  1. You could skip the crew (multi-year journey, after all) and have everything automated. Would greatly reduce the amount of area that needs shielding. Crew could then be either in hot sleep/popsickle form, or could be in embryonic stage...designed to be born and raised by the ships computer after arrival.
  2. Some that have appeared before me: ~The Polynesisan Superheroine, who is a poweful Telekinetic, named "Mango" The Man in the Moon: Never got past the "name" stage. ~The sentient potato, with Dr. Destroyer as a hunted. Created in an accident involving the Good Doctor's microwave, he required periodic returns to said microwave to return his superpowers. Was a master of disguise... ~The Green Lantern Clone, protecting the Earth, who looks exactly like basset hound. ~The PC who "updated" his character to 5th edition, and "forgot" to transfer his resistant defenses. Got shot in the next scenario. ~The supervillain whose power was that he could control two hawks. ~the superhero, who ran into the above supervillain, whose power was he carried a pump shotgun. The superhero team I made called the Brady Bunch. Their leader was named Alice. ~The Sentient insect alien, who wanted to bring his family to Earth (all 70 billion of them). PC, was, like all of his race, constantly hungry. ~The Bleeder: Hemopheliac with regeneration. Super hih body, normal for other stats. Member of military super team. ~Roo: Mutant who looked like a miniature marsupial. Watched by his mother, Kanga. no powers, just a super-genius. Gadget-pool, OIF: pouch. ~Battery Boy: Could absord electrical energy, and put it in his endurance battery. No offensive use of electricity, but could transfer the powers to others. Teenage brother of Electric Girl, who could project electricity, from her endurance battery, but could not recharge it. The team broke up in the first scenario, rendering both powerless. ~Glinda, the Good Witch: Powerful illusionist who sent out her small army of illusionary doubles to make the world a better place. She of course, stayed home and watched TV. (I regret to state that this character was mine. Her doubles eventually formed their own union, and had her committed to an asylum.) Not only was she aware of everything her doubles did mindlink/clairsentience, but each of the 16 of them had seperate character sheet, with seperate powers.
  3. Well, my campaign has 800 point PC characters running around in it. Of course, most of them spend as many points on skills/contacts as they do powers. But even without that, they are one of the more powerful groups assembled. My favorite high level story was when the characters went to an alternate version of Earth, where the Axis had won WWII. Besides beating up on Germans, and Nazified versions of themselves, a couple of them did a sidetrip to Japan. Where they deliberately woke up Godzilla.
  4. A Slightly different take on poor Kimmy... Do him as a poor intellectual, trapped in a despotic country who only wants to make movies. He is of course haunted by the ghost of his father, who despite being a devout communist, sems to be trapped on this world...it seems the worldwide communist revolution hasn't happened yet. His father will constantly be nagging him to do stuf...but only Kim can see him. Surround him with a pack of fanatical generals, who all have plots and plans to take over South Korea, Invade Russia, Bomb Japan, and melt the polar icecaps. One of them is even making atomic bombs, and won't tell Kim where they are! In short, Kimmy has issues. If you go with the idea of Kim Jong-Il being a supervillain, the only real way to do it is tom make him Menton. Drop the stuff about him being connected with Destroyer, lower appearance to 8, and you have the perfect villain.
  5. Have Grond do a takeaway maneuver, grab the PC's gun, then grab the PC. He will then threaten to shoot the player unless his demands are met.
  6. Well, if he is actually absorbing/redirecting friction, he may get some kind of absorbtion, heat/friction only. A Change environment where he raises an areas temperature (runs around really fast). Useful when glaciers threaten the city. Similar ability to evaporate water, for when it floods. A really fast metabolism, requiring him to eat lots of food. A secret identity, working as a manager in the fast food industry The usual speedster stuff (there is a thread about them in the champs section)
  7. *cough* Arguably, feudalism. The Romans also used to reward soldeirs by giving them land. Granted, they could have given cash...but they were cheap. The amount and availability of currency has a big impact on the campaign world. If there is little currency, everything is barter. Towns will have difficulty working. A lot of currency, and who would want to be a peasant? They would all run off to the city and get jobs. I wonder how long this discussion will go on.
  8. I will attempt to answer your questions, as best I can: Alright, you are attempting to make a "Baddie" with software designed by "HERO". This is you first mistake. Try making the character as a hero, then at the last minute, put "Megalomania" in as a psych limitation. Then Save. This is very serious. In the future, do not allow HERO Designer to drive your car. This is very possible. Hero Designer was adapted from software developed by SETI. Take a flashlight outside, at night, and see if you can signal the mothership. Hmm...did you dance a polka while circling a pigs foot over your head under a full moon? That usually works for me. At the risk of being helpful: http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/ ~Download a copy (of Ad-Aware 6), and install it. (should be free) ~Run the program and scan your system, remove anything that looks wierd (thats generally everything). ~It sounds like some of your software is conflicting.
