  1. Good point, although Evil Kenneth wouldn't care about keeping a secret ID (other than concealing his age) his secret ID is really more of an attempt to protect his parents who evil Kenneth would have killed to get insurance money years ago. I think the deep seated bravado Husky manifests would come more naturally to the Evil Kenneth the use of his real name while concealing his childlike body would be his own personal joke on the fools who dare oppose him.
  2. Evil Husky would actually be the Evil Doctor Clarke. He'd use the Husky serum to create an army of bloodthirsty monsters and control them using a Dr Doom like suit of power armor to conceal his youth.
  3. Your GM has announced he's going to run an alternate Earth game and he wants you to make a modified version of your character to fit his "Alternate Earth Setting. The GM is being deliberately unclear about whether you'll be playing your alt character or if your regular character will be facing them. So what is different about your character from Evil-Earth The standard reverse morality universe where good is evil and evil is good. The more moral a charcter is the more depraved they will be.
  4. Husky is probably the one about to push the button. But he would wait until the rest of the team was clear. There is a chance his better judgement would kick in if someone else noticed him and/or the button, and he'd use a modified clarkebot to investigate the button but odds are he'll just wait for the others to leave and then push the button. After all what good is being nearly invulnerable if you don't get to try and staredown the occasional deadly booby trap.
  5. Husky would be all over this like honeybutter on piping hot homemade southern cornbread. Kenneth would over analyze the date and plan an extravagent agenda before the date. After changing into Husky, Husky would ditch the itenerary change into a custom made tuxedo and take the lucky girl out on the town swinging from location to location hoping to see a crime in progress so he can show off and dedicate his victory to her in the media.
  6. Just to be a devil's advocate I can say in our game we used fractional aid to spd (ie: SPD of 2(.3) only needed 7 pts of aid to get 3 SPD and draining 1 pt of SPD wouldn't affect the SPD 2(.3) character since it just lowered them to 2(.2) but it did affect the 3 SPD character who would drop to 2(.9) This did not bust our game or cause gross abuse but then again we were playing a Super Espionage game that focused more on tactics against hordes of soldiers or security gaurds than on traditional "Super" battles. So I'd encourage you to try the fractional SPD approach but YMMV.
  7. I've arbitrarily decided to end nominations and start the poll using my own biased opinion to decide which sidekicks to list so feel free to carry your comments or suggestions over there.
  8. I'm planning on doing a "Who's the Best Sidekick" poll tommorow so I'd like to hear nominations. I'm not looking for most powerful sidekicks I'm looking for "Best" defined however you like. Examples Arthur (sidekickof the Tick) Dyno-mutt (sidekick of Blue Falcon) Rusty (sidekick of Big Guy)
  9. I'm trying to design a sidekick for Husky a brawling brick of a character with a Super intelligent child alter ego. The sidekick will be a robot who changes shape and creates solid illusions. I have the concept and the mechanics to a managable state but I can't think of a good name for the sidekick so fill in the blank comic book title and provide as much explanation as you'd like. The Unstoppable Husky and _______________________
  10. Husky is going to go tangle with the agents and try to rally support for assaulting the Vice President. When (if) the action subsides and Husky transforms into Kenneth. Kenneth will apply his intellect to reviving the President and restoring him to power. He'll probably construct a quick army in the form of robots (a very large summoning focus) and maybe a few megascale stun bombs in case military units get mobilized Kenneth will adopt a DC style Oracle role until the crisis is averted or he is backed into a corner and threatened with personal danger at which point he'll change into Husky and we start back at the beginning of this paragraph.
  11. A mental defense Flash used (against Grod I believe) would justify a mental damage shield. Basically the Flash was thinking so quickly the mentalist was trapped in his head for what seemed like an eternity until he was exhausted the net effect in the real world was the mentalist laughs maniacally makes contact and then passes out realing from the contact.
  12. And don't forget Drain "Focus based powers"
  13. JUst a suggestion but a unique speedster in my opinion was Reflex from DC's Soveriegn 7. He was a brick but he had super reflexes. The effect was he was always faster than his opponent but otherwise he was just quick. You could decrease the cost of theextra SPD with a limitation "only 1 SPD faster than the fastest person present" the value of the limitation will depend on how fast the average character is in your game. Throw on lightening reflexes in case someone else actually has SPD 12. give him the standard gamut of Missile deflection, rapid fire punches, AoE punches, Must cross intervening space teleport, etc. The villain is now a memorable tactical challenge for the party.
  14. Duplication doesn't have to upset the game but if it starts to take away from the other players participation then try to speed up the duplication combat things like only allowing one to hold an action at a time only rolling one to hit etc. This may not be necessary but if there is a problem it's an option to keep in mind.
  15. During our Fantasy Hero game we were fighting zombies; many years ago our gaming group fought zombies in a GURPS game which is when we first noticed how often the GURPS hit location table generates "Vitals" as a result. So when certain hit locations occured randomly the following statements were made. AFter the 2nd time a zombie hit our minotaur in the "vitals" "These must be GURPS zombies" "I thought zombies ate brains; I guess they really just go after what you think with." and after the Minotaur got a matching result against the zombies "I see you are mastering the Zombie-fu."
  16. As a rule of thumb if the computer doesn't have an EGO I substitute INT since it generally seems to reflect the complexity of the computer which is otherwise open to command. The big question is do you buil;d computers with Mental defense to repel machine mind control and give a bonus to resist "hacking" rolls or do you give the computer a Mental defense boost if it makes a sucessful computer programming roll (defined as security programs)?
