  1. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central She's just there to make the net.
  2. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Welcome! Verily 'tis meet to have thees and thines about once more!
  3. Re: Essentials Universe (Amalgam) Sounds pretty good! Projects like this are fun...and frustrating at times trying to get the right feel. Fair enough. Could give the Amazons an origin like the Inhumans or Eternals and/or link the Amazons to the Eternals (who posed as Greek gods in the past). 1 & 2 : Do you plan on doing any Golden-Age background? Or just starting out with those on your active list? If do Golden Age, there's a place for (Alan Scott) Green Lantern and (Jay Garrick) Flash right there. Throw in Captain America and maybe the original Human Torch and you've got the core for a good JSA/Invaders type past group, and give nods to two of the other "big 5" by showcasing their predecessors. 3 : I think you could probably do fine without one. They both tend to get involved with Neptune/Poseidon a good bit too, which is a no-go here. If want to include one, I'd say go with Aquaman who has mutant powers that make him "King of the Sea" and ignore Atlantis itself. Alternatively, make Atlantis another of the hidden societies the Kree, etc. sprinkled around Earth. They're even blue! 4 : Don't yield - back SHIELD! I think a good-guy agent group is good to have around. Keep them limited to fighting guys like Hydra so they don't go into Newark and step on Batman's toes too much.

  5. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Yep, that's a gal who can stop traffic all right.
  6. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Gammazon was also used for a far-future "What If?" clone of She-Hulk. Could definitely work, as could many of the other suggestions. http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/cosaveng.htm I especially like: Gammazon Jade Knockout Green Lynx is cool, great combo finding a green spider. Would work better IMO if she were more super-spy and less Hulk. Still, would be a good cover name for her to use sometime. :tu:
  7. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Yup, and yup. The history is whatever the history needs to be to be the most entertaining. The bulk of Marvel stories are used as a basis to work from. Chuck what we don't like, insert what we need in order for the characters/current state of the universe to exist. Keep the rest in a 'need to know' state - when we need to know what happened to Hercules/want to introduce him into the game, we'll work it out. Until then, doesn't matter. When we do introduce him back into the world, it'll be in a way that's as consistent as possible - for example we won't say that he killed Doc Ock or just teamed up with the Vision, because those contradict other established info. And Checkmate's certainly right - some want all the info up front. That's certainly a valid way to do it. We don't - we want to leave as many options open as possible within X framework. And that's just as valid a way of doing it. The two styles certainly don't mesh too well together though.
  8. Re: So, How do you take over organised crime in Huson City? I don't see how discussions about Global Warming or the Hegelian Dialectic really apply to the topic at hand. Gun Control as a plot device certainly has a place in Dark Champions - but it's not really being discussed as a plot device here. [mod]Take it all to NGD.[/mod]
  9. Re: Good ways to play champions via the internet? There's always HeroCentral, set up and run by HERO-dom's own Dan Simon, he of HeroDesigner fame. Follow the link in the forum index. Lots of cool features, including coded-in dice rolling abilities, pages to store character sheets and other handy doo-dads.
  10. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Might also be worth mentioning that MM's big schtick is the invulnerability aspect. Another "toughest one there is" would overlap, but a "strongest one there is" or another angle wouldn't.
  11. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Comparisons with the existing characters might give a better guide. I don't speak for Bill, but I'd think actual initial build is secondary to the character - if he likes the idea, background and personality, the build can be tweaked.
  12. Re: Stronghold I think what Killer Shrike is saying is: "Ultimately, how it works in your campaign - or if it exists at all - is entirely up to you."
  13. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central Maybe Fabian (Mechanaut) and Gladiatrix had sparks after their failed Avengers tryouts, forming a crimefighting duo and family. He's a mechanical prodigy with balance issues. She's a mohawk-sporting Amazon powerhouse. They fight crime. Or a combo gym/electronics repair shop. http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/gladtrix.htm http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix2/stankowicz.htm
  14. Re: Avengers: The Next Generation on Hero Central I like the idea. This fella may have to show up as an NPC.
  15. Re: Order of the Stick Would be awesome for O-Chul to turn the creature to his side. All that keeping him in reserve and winds up being used against Xykon.
  16. Re: Must use villains VIPER Pulsar Anklyosaur Grond
  17. Re: Powers and Pulp Could you be a little more specific about what you're planning? Taking existing modern Champions supers and having them transformed into more pulpy characters? Generally my thoughts on "supers->pulp" is "dial it down a notch" and for "pulp->supers" is "dial it up a notch". So maybe something like: 1) Ice guy - low body temperature, resistant to cold. Uses ice/cold based gadgets/freeze ray gun instead of inherent ice projection. More Captain Cold, less Iceman. 2) Add more restrictions into the magic, like can only/can not target living things, incantations, etc. Powerful, but has an 'off switch' so can get captured by the natives/Nazis/cultists/gangsters and put into peril. 3) Again, add more restrictions. Since he's sorta like Hourman, maybe include some of those restrictions - needs a focus or something to activate, and can't do twice in a row (needs an hour recharge). 4) As noted, not a big problem. One of the big points is that too much shouldn't be invested in their special ability. A pulp hero even without his powers/gear should be able to take on a couple of mooks.
  18. Re: Soviet Superheroes Why add a fourth? The Troika is a Soviet tradition.
  19. Re: Concepts You Just Can't Build on 350 points. Rogue's only really high-powered/expensive because of her environment - the fact that there are so many powerful people for her to get powers off of. One of those things you have to buy up to whatever the highest power level is in the campaign. If the top guns in her world were Fabian Stankowitz and Frog-Man (not Enforcer84's version) she wouldn't be too pricey.
  20. Re: What to do with an extra copy of Wings of the Valkyrie? Obviously Edmonton is the headquarters of the Global Anti-Zionist Conspiracy Conspiracy.
