  1. Since I have been playing this 'avatar' for nearly 22 years . . . Ghost Archer
  2. Re: Help with a Power As with all senses the range is only limited by range mods and your dice roll so it is possible with a good roll to perceive your target far past this 'at least 20"' you have assigned. If I where your GM I would not allow the Megascale but would rather have you use "Telescopic" to reduce your range mods. This also solves the 'close range' limit of Megascale. By the way, you can pick out ALL animals within 500m with your Mk 1 Mod 1 eyeball? Impressive....
  3. Re: Re: Looking for Gambit Mathew and I have different points of view when it comes to converting X-Men. He maintained the 250 point limit and did a great job, but I wanted my versions to be more . . . complete. If you'd like, take a look at a more rounded Gambit For other X-Men visit The Wild Hunt's Uncanny X-Men
  4. I voted I voted, both kids voted, my brother voted, even my wife voted! We can do it! Gonna go recruit the brother in law and father in law next.
  5. Just do what a lot of us here do . . . buy everything HERO puts out. Even if you aren't running a particular genre, the books have great ideas and examples that can be incorporated into whatever campaign you DO run. I am waiting for noon to roll around so I can call my FLGS to see if they have MC yet, even though I'll never use the setting. Okay, so I will probably never buy Hero Designer, sorry Steve.
  6. If I read it over, you want me to correct it while I am at it? ghost_archer@yahoo.com
  7. Character background, campaign background, campaign setting?
  8. We've always called them a Half brick or Cinderblock.
  9. Oh, yeah, the Leader is the major sticking point in my campaigns too. even when I have a vict . . . er . . . volunteer nobody listens to them. When I play, I always end up being the leader by default, even, as misterdeath says, when the character isn't a leader type. The other type I have trouble with is the detective when I GM. Most of my players have no idea what detective work is and couldn't deduce it was raining if they were soaking wet so I tend to shy away from deep investigations. Again, when I play, I am the detective, but since two of my main characters ARE detectives, it works but then my Co-GM has to work hard to keep the detective in me happy.
  10. I'm sorry but isn't this a case of creating a Power that duplicates an existing one? Okay, so it's a Power that duplicates a Skill in this instance. I am curious why you need such a 'fool proof' form of Criminology? It's a neat idea but maybe all you need to do is watch CSI a few times. Criminology is already Based On Available Physical Evidence and can even give clues many years after the crime. As a GM, I wouldn't allow this Power because it already exists in Criminology. We all know Retrocognition is one of those Powers that can destroy a story line. I create mysteries for my team, I leave clues, I leave physical evidence, I don't want to have surrender information to the team because they are too lazy to think. I will gladly answer any questions they ask and don't expect them to be Forensic Scientists or pathologists. All I need it an inkling they are on the right track. If they aren't, time for a little Skill roll and some hints but I much prefer to roleplay it without dice.
  11. I think it's a matter of availability. 5th Edition is everywhere and the BBB is still easy enough to fine, but going back to 3rd...might be a little harder. Also, you do understand that just because it's in FREd, doesn't mean you have to use it. If you are looking for a simple version of Champions I don't think it's necessary to drop back a few versions, just limit characters to a few basic powers. Sorta like the Legion of Superheroes. Each has their own specialty. You don't need to allow ECs or MPs or, god forbid, VPPs. Let the characters have an attack power, keep it basic, no AVLDs or NNDs or Penetrating/Increased Stun/AP/Autofire Ego attacks. Let them have a defense, Force Field or Armor or Damage Resistance then add some movement power. Pretty basic and probably 200 points or so. If you are just looking for combat, forget about the skills. If you don't want to have to come up with Disadvantages, just give base points to cover the costs. Honestly, I'd go with FREd because it is so complete and I actually have the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Editions of Champions/HERO. Just because it's older doesn't make it simpler.
  12. I think a campaign website is something every GM should try, I've been working mine for about four and a half years. You'll be amazed how it grows as you find new things to add. Good luck with your own site, I'll look forward to visiting and reading about your adventures.
  13. Re: How would you define Mental Paralysis? Entangle takes no damage from attacks. I've always gone with the Entangle option.
  14. Okay, must be too damned early in the morning but I can't even begin to wrap my brain around THAT one. What the hell is an Entangle NND?
  15. Hey, Red Eagle, glad to see you are still alive and GMing. Raven says "Hi". Have you upgraded Red Eagle to 5th yet? If so, would you like me to update him on The Seattle Hunt pages?
  16. We can handle that, Acroyear. You want the whole East Bay and San Jose?
  17. I'd like to see a data base of Player campaigns and thought this might be a way to start one up. Where is your campaign based? The Wild Hunt operates out of San Francisco with a secondary team in Seattle.
  18. Thank the great god, Steve!
  19. Are you an OLD, Old Fart if you match all three and are nearly fifty?
  20. In all the years I've played and all the characters I have built, I have never once considered altering the cost of any characteristic. I have never considered one 'more cost efficient' then any other. I am beginning to think there's something wrong with my perception.
  21. My own primary character, Ghost Archer, has over a thousand of pages of stories already on paper, including the better part of a full length novel. How can you reduce that to anything I could write here? Even his parents have hundreds of pages of information already written. Why would I love to see him published? Because he is a living developing being, all be it imaginary, with a rich history. He is not perfect but he believes in what he does and tries to make the world a better place for everyone. He is cold and heartless but also a warm and loving father and true friend. He has seen and done much but still has so much to look forward to and so much left to see. He doesn't count the number of enemies he's fought but the number of friends he's made. He doesn't remember all the battles but rather he remembers the yesterday's sunrise. I'd like to see him published because he is a labor of love and imagination and a tribute to all the other players that he's interacted with. Through him they are not forgotten.
  22. ...if you can't make more then a half phase move without going in to orbit.
  23. I wonder is Tech has Mentella as a house guest. If you do, Tech, better send her my way to make me buy Hero Designer but I'll have to warn her I have a lot of Mental Defense, IIF MetaCreator.
  24. Funny, I recently finished updating the Protectors to 5th Edition.
  25. Gotta admit I've bought all of them, except the new Ninja Hero and only because my FLGS doesn't have it yet. UMA, love it but about the same as 4th. Bestiary, vast improvement over 4th. Ninja Hero, no comment. But I do have comments of a few other things. Champions Universe 5th, hated it, but probably because I was so used to the 4th version and they changed so damn much. Champions, hated it, too basic for someone running a 21 year long campaign. Again, I HAVE been playing 21 years but for a new player or GM, the book is fabulous, especially the Quick Superhuman Generator. Star Hero, loved it but I am comparing it to the ancient Star Hero from like 1984. Of course, if I ever run a sci fi campaign I may love it more. Now, CKC. This, I believe, is the best thing Hero has done in a very long time. The characters have gone from cardboard cut outs to full figured villains, something I have always had to do with every Hero published character I have used. Although the extra 100 points in base and the reduction in disads helps. It allows everyone to round out a character without having to surrender powers.
