  1. Re: Help with Golden Age scenario Surprised that Atlantis didn't make it yet! Or Lemura in this neck of the woods. Being Golden Age, perhaps what the macguffin is a super energy source or weapon. Or perhaps it is the key to find Atlantis. But instead of mystical, work up the super science angle of Atlantis.
  2. Re: The Basic Enimies Chalange! Christopher I did mean Hand attacks here is the link http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/88746-Hand-attacks-Strength-and-advantages.
  3. Re: Horror Hero Only problem with Red shirts is that people might go "well its a red shirt, that won't happen to my pc". Now a friend of mine was talking and we never got to do this, but this should fix this. He was going to have a red shirt character, which I was going to kill off. (And then he gets to use his real character) The con, as it is, is that the rest of the group shouldn't know what happened. The group should now have real fear that since a pc already lost a character, there could be a real death in the game.
  4. Re: Beware of late night commercials..... Speaking of illegal though whatabout illegal manuevers? As in rules wise you can buy say eye gouge, but in a tournament, if used, it would be considered illegal.
  5. Re: The Basic Enimies Chalange! Steriaca quick question with your challenge. I got an official ruling dealing with Hand Attacks with advantages. But since the ruling is on the hero board vs the books (fwi the ruling is specific for HSBR) would you accept the build or no? And really its not a biggie either way, I can do what I want with a different build. P.S. This challenge outta kick my but into finishing some villians I was going to build for HSBR anyways.
  6. Re: Can be used as... Lucius I might be missing something, but why not just buy the Stab'em with 1D6 RKA Trigger (must hold victim) o phase 1/2 phase to reset (+1/4) unified (-1/4) act 19 real 15 points. (Of course you can increase damage as needed). THe way I think it should work, is that you use the TK to grab, and then next phase stab'em. I don't see the TK going away and you still have your killing attack. In other words, I don't see with my buld why you would need all the other adavantages to make the power act as "TK".
  7. Re: My 100 pt CIA field agent Btw Planet arranger is this guy for a Champions game (super) or heroic? Because even agents should pay for their equipment in points if its a supers game. (Of course, as the GM, you can just throw that out the window if you want)
  8. Re: My 100 pt CIA field agent No you can't cause as Pattern Ghost said, it covers to different types of attacks. Hand to hand vs range, but the 8pt will allow it.
  9. Re: My 100 pt CIA field agent I would drop the offensive strike and the dodge, and buy fast strike and killing strike and throw. With the extra points, you can buy extra DC for martial arts and perhaps a weapon element (and weapon fam if needed)
  10. Re: Boot Blade? I was thinking the samething!
  11. Re: Boot Blade? A generous GM might give you an OCV bonus the first phase (suggested between +1 -- +3 OCV). Of course, if you want guarrented results, you should pay for it. I.e +3 CSL (OCV) only for surprised attack
  12. Re: Horror Hero And did you forget the ever popular "we survived physically but not so mentally?". Perhaps a hero goes loses his mind for saving the world. Yamamura, I think you should still have some sort of Pre attacks even in survival horror because you don't want people to just go Rambo on the monsters. Perhaps overtime they by PRE only vs "horror" to show that they are becoming immune to it. (Of course if the players are good roleplayers, then this mechanical approach may not be needed)
  13. Re: Boot Blade? A tied on boot? Man there are times that I takes me a whole turn to get my kids shoes off! Seriously, it could depend on the shoe but I can see the iif, though of course ymmv. (By now that should be a unspoken given at this point)
  14. Re: Can be used as... Two options 1) Buy the advantage avld (def resistance) on the TK and special effect is "killing attack" 2) Or just buy trigger on HKA
  15. Re: Weird Adventures -- A Different Kind of Pulp Setting
  16. Re: Power Word Ni! Well if there is no harm, have you considered an entangle that does no body and is susceptible to to an ego roll?
  17. Re: Magic pistols I agree, but my question Christopher is (and I could very well missed it) is where the OP implied he wanted something that required the variable special effect. He said he wanted the bullets to shoot both fire and ice bullets (with the same mechanical effect then yes of course.) Or do you think that because they are magic ice bullets they require the vsfx?
  18. Re: Metal Skin Actually this concept probally comes up more than first thought. If the skin is hard enough to stop needles, then there is a small set of power concepts that would either negate or induce a the defense of an NND. Also for the complication point of view, this would act as a negative modifier to Paramedic rolls and related medical rolls. I'm thinking of the scene from Justice league unlimited (iirc) where they meet Aquaman (he has a hook for a hand) for the first time and when the doctors try to help him, the needle just bends. So I would go with the 5 pt limitation.
  19. Re: Magic pistols Well apparently I added confusion, which I wasn't going for. (Failed roll) If anything, I just wanted to point out to the OP that he needs to decide upfront how the power works, and what the (if any) minor limitations or advantages might apply before the game runs and there is confusion between player and GM. And the only correct version of magic would be what the GM and player decides.
  20. Re: MMA-styled martial arts locks and grappling Fwiw, I plugged in vsfx for martial grab at 20 str and got 5 real points and 1 end as a result.
  21. Re: MMA-styled martial arts locks and grappling Oh and Bloodstone when they gave the warning about converting real world style and redundant manuevers? I was the poster boy for that warning. And I do agree with probally letting it slide instead of buying vsfx. Or how about maybe a 1 pt weapon element legs? It would have the advantage of clearly defining the manuever with a very minimal cost.
  22. Re: MMA-styled martial arts locks and grappling Yeah, I not the typical out all but that's why I said for clairty. (And since he said MMA for most that probally is enough, but the first thing that cam to my mind is a standing leg lock from Tai Chi, not what he is probally after, oh well.)
  23. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Been watching The River. Not bad. The Walking Dead, also good. And Revenge.
  24. Re: MMA-styled martial arts locks and grappling Well, I was thinking with the Ultimate Martial Artist, you could buy power advantages for your manuever. I would buy variable special effect (+1/4) to represent leglocks or armlocks. Oh and to be clear, I'm assuming leg lock, your using your legs instead of hands and targeting the legs, but you could use your hands to attack legs. so alittle description would be useful.
  25. Re: MMA-styled martial arts locks and grappling Also, what rules are you using, and how complex/detailed do you want to go?