  9. I never liked doing personal relationships as a psych limitation, to limited. I Use a "Romance" disadvantage instead. Its built like rivalry: 5 basic points +5 Points if Romance is a PC +5 Points if Romance is unrequitted -5 Points if target does not know about romance. Characters get -2 to skill rolls, if their romance is threatened, and +2 in actions that might actually save them. Note: I can't remember where I got this from, but I did not think of it. Found it somewhere, had it as an house rule for an age.
  10. The unstoppable Husky and... 1) Pipboy! 2) Kamelion! (mispell deliberate...Germans made him) 3) Arctic Avenger! 4) Lemming! 5) Frosty!
  11. Its been over the last couple years, but the Savage Dragon has moved over to an alternate version of his original Earth. Assuming the Earth he was on previously was his original, of course.
  12. I concur. Bran is my hero. Island in the Sea of Time, by S.M. Stirling (and its sequels) ~The island of Nantucket goes back in time to the bronze age (pre-Trojan war). What sets it apart from most books of its type is that thousands of people go back...the entire island in fact. Good characters, good knowledge of history. I read a bunch of books, but recommend few.
  13. All true, I do the same thing. As an example, I heavily modified Dr. Destroyer. Once I made her a female alien impersonating a nazi war criminal who had traveled through time as one of the few suriviors of her race and desired nothing more than to feel save and secure in the modern world, Destroyer became interesting. Of course, it took a while for my players to figure all this out. It did do a better job of explaining his ubertech, however.
  14. ...Must...reach...102... 33) The Good of the Snake: An American President is shot on national television…the Vice President is in control…and the alleged assassin tells you with his dying breath that the Vice President is the Supreme Serpent. Alone, confused, and wanted by the most powerful nation on Earth for knowing too much…will the Heroes bring down the government? 34) VIPERCon: Either as one of his contacts, or while taking a cab, the Hero strikes up a conversation with a cabbie. He tells you about his last fare, and apologizes for them throwing up in the back seat. They were good tippers though, and were on their way to the convention center. Something called VIPERCon… 35) VIPER Day: While watching a televised parade on television, and waiting for the football game to start, the Heroes watch a series of floats go by. Then a Green float goes by, filled with a bunch of guys in green armor waving to the cheering crowds. Alternate1: The heroes are on their own float, behind the IPER float. Alternate2: The heroes are in the crowds watching the parade, in their secret identities. 36) VIPER Spam: VIPER conducts its most insidious plot. Using thousands of cheaply purchased used servers, they set up a clandestine effort to bring down the Internet. Various gambling and Porn sites, are told to pay blackmail…or else. Will the players join forces with the peddlers of sin and corruption? Or will poor Timmy no longer be able to download his homework form school? 37) The Man from VIPER: The team is contacted by a highly placed VIPER operative who wishes to help them disrupt local operations. Claiming to be a deep cover plant placed by the former Soviet Union, can the heroes trust the man who no longer has a country?
  15. Hey, that sounds pretty good! *yoink* IMC, my strongest guy is the Enlightened Despot of Iceland. My superman clone is actually an entire family...Supes has enough powers for multiple people.
  16. Just to clarify the Aluminum Point. The book I mentioned (almost a month ago!) was basicly a modern retelling of a "Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". Aluminum was considered a "magical metal" because wizards made it, in secret process. The wizards had a very powerful guild to keep the process secret. Since they made the money, they could also hire an army to chase down anyone who discovered the process. The Hero of the book was a physicisit type, so of course he knew an Industrial method for making Aluminum. Ultimately, as that great philosopher, Homer J. Simpson said: Money can be exchanged for goods and or services. What it is composed of doesn't really matter, other than as a medium of exchage. Merchants have to accept it, basicly. So I throw out some new info: one of the most valuable things in earlier times were dyes. Simply being able to have your clothes be a different color was a big deal...it allowed nobles to be readily identified.
  17. This is fun. Answers to some raised questions: Well, he looks like he ought to be dead. The comatose President is in a very secure, top secret location. Alien assassins from Beyond the Moon are after him! (supposedly) Never said he did. He may have knocked on the door to your Headquarters. Or, on the door of whatever building you happened to be in at the time that had a fixed entry/egress point. The Pope has met with several aliens, and says they do have souls (and thus, presumably can become ghosts). However, he never met with the alien species in question before. (He's a busy guy) Note: Every week, I get more curious about Husky/Kenneth.
