  1. Re: Good toys for use with Champions... Nearly every wall in our game is represented by a Jenga Block. Every Giant Robot in our game is built from Legos. I use the wheel blocks to make movable legs. Need lots of Humanoid Monsters? M.U.S.C.L.E. men!
  2. Re: DEX SPD CV Advise I have a house rule for Heroic campaigns that no one may spend more than 10 pts on SPD during character creation. This ensures that only the guy with the 20 DEX can have a 4 SPD, everyone else has a 3. I find that combat goes much quicker if everyone has the same SPD. Lightning Reflexes, and Hip Shot and Hurry play more of a role in combat order in such a game. I tend to have CV's between 5 and 7, DEX between 12-20, and DC's from 3-7. Resistant Defenses stay in the single digits, so a 2d6+1 HKA can do some damage to the hardiest opponent.
  3. Re: Mental Powers: Classes of Mind Question Within the rules, I would classify "Plants" as a Limited Class of Alien minds, seeing as any plant with a mind is alien to this world.
  4. Re: Why are there never any Fantasy Hero games at the Cons? HAC, or III, or whatever they call themselves now, used to run a great recurring Fantasy Hero game at GenCon. The characters belonged to a circus, if I recall...
  5. Re: Favorite Abuses My favorite abuse is the NND with the defense being a lack of a defense... for example: Flash Defense Override: NND Flash, Defense is no Flash Defense Neutron Gun: NND EB, Defense is no Resistant Defense
  6. Re: WWYCD #95: Leaden Curtain Golden Eagle has an anti-hostage/Mind Control protocol set up which would kick in under these circumstances. His suit scans his brainwaves at regular intervals to determine that they do not deviate from established norms. If there is a problem, a trusted employee has been selected to receive instructions for retrieving a second suit, and charged to rescue Dexter Morache. (This is how I handed the PC off to a new player when I GM'ed). Protector would be below average intelligence, and would become more violent and less rational in his attempts to patrol his neighborhood. He would compensate for his lack of planning with a savagery that would lead to a messy confrontation with several enemies working in tandem... Bouncer would shortly own everything advertised on Late Night TV...
  7. Re: Arrows of the Gods Everyone beat me to the Dionysus Arrow, the Olympian's favorite.
  8. Re: Favorite Abuses I assumed he meant NND's with different effects: the 4d6 NND Neutron Gun (Defense is Force Field), and the 4d6 NND Force Field Subverter (Defense is No Force Field)
  9. Re: WWYCD #94: The Nar Cola endorsement Golden Eagle: "Sorry, I am under exclusive contract with DexCorp. Wait, isn't Nar-Cola a division of DexCorp? You really should have checked with legal before approaching me..." Protector: "I don't know how you found me, but you better UN-find me, man. Besides, that stuff'll rot your teeth..." Bouncer:"Where do I sign? can I do one with Jessica Simpson? How about Miss Piggy? Let me check with my lawyer and make sure this doesn't conflict with my 1-800-CALL-ATT gig."
  10. Re: WWYCD #92 - Zero Sum Golden Eagle would point out the obvious to the Omniscient. "Since you call yourself the Omniscient, surely you understand the definition of consensus. Allow me to be the single voice of dissent that makes consensus impossible. Now go bother some other species, we have work to do."
  11. Re: Games gone awry Why don't you tell us the reason this makes you so mad, why it strikes a nerve. Did someone do this to you?
  12. Re: Things that work in comics but don't work in Champions In our game we call that "Waiting outside the Russian Embassy", which is what one PC did while the rest of the game happened without him.
  13. Re: Please help me with "The Star Chamber" Here are some ideas off the top of my head: Red Mantis: a corruption of Rhadymanthys, one of the three Gods of the Greek Underworld. All of the gods in my games are incorporeal, and must possess humans to have any effect on the Physical world. Judge, Jury, and Executioner: Judge can compel people to testify, Jury can generate eleven other duplicates, and Executioner has saw blades on his wrists. Chief Justice: a Captain America type, with a robe and a gavel instead of a shield.
  14. Re: WWYCD #91 - A matter of Family Golden Eagle would let Dr. Destroyer die, not to protect his identity, but because it is not ethically required of him Bouncer can't understand how his arch nemesis, El Muerto Mechano (the spirit of El Muerto Obscuro, trapped in a Mechanon body) is his grandfather, much less how his blood would help. He lets him die, knowing that he will come back in a less invincible form. Toreador had no idea that Taurus was that old. The last time they fought, he cut off the tip of Taurus' tail, and told him, "Next time, I keep the ears, too." Assuming he is still in prison, He trusts the doctor's confidentiality to keep his relationship to Taurus a secret.
  15. Re: Kinetic-Kill Missile I had another thought: Make it a SPD 12 with a 1/4 limitation (no turning) on 6 SPD. I wonder if all vehicles should be bought this way, so that you can move them on every phase., but turn them on your own phases...
  16. Re: WWYCD #90: Brainwave Golden Eagle is dedicated to making the world a better place through his inventions. He immediately goes to his office, looks at every research project his corporation is working on, and solves as many problems as he can. Protector looks at all of the criminal organizations plaguing his neighborhood, and draws up an organization chart linking them together. He hatches a plan to get rid of them, using more powerful heroes as pawns. Bouncer would go on Celebrity Jeopardy.
  17. Re: Surveying my players to get just the right campaign style I think the opposition power leaves out my favorite option: The heroes are a small part of a larger force for good, and battle opponents that occupy a similar position in the force for evil. As the characters rise in power, they become a more integral part of that force, as do the opponents they attract.
  18. Re: What would your character do #83 ? Golden Eagle would try to get the governor to stay the execution a week while he could verify the facts. If he refused, he would tell him to turn on the 6 o'clock news. He would have previously used his influence as one of the fifty richest men in the world to leak to the press that he planned to move a billion dollars worth of business out of his state. If the governor capitulates, he will hold a press conference by the 11 o'clock news to say it was a nasty rumor.
  19. Re: Highlights in Champion's books Darn, I was hoping this post would have writeups for Goofus and Gallant...
  20. Re: Good places to have battles...and stuff Most museums have tourist maps that will help you create a good battle map. Pre 9/11, I wanted to create gamer's maps of real locations in NYC. Post 9/11 it seems like a way to get your very own FBI file.
  21. Re: Am I Evil or What Actually, DD is one floor below, plotting his next big event. When he has finished, the underground lair will blast into space, where it will become a fully operational Orbital Mind Control Laser...
  22. Re: Conan vs. Elric If Conan has enough time to prepare, he can defeat anyone. No, wait... that's Batman. Never mind.
  23. Re: WWYCD? #80: Future Hope or Hellspawn? Golden Eagle would explain to them that altering the past is impossible, using charts and graphs if needed. He would tell them that they come from "counterverses", pocket universes the size of our solar system, that split off in 1997. At one time, all counterverses had an equal opportunity to break through to join the one true timeline. But after the Counterverse Crisis, the Guardians chose this timeline to be integrated into the rest of the universe, while their timelines have turned in on themselves. In 100 years, they will grow further away from our integrated universe and no travel here will be possible. All the while he would be rearranging the circuits in his force field to create a portal to send them back. Johnny Angel the teen combat precog from 1959, recognizes the daughter as teammate Barracuda's, and the son as teammate Stray Cat's (The gills or tail give them away). He smiles to know that sooner or later, he's going to do it with one or both of them. He would try to stop them from fighting, but they would likely continue until one of them was severely wounded or killed. He would then have the other or both thrown in jail. This is likely the event that sent JA in my game down the path to becoming Seraph, the Time Master, and creating the Counterverse Crisis.
