  1. Re: Video Game Martial Arts (Coments Welcomed) Are theses going to be manuevers that each fighter can use. Or is it a list of manuevers which a fighter can choose his style from? Either way, in my experience, it helps to limit the manuever list so you as a GM know what is being used. Postion shift-why are you making them spend points on a dodge which they can do for free? It is a everyman manuever. Am I missing something?
  2. Re: Monstrous Character Well a hideous monster might get attacked on sight. A group (or individual) might look to exterminate such a creature-no questions asked. Another group might capture the creature for study/dissection.
  3. Re: Support HERO Indirectly... I've been saying this with the free Hero system genre by genre pdf Build on them, the only problem is that it is in 5th, and if we're supposed to do 6th, a minor hiccup.
  4. Re: Your "2012" Pet Gaming Projects New project I have is working on 6th basic. I finally bought the book (waiting in the mail) and see what I can create just using the basic rules.
  5. Re: What Can We Do To Serve HERO? Well for my birthday (which is today), I ordered 6th basic so I can put my money where my mouth is. I'm going to see in my spare time what I can create specifically for use with Basic. Alas though, when I went ot my flgs, the guy told me that he packed up all the Hero stuff, and is going to try to sell it online. It wasn't moving and it took up too much space. (He even wasn't going to pull out anything for me to buy right then and there). I told him I understood.
  6. Re: Catch Me If You Can: A Champions Adventure Already gave teh bunny rep.
  7. Re: Very flashy, acrobatic martial arts styles? The impression I got from watching the Stunt Star was that he helped popularize Parkour. Now mind you, it was late, (I was tired) and of course there was a the translation factor going on. So I could be wrong. Still if you guys get a chance, the movie wasn't bad and watching the stunt star bonus was fascinating.
  8. Re: Very flashy, acrobatic martial arts styles? Fwiw, I watched Tekken (the movie). And they had a bonus video called Stunt Stars. It focused on Cyril Rafaeff, who according to the show, was instrumental in developing Parkour, and was the fight choregrapher for Tekken, District B13, and several Transporter movies.
  9. Re: Catch Me If You Can: A Champions Adventure Thank you Bunny! I'll keep this on hand to run. Don't know when, but hopefully soon.
  10. Re: Artifact: The Coin Of Shifting Fortunes (5th Ed) Shouldn't the side effect be worth more too? It's value is the same as the power (3d6). Cool idea though
  11. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? I'm re-reading the Gods of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs
  12. Re: Sci-Fi Melee Weapons: Bat'leth, Lirpas, Lightsabres, Rykk Blades, Koltari, Denn'B Ah-Ghurkas in space! : )
  13. Re: Your "2012" Pet Gaming Projects Update: I have the outline flushed out for the scenerio of the Evil of Dr. Detstroyer. I've made a list of some of the powers/advatages that caught me off guard with the subterfuge of the shadow clan. Oh, and I'm using Dr. Destroyer! (a modified version to be sure).
  14. Re: PMCs--Private(and Public) Metahuman Contractors I believe there was an episode in the X-men 90's where they introduced Collosus doing demolition work. And the workers were mad become the contractor fired all the other workers.
  15. Re: Star Fleet Battles Starships I thought I heard that the Federation's saucer was to be reminiscent of UFO flying Saucers.
  16. Re: PMCs--Private(and Public) Metahuman Contractors In Normals Unbound, there is a Stronghold bondsman who has some supers to collect the bounty. The character is written up, but the metas powers and levels are only hinted at.
  17. Re: Why I prefer HERO System over Pathfinder/OGL/D&D for fantasy I understand your point. as to introducing your kids to Hero, I have had a different experience. With my daughter who's 9, she didn't find it overwhelming. But that's because of two things, one since its just her and me, its more one on one. (I can imagine having two to teach at the same time is harder ) And two, (and most importantly, to me) while I gave her character options, they where limited. I have no idea why it seems taboo in this community (though not expressed by all) to dare to put limits on characters, when it teaching new people, regardless of age. Now I understand that if the player gets it, then by all means allow them more options. If it was a different game, would there be such an expectation to know all the rules first? I don't think so.
  18. Re: Marvel Super Friends Also when I think about Firestar and why she was created, I think She-Hulk might be a good fit. I read where Friestar was created because the cartoon didn't have the rights to the Torch. And She-Hulk would be as strong as Wonder-woman. , Videoman never became an official character.
  19. Re: Sci-Fi Melee Weapons: Bat'leth, Lirpas, Lightsabres, Rykk Blades, Koltari, Denn'B Fwiw-apparently, the use of Force points and character points is a second ed thing not first ed. I couldn't find any for Han in 1st but for 2nd, he has 2 force points and 22 character points. And I love the idea as a player. I've used some hero points in a game, and it does make it more cinematic in my opion.
  20. Re: Team as characters Lucius that was what I was implying! Nice job.
  21. Re: Sci-Fi Melee Weapons: Bat'leth, Lirpas, Lightsabres, Rykk Blades, Koltari, Denn'B Np-btw I like the way that WEG hard coded it in the rules. Every character had access to Force points and character points. Force points double the skill dice per turn, and character points can add to your dice pool, sorta like hero points. This helped characters to make outrageous stunts because that's what heros do in cinema. Oh and Han in WEG still had awesome stats even without relying on the above advantages.
  22. Re: Ifrit Perhaps he was cursed to be an Ifrit? He wanted to be the most powerful being in the universe? A.k.a Alladin. Maybe he was forced to be a Hero to lift the curse? He could start out as a jerk, but start to be truly a hero.
  23. Re: Marvel Super Friends Well considering how popular Firestar was from Spidey and friends, I'd add her for the girl slot.
  24. Re: Magical Created Supersolider To emulate the comics, especially Golden, Silver and (I believe) even Bronze, you "should' be good and heroic. If anything, its a default mindset of the genre. With great powers come great responsibilities, and all that. Also by nature, if you have too many evil characters in a group, the group will disolve rather quicklly. The question is why do you want to play an evil character? And how evil? I will say that several years ago, I played to villians on City of Heros line, and it was a blast to do. Breaking into a bank vault and breaking out of prison was a hoot, and because (for me) it was a break from playing a hero. Now would I want to do it all the time? No. Or perhaps, another question, is what do you see as being Heroic? Remeber in hero system, you define the character traits, and personality. Do you see all heroic characters as fuddy duddies? All boyscout and no fun? I.e. Superman? Or do you want someone edgier like Wolverine? Also, do you know what your group expects? If you are playing in a Silver Age, no killing is almost required in every character, while in a Iron age, it would be highly unusual, perhaps even discourged! Btw, there's no rule that you couldn't build the same character concept with two or more concepts in mind. Best example is Batman, look how varied he is depending on the "age".