  18. The Ultimate Brick? (I read fast)
  19. I had an idea, and thought it would make a good "What Would" The King is dead, long live the King Your character is dutifully performing whatever duties he fell he must do, when he passes by a television. On the screen the President of the United States is giving a press conference, answering questions about his proposed new crime bill. Suddenly, the President staggers, and a blotch of red appears on his immaculate suit…the President has been shot! Over the next few weeks, the largest manhunt in the nations history searches for the shooter, with little success. The President lies in a coma, and the Vice President is in charge of the country. Rumors circulate that the President may be declared unfit for office by the cabinet, allowing the Vice President to assume the office. The Vice President, and much of the media, has blamed the assassination on the actions of a super villain, who just happens to be an alien. The fear is that an alien fleet is coming, and that the alien in question is the vanguard for an invasion. The Vice President has proposed numerous bills to congress, to help prepare the nation for the coming crisis. A reinstatement of the draft, a mandatory period of government service for all people with super-abilities, tax breaks for certain corporations, and the creation of a national health care system…with extra coverage for all those with super-abilities. He also wants to organize all super beings (Heroes and Villains) into a force to combat the presumed alien aggressors. Pardons will be issued to any villain who joins. It has been weeks since the assassination; you are watching the latest superhero declaring that he supports the Vice President (some guy you have never heard of…who just happens to look vaguely like Boa Constrictor), when there is a knock on your door. Upon opening it, you see the alien super villain who supposedly shot the President! He staggers in, bleeding from numerous gunshot wounds, proclaiming his innocence! He says that he was actually trying to stop the assassination…that the real assassin was an agent for VIPER, and the Supreme Serpent is the Vice President! As the Visitor from Beyond the Moon slowly dies on your floor, you hear the sound of screeching cars out front… What would you do? What can you do? What will you do?
  20. Dang, your Doom-Fu is powerful! Next you will be claiming that Telios isn't a real boy!
  21. You guys are terrible...especially the Frying Nun. Don't you know that REAL villains violate copywrite laws? *Opens up refrigerator* Doctor Pepper: Disgruntled physician who can make anyone sneeze. Mr. Pibb: Angry african-american militant, who fights racism. "They call me MISTER PIBB!" Mountain Dew: Poverty stricken girl from the mountains of West Virginia, can make it rain. Code Red: Able to fire off lblasts of light, but only in the "Red spectrum" Seven Up: Duplicator who can form up to 7 of himself, also an Olympic level wrestler. Root Bear: Mystical villain who can turn into a bear...after he eats a mystical root. Sprite: A foot tall pixie, with delusions of grandeur. Team leader.
  22. Really? Never noticed... *Whistles calmly as lawyers circle overhead* Had another idea...what about the speedster that is uberfast, who is also a master of disguise? Able to change costumes so quickly, he could meet the heroes a dozen times before they realize it! You could always have him do some of the following: 1) Trash the team mebers cars 2) Carjack any team vehicle 3) Remove al lthe doorknobs from all the base doors, at superspeed 4) Do the same thing as #3, but for the lightbulbs.
  23. Doom was originally a Fantastic Four villain...which meant he was to be defeated by brains and wits. If it came to an actual fight, only teamwork could stop him (all the FF working together). He has been exported to a number of "other" comics over the years...usually to his detriment as a character. I always saw Dr. Destroyer as more of a tactical battle exercise. He is a villain that pretty much requires an entire team working together, to defeat. My best use of him as a character was to copy Dr. Doom story. Have him take over a country, and become head of state. Then he gets diplomatic immunity, and can growl menacingly in the background. Don't forget his Luger!
  24. You may want to try some of the (old) Star Wars modules. Some used book stores have them on bargain racks. http://www.opifex.cnchost.com/worlds/index.html Has a Science Fiction scenario section, free downloads. http://www.downport.com/bard/ Although it never really caught on ,my favorite Sci-Fi roleplaying setting was Traveller's New Era. It was the only Sic Fi setting I ever saw that allowed the players to effect the game world. They also have a scenario section.
  25. Given that lunar nights last two weeks, I would think that the power source would have to be nuclear. It all depends on what they are doing. If they are just there doing science/hanging out, like in our space stations, they could get by with solar. If they are doing mining or industry, they are going to need a beter source of power. Other Sources: The GURPS Terradyne book has whole sections dedicated to living on the Moon and Mars, btw. The GURPS Transhuman books also have stuff, but they are a little to hi-tech and sterile for poor me.