  17. I'd like to know what problem people have with the break points. I understand it makes the character sheets look similar but since the character sheet is meta-game what is the negative impact of people having 13s and 18s as opposed to 12s and 19s?
  18. Husky would just change the channel after snickering but then again if he was bored enough to be watching TV then he'd probably be Kenneth. Kenneth would wish he was old enough to have a credit card so he could order stuff to do research on. He'd briefly consider forging an Identity but ultimately decide that would be wrong and instead see if he could boost the TV to pick up Alien television.

    Power Help

I'd also sound out support for the elemental control and variable sfx (take the variable sfx advantage points and apply the NCC limitation to them since the player can't dictate which SFX is going to be available) The biggest suggestion I have is to list everything on his character sheet for him to ask you questions about as he gets more familiar with the system but at the same time include a quick "power overview" that is the basic information like damage, bonuses to hit, etc.
  20. In our super espionage game we aimed for an X-men feel we simply put a cap on DEF to not excede the maximum damage of an assault rifle (this include any combination of body armor, combat luck, and natural armor) in order to bulk up our defenses beyond that we needed to rely on high DCV, missile deflection, and things like regeneration to reduce the overall effect of damage. The result was a game where the heroes could avoid damage effects pretty easily but it was very action packed scene to do so.
  21. You could also consider putting Usable By Others on the Personel Immunity portion of an area effect but that would really be better suited if the player could identify the good and evil with a linked detect. This is so clunky I doubt I'd even use it but thought I'd post it in attempt to promote lateral thinking.
  22. Husky Husky was inspired by my second Champions exposure (a Convention game) and has been written in 4th and 5th edition many times since he's actually very simple to construct in a variety of ways. In the game the adventure started with pre-generated mutants all being summoned to a local mansion. The character I was given was a mutant Lycanthrope who the GM had made kind of geeky for flavor by giving the human form speed reading and lightening calculator along with dis feat: squeeky voice. A nearby disaster occurs the characters all run off to become a team except my character who said "I'll go get help" and ran into a blind alley and seconds later a howling werewolf comes barreling out. (shall we say the group was not convinced by his clever ruse) the fight ends and the werewolf runs around a corner and seconds later my character walks back around the corner "Did you guys see that guy? He looked cool." back at the base they other characters were trying to get my character to admit he was the werewolf but he just denied it when they asked him "So why are you here if your not a mutant?" my response "I am a mutant, I can read really fast. I was probably chosen to be your researcher or something." I then demonstrated my speed reading and lightening calculator talents. Everyone started busting up laughing. So when I got home from the Con I thought up Husky. Kenneth Clarke mutant boy genius with scores of insecurities and low self esteem promoted by his non intellectually inclined parents. Kenneth has used his intellect to build a secret sub basement lab in his parents basement where he has developed the Husky Serum which turns him into a hulking fur covered master of Bravado. Husky is overconfident and charming defeating foes with his amazing physical abilities as well as his disarming demeanor. To make Husky you just take your campaign character points subtract the points for OIF clawed gauntlets with HKA, clinging, and swinging (the exact levels of which are dependent upon things like the team's movement ability, lethality of foes, etc.) then simply divide the remaining points equally between STR, DEX, CON, BODY, PD, ED, REC (remember a 30 REC means you heal 1 body per day) and damage resistance. Spend experience points on a VPP pool that Husky can't change to represent any gadgets Clarke Builds to help with the adventure. Theoretically if the character ever grew up he'd probably have power armor but at his usual level he's simply not interested in most "gear" Clarke makes. Publically Husky tells the following story to protect his secret ID. "I was born on a dying world known as Huskton, My parents sent me in a speeding rocket to Earth where I was raised by a rural family who taught me the responsibility of power. Your yellow sun gives me my exceptional physical abilities and shiny coat. I do have a vulnerability to a radioactive substance known as *Huskinite." (*There is no such thing but Husky claims proximity to deposits of it as an excuse when he is defeated) As a character has lowered physical characteristics and super human mental characteristics Kenneth pays for the Husky Multiform, a wide gamut of talents, science skills, a VPP of technology, the base, and follower Clarke Bots who impersonate him when he's off being Husky. Husky is bored by Kenneth's geek stuff and doesn't use it so I've never had a GM who questioned his not purchasing the base and related items. Disadvantages for both characters focus on their extremely different psychologies mostly with any left over points being DNPC famliy and friends for Clarke and multiple hunteds with low freq's along with Fame for Husky.
  23. Kenneth will be flabbergasted by his uncle's new girlfriend and try to excuse himself from dinner as soon as possible he'll then lock himself in the basement and activate a Kenneth bot to "do homework at his workbench" he'll then go into the secret lab and take advantage of this opportunity to get as much data on the villainess as possible while she's this close to his sensory equipment if he detects some kind of mind control he'll sneek out the secret tunnel and have Husky barge in on the villainess's trail and take her in. If not he'll rig some tracking gear and try to discretely place it on her person so Husky can follow her later. After changing into Husky, Husky will confront her about her "love life" and ask her what she's doing messing with a civillian before taking her down in front of Kenneth's uncle. On the other hand if she claims she's given up her life of crime Husky will give her the benefit of the doubt and only check on her to keep Kenneth from obsessing about it.
  24. First of all we need to keep in mind that people are posting their character's reactions. How close or dissimilar they are from their own reactions could be a threadunto itself. Second, the real question is if this really is a victimless crime. Would people's reactions be different if he was making constructs of children who didn't exist or making talking sides of beef? The man is a deviant we all agree but is he harmful?"
