve question Better would be to have a END Reserve with 0 REC, and then Tranfer BODY to REC, else the END will just fade away eventually.
  9. Re: Halo Hero In the Digital Hero E-zine issue #10, there is an article about Force Field optional modifiers. You don't even have to get DH to read it though, since it is one of the free samples found here. Look up the "Regenerating Shield" limitation. I think it is pretty close to what you want. Hope this helps!
  10. Re: Aid...still broken? Zed-F: If you wanted to have people go "Noooo!" and "Not again!" you should have brought up this thread and this follow-up thread. I'll shut up now.
  11. Re: Super Hearing I would say that you only need Discriminatory. That should allow you to tell the difference between a human and a gorilla. Analyze would allow you to tell the difference between Gordd and another gorilla in the zoo.
  12. Re: New JLU Tonight You don't need a dish. Cable is just fine, if you have YTV. I've watched every JLU episode. It's just that we get it up to 6 months after the States.
  13. Re: Shielding a Base Actually, a while back, there was a discussion on how someone could make themselves invisible to IR-Detects. Problem is IR can be more than just vision, so how could this be done? Someone posed the question to Steve, and this was his reply. So, the option is there, if the GM permits.
  14. Re: Shielding a Base Can't you buy Darkness or Invisiblity to a specific special sense? You could buy Darkness to N-Ray vision, and that would apply to all forms of N-Ray vision? There would also be Spatial Awarnes to worry about, of course. What do you guys think?
  15. Re: Need some help: Korean heroine Check out the Korean section of Encyclopedia Mythica. The Kumiho is listed on the left.
  16. Re: Poisons and Diseases No, you aren't the only one that thinks there may be a better way of doing poisons and diseases in HERO. I'm sure some of the HERO gurus wuill be along later to give their opinions and suggest some good alternatives. I think that the HERO system might use this method as a default because often a GM might not even want to stat-out a disease and/or poison, but just say that "it does so much damage per (time factor) to (whatever statistiques), until such and such happens", and a player can just say "but I' immune", without using such an esoteric Defense power. I myself ran into this problem when I was tinkering with converting Shadowrun to HERO. Dwarves in that setting have bonuses to stats to resist poisons and diseases, and Trolls have such good physical stats as to be very hard to affect them with same. Now SR, being a cyberpunk setting, only with magic, is pretty gritty, and I didn't want to simply say that these two races were immune to poisons and diseases. So I came to a similar conclusion that, at least for a more gritty feel, that LS(poison and disease immunity) was a little too cheap for what it did. And that is something you have to think about: for the superhero-genre, I actually think that it is reasonable to us the Life Support method. It that genre, you can make "dieseases" and "poisons" that aren't affected by the appropriate LSs, for the simple fact that the characters that developped it are supers, and there toxins and sicknesses go beyond the normal parameters of the LSs. Thoses should be built with Drains and the like so that Power Defense becomes the appropriate counter. Heck, in other genres you could still have both ideas. the LSs apply to most diseases and poisons, but a few aren't stopped by that and you would need Power Defense (maybe with "only vs poisons and diseases"; -½). You just have to regulate the base damage, because if those Drains only do 1d6, suddenly 6 Power Defense can make you virtually immune to nearly anything out there. In the end the cost could be comparable to LS. In the end, the apprpriateness of the Life Support method will depend on genre, how the GM builds diseases and piosons for HIS campaign, and suspension of disbelief.
  17. Re: Bio-Booster Armor Guyver for Champions Well, in the current system it actually can work similar to this, since you can link a power from outside a multipower to a specific slot. So if you wanted a 150 point power in a 100 point MP, you can link a 50 point power that adds to that slot. I.E.: Booster MP (100 point pool) -10 Mega-smasher: 20d6 EB oustide pool: +10d6 EB (Linked to Mega-smasher) At least, I think that is legal.
  18. Re: Villain Summary Charts/Tables In Books Well, I have used the one in CKC, but I wouldn't say I used it frequently. But I know if you discontinue them that I will miss them.
  19. Re: Will the revised CU book have updated Champions? I'll second that! I just wish it was coming out now.
  20. Re: Who's the most powerful "official" superhero team? India's Superhero Division will proably be up there, after Champions World Wide comes out. Rashindar alone comes out at over 950 points! And Ushas is supposed to be pretty powerful too.
  21. Re: Who's the most powerful "official" superhero team? From CU, 2 very powerful teams, based in New York, would be the Sentinels and the Justice Squadron. They have the most "history" in CU, and have faced most of the greatest supervillains. The New Knights of the Round Table probably are up there too. Of course, none of these teams have current official write-ups, so it is hard to tell. For currently written-up hero teams that is in the Champions 3K, I guess that might be Unity, from the current UNTIL book.
  22. Re: Help converting a couple of GURPS abilities to Hero I was thinking PSL for this myself, but don't you have to specify what penalty is is supposed to offset, anyway? (e.g.: Targeting Skill Levels, Range Skill Levels, Time Skill Levels, etc.) If so, there shouldn't be a limitation.
  23. Re: THE ULTIMATE METAMORPH -- What Do *You* Want To See? What about a guinea Pig? Sky High has such a metamorph.
  24. Re: Favorite Super-Mercenary I personally like Steel Commando. He gave my players a good pounding before being chased off...
  25. Re: Continous Area Effect Entangle Remember also that if a trapped person doesn't break out, that they get attacked again, and the entangle that they are stuck in gets to roll the Body. If the Body roll doesn't exceed the amount of his entangle, it still gets tougher by +1 Body, until you hit the max (4 Body in this case). Destroying all the plant life in the area?
