I was going through my old collection of GURPS Traveller starship sourcebooks and I noticed they included hex-based deckplans in addition to the square-grid ones.

Given the lack of existing deckplans for Star Hero, these could be a valuable resource and an excellent companion to Traveller HERO.  Here is a sample Free Trader deckplan:

Extract the zip file to a folder you have access to. Several sub-folders are created.  "Randall's Raiders" contains Character files (.hdc).  The rest contain Prefabs (.hdp). Run Hero Designer and open a character (or begin creating a new one). Go to the Menu Bar and click "Prefabs" -> "Load Prefab". Browse to the folder where you unzipped the Pulp Hero Character Pack and select a Prefab.  Click "Load Prefab".  For this example, we will select the New Talent "Animal Friendship.hdp". In Hero Designer, click the "Talents" tab.  You will see 2 sub-tabs, "Talents" and "Prefabs". Select the "Prefabs" Tab.  You will see a folder called "Animal Friendship".  Open the folder and you will see the "Animal Friendship" Talent (Real Cost: 20). Double click the "Animal Friendship" Talent and it will add it to your Talents list on the left.  The 20 points will automatically accrue to your character total. You can load multiple Prefabs simultaneously but if you have too many loaded, it will fill up your memory. Other Prefabs will add a Tab to Skills, Martial Arts, Powers, Equipment, etc. depending upon the Prefab.

C-Note got a reaction from Christopher R Taylor in Hth combat and hex maps
From 6E2P54:   Hand-To-Hand Combat (“HTH Combat”) is combat between two characters who are within Reach of one another. A character’s Reach is 1 meter around himself — about the length of an ordinary human arm, with a little extra space to allow for the minor movement that occurs during any combat situation. Some Powers or abilities increase a character’s Reach, as can using a long weapon (see 6E2 201). HTH Combat usually involves punching or melee weapons such as swords, not attacks that work at Range (such as guns or Blasts).

If you are using 1-meter hexes, I interpret this to mean that HTH combatants can be 2 hexes apart, since each combatant will have a 1-meter reach.

Trying to do my part introducing new players to HERO.  Running on Roll20:  Cthulhu HERO (Pulp), Hyborian HERO (Fantasy), Traveller HERO (Star Hero), Cyber HERO (Kazei 5), and Post-Apocalypse HERO (Using Danger International). Only 3 marathon sessions per year, but 3>0!

Don't even worry about the point cost for found magic items (except for purposes of Dispel/Suppress).  If the fighter found a +1 OCV broadsword in the monster's horde, fantastic!  What can be found can also be lost/destroyed.

If the player wants to start out with a magic item, then that is simply a power with a Focus limitation.   Pay points, and use the Focus rules.  Not using the "Real Weapon" limitation avoids the issues faced by "mundane" items.

C-Note got a reaction from Killer Shrike in Vehicle Size Considerations
Okay, found the relevant section.  6E2 p186 states:
"The dimensions presented in the Vehicle Size Table are not absolute; you can alter them somewhat as long as the total volume remains the same. The interior size of a Vehicle equals half the external size; with a minimum of one cubic meter."

Going back to my pyramid-shaped vehicle example above, I should give it a SIZE value based upon its Volume, rather than its Height.

I've usually gotten better results basing it on mass than on volume.  Do you have the mass of the pyramid?

C-Note got a reaction from Simon in Math issue with Barrier
I think it's just the HERO rounding rules coming into play. Increase the Thickness to "+2 1/2".  Notice the APs and Real Cost are now 67 when you increase the Flash Defense to 7.

Turning it around:  When Flash Defense is 6, increasing the Thickness from "+2 1/4" to "+2 1/2" does not cost any more APs.  Again...rounding.

C-Note reacted to Scott Ruggels in Blast From The Past Pt. 3 Rogues Gallery #39 Article on Gun Shows
The following images are scans from a Rogues Gallery Article I wrote, in 1994, for the spring issue  (#39). At that time I was emplyed at The 3do Company, and spending a sizeable percentage of my rather opulent Salary at Gun shows. I was, and still am a certifiable gun nut, and at the time was a very active WW2 re-enactor.  The article is a amalgam, and a caricature of Gun shows in California at the time, in the days of the hideous Assault weapons Ban, which spiked the prices on WW2 Firearms at the time. Ian of Forgotten weapons, though has since pushed prices into the stratosphere. But this is a glimpse into the Gun Culture in California, before it's Democratic Supermajority,  when there were comparatively few restrictions on firearms.  These shows may still resemble this in other states, but now adays they are just a fond memory in California.  I present this to you as a useful side trip in a heroic level Modern campaign, and I hope this provides some use to GMs out there:|

Now the dating shows.  There is really no surplus market any more since the start of the GWOT< the U.S. has gidfted it's Surplus  to it's Middle Eastern Allies, and surplus from before the first Gulf War has become collectible on Ebay, and is therefore cleaned out of Surplus stores, which these days, sell mostly camping and outdoor gear, and Chinese knockoffs of Vintage Surplus, and a few obscure European surplus items.  Heinrich Kriegleither was based on an actual seller at these shows that specialized in Third Reich items. He w3as just hitting 70 in 1995, so if he's still alive, he would be near 100, now, and such items he sould for around $200 back then are now valued in the thousands. Thanks eBay. Ian McCallum of "Forgotten Weapons", has also pushed the prices for firearms up, especially the obscure military  long arms and pistols. If you use these tables, please adjust your prices accordingly.  Hope this helps.

I'm assuming all in-system travel involves acceleration to midpoint, and deceleration to the destination.  This great chart is from Classic Traveller.

According to Star Hero 6E p218, 1G of acceleration translates to 120m of Flight per Turn.  A SPD 3 ship would need 40m of Flight to achieve 1G.  A SPD 2 ship would need 60m of Flight.  Etc.  Combat/Non-Combat rules apply.  There is a chart on p218 that goes up to 6G of acceleration.  With the Star Hero chart combined with the Traveller chart above, you should be able to easily handle in-system travel times.

Star Hero p219 contains even more optional rules for realistic acceleration/deceleration depending upon how crunchy you want to get.

Sounds like your 6E character template(s) got altered somehow.  "Heroic6E.hdt" and "Superheroic6E.hdt" are the names of the templates in the "HD6.jar" file.  Try replacing your "HD6.jar" file with a freshly downloaded copy.

Getting back to the original question, I would love an awesome Pulp setting using HERO rules.  "Lands of Mystery" was the greatest pulp adventure of all-time.

I'm currently running Cthulhu HERO for my players, converting published CoC adventures for HERO.  None of the players have had much HERO experience before, but they were all familiar with Call of Cthulhu.  I've been easing them into the rules, introducing additional crunchiness as they get more experience.

Of all the genres, I think Pulp has been the most under-served in the market, and a good opportunity for HERO to carve out a nice wedge for themselves.

I also believe the rules should be open-sourced (like D20), but that is another discussion.
