  1. Re: Where does it show the price list for Hero system equipment guide. Depends if the chickens are regular or giant-mutant chickens. Then maybe one cow and five chickens.
  2. Re: Your "2012" Pet Gaming Projects Well after psoting awhile and looking back on the Subterfuge of the Shadow Clan, I realized that I need to really review the 5thed rules that I using because I don't the rules as well as I thought I knew! (confusing some of 4th with fifth).
  3. Re: Newbie running a game for Newbies Here is something I did last year for a game. Since I was using a optional build (GM allowed) I put the name of the book and page number to reference it, if the GM had a question about it during game play. (It saves the page flipping).
  4. Re: Why I prefer HERO System over Pathfinder/OGL/D&D for fantasy I just wanted to add that I was messing around at Rpgarchive.com at under the Champions filter ther is a Westren Shores Campaign by Peter Cobcroft. He went and added alot of details to the game, such as names for money by each race. He has religion for each race. He even had a chart suggestioning which skills are common and uncommon. Its a good read if you have the time. (Of course this is written for 4thed rules.)
  5. Re: Charlton Action Heroes Well the way the rights are betweeen comics and tv I not sure, but Ted Kord had a presence in Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon series.
  6. Re: Villain Group Didn't the Sandman (of Spiderman fame) was also a convicted prisoner who escaped and gained superpowers? Or how about a strange meteor crashed through the prison and gave the villians super powers AND also gave a guard powers too. Now they have a super hunted LOCKDOWN!
  7. Re: Club Weapon at range? Well if its Victorian, it could be custom rubber bullets, or rock salt, or some sort of cork? Depending of course how realistic you'd like it to be.
  8. Re: Newbie running a game for Newbies Like I said, I think it would be better to run a game (for awhile) with the core rules to get a handle(both you and your players). And expand as needed. Another point of advice, what ever style of game you are playing, make sure everyone is on the same page. (I've said this before) My first character was a ninja. my friend's group plays Silver age style. I ran the Ninja as a classic '80s Ninja. I used killing attacks, and threw a villian off a building to kill him. We laugh at it now, but you can see how if everyone has different expectations in the game, then it can be diastrous. (Note, I'm not saying what style to play, just a consensus.)
  9. Re: Villian Group Also there is Project Sunburst from Classic Enemies (before each of these villians had a common background but not put together.) This group was the test subject of the U.S Army Nuclear survival program. The suits failed, and each had a different reaction to accident/mutation in their genes. Ray, for example became a horrible monster, while Armidillo was "normal" but his mutation allowed him to use a power suit that no one else could use. (For a side note Armidillo is not in the book, as he came with the original BBB.) And they have a fake front the Great Northwest Shipping Company (U.S.)
  10. Re: Club Weapon at range? Is this for a Heroic level or Super? I ask because at heroic, you can put range on HA, but not in supers. And I think the tittle throws me off alittle, do you mean (which I think you are) to do the same damage as a killing attack but using normal dice and looking at the "club" rules? Or, are you just throwing a club at range? tHe problem of course is that there is no easy way to make an attack switch as such. I guess if I would do a custom talent figure out a multipower with the largest attack you want. Make one slot utra killing and make the other slot ultra energy blast, then use point for slot two for your talent?
  11. Re: Second Best Game System ? I bet if you made money people would have told you who had the rights
  12. Re: Second Best Game System ? I hould have clairified. The Hero unlimited wasn't too bad. And I sometimes use it to get the mind rolling. It was filling out a ninja character in NaS that gave me the most problem.
  13. Re: Pirate Hero They just had a Hagar the Horrible strip where Hager looses his loot to Pirates. The punchline was something like while Vikings are great at plundering castles, pirate rule plundering at sea.
  14. Re: Fictional cities I do the same as it seems a majority of posters stated. I use a real city and change the name (and anything else that fits.) My two cities are River City (Harrisburg, PA) and Iroquois City (Erie, PA).
  15. Re: All ghosts evil? Very possibly true. At some point (to me) you just have to have faith in the experts. Just as the experts claim Pluto is (or was) a planet.
  16. Re: Custom Martial Art Skills Yeah I like that idea. This was in addition to it.
  17. Re: Second Best Game System ? I have a copy of Heores Unlimited and NInja and Superspies. Now for background material and powers and such I found it great. But trying to make a character, especially NaS, I found hard. I guess its a ymmv thing.
  18. Re: Charlton Action Heroes There is a Judomaster on The Netbook of Superheroes, but it says that the comic is D.C.
  19. Re: Custom Martial Art Skills Sterica with the perk upstream, I was thinking about expanding it as a function for buying martial manuevers. Of course this would be only useful in a game where the style lists are enforced. 1pt. Blackbelt - Buy any additional manuever from your style. 2pt. Master - Buy one additional manuever from outside your style. 3pt. Grandmaster - Modify a manuever, create a new (mechanically) manuever. 4 pt. Founder-Completely create a new system Also each level might affect how many csls (and what point cost) and weapon fam and elements too.
  20. Re: Custom Martial Art Skills And to add on to Bigbywolfe, then just make a house rule that this particular Disarm (Charlie Wax) expels one round for the pistol, but who evers takes a half phase can reload the pistol. I don't see that as a problem.
  21. Re: Second Best Game System ? Well, I was interested in D6 Powers to see how it went. But alas, no experience with the game itself but since its derived from the D6 system, it looked-interesting.
  22. Re: Newbie running a game for Newbies No, your not cheaping it to use pre-generated stuff before you get the hang of it. One advantage of using pre-ge (besides time saving) is in theory each power is balanced if you use it at the suggested level, without you have to do the analasis beforehand. Now one thing that you can do, is work with each player and allow them to take a pre-gen charcter and perhaps do alittle cut and paste and swaping. Perhaps instead of the martial artist using tradional weapons, his weapons are ice-generated (sorta like Sub-Zero, my step-son had a Halloween costume years ago calles Ice Wolf, his staff was "ice"). Of course once someone wants to change something on a character or create a new character allow him, don't wait for the experience points. I see nothing wrong with a couple of games to get the feel of it, get players input then tweak to suit. Good luck
  23. Re: Custom Martial Art Skills Well Ragitsu is you go by Disarm, then its a random roll to see where the gun goes, and it becomes a wild card. If you define it as a takeaway, then the character has control of the gun, which means he can use it or dispose of it. (Also to lower the point cost, figure out the dispel based on charges, cause really he is just disabling one charge (bullet).)
  24. Re: Paranoia Well it is the end of the world. At least says the Mayans.
