  2. Re: Champions games you've run Vanguard - late 80's->mid 2000's, with several long breaks. LA based supers. After long break, had the original team disappear and brought in new characters for another run in the same universe, though little directly carried over from the old game (mostly new villains and such). For the big campaign finale the old heroes returned and teamed up with the new ones to save the world. WWII - team of Allied heroes bustin' Axis chops. Unnamed mentalists - 'people with powers' game, everyone had psionics of some sort and were being hunted by the token evil MIB/Shop organization. Didn't really last long. Strike Force - Team of UNTIL supers, two different incarnations. Reimagined - Take established names, make a hero/villain with a different twist. Ran both FTF and on HeroCentral, both fizzled. Sentinels - super high-point game, points largely based on player contributions. http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20962 A few folks never got characters finished, ran a few sessions with those that had, then group drama cut off two of the finished characters so the game went into indefinite limbo. Thunderbolts - The Marvel:TNG/Bunnyverse game Bill mentions above. Took over from the prior GM, stepped away for a while due to Real Life issues and Bill took over for awhile, getting back into it. Variety of one-shots and other things to be sure, but those are the ones that stand out to me.
  3. Re: Storn Art from idea to Full Picture Year 5 Have her be a whiz with anything electric (hey, she made a hovercycle) and call her Joan of Arc.
  4. Re: Campaign History, how did yours become dark? Do you really need to make something up? Buy newspapers from a few major cities for a few weeks. New York, Detroit, Miami, LA, etc. Clip out crime and corruption stories, make a scrapbook.
  5. Re: Storn Art from idea to Full Picture Year 5 To throw another option out on Bob's idea: Fury - female DAotN (Dark Avenger of the Night). Mostly black bodysuit, with silver/metallic taloned gauntlets and fearsomely visaged helmet of the same material. Technological wings made out to look (at least to a degree) like feathered wings. Sort of a Hawkgirl/Batman mix. Either modern-day or a 1930's more pulpy version.
  6. Re: Mixing Swords & Sorcery with Comedic Fantasy Depends on where you draw the lines I guess. What some would roll their eyes at, others would consider part of the fun of playing in heroic fantasy.
  7. Re: What would be your take on She-Grond? As a side note - does this remind you of anyone? http://www.dollsofindia.com/product/PG24 I had a subplot in one of my games where one of the PCs (Grolm the All-Seeing, an extradimensional mage who looked pretty much like a three-eyed, four-armed gorilla) was hailed as a diety by some Hindus. I haven't done that with Grond, but it could work for Grond/She-Grond as well. Could give the heroes some trouble with civilians for 'attacking a holy figure', much like some could give them grief for attacking an 'obviously angelic' villain that glows and has big feathery wings.
  8. Re: What would be your take on She-Grond? Would she have four...arms? Yes, arms. That was definitely the question. Arms. As for how She-Grond came about, I'd probably just lift the basics from She-Hulk's origin. Since Grond doesn't change back&forth can't have him really do the transfusion himself, so maybe either: 1) Mad scientist experimenting on Grond did transfusion to another subject who would become She-Grond. Could have the origin as an actual scenario - the heroes are tracking down disappearances, but get distracted by a bunch of pseudo-Gronds that keep showing up to tear up the town. They eventually make the connection and track down the lair & bust up the operation. 2) She-Grond was originally on the Stronghold staff, and was seriously injured during a breakout. The staff doctor had a huge crush on her and rather than see her die gave her some of Grond's blood hoping his recuperative powers would save her. Didn't expect the side effects. (Or maybe was accidental, in his rush grabbed the wrong bag of blood...). If she has control over the changes, maybe she still works at Stronghold as a superpowered guard.
  9. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Anything with air pirates is awesome.
  10. Re: What's more pulpy than lost treasure hunting? No wonder they sank...
  11. Re: Asp - Marvel Universe. I was thinking the same thing - much more likely it's just another stage name.
  12. Re: Am I explaining genetics correctly? Combo TK/Telepathy powers, like... The ability to telekinetically move brains? (ewwwww....) Mind Control? (physically controlling nervous system) Ego Attack? (telekinetically activating pain receptors) Making telekinetic force-construct representations of thoughts?
  13. Re: Asp - Marvel Universe. The FASERIP stats were: Fighting: Good Agility: Remarkable Strength: Typical Endurance: Excellent Reason: Typical Intuition: Excellent Psyche: Typical Does Feeble damage to anyone in area with her for over an hour. Prolonged contact fatal. Can redirect energy into single blast vs. living creatures. Remarkable damage and must make Remarkable Endurance FEAT or be stunned for 1-10 rounds. Hour to recharge, or 10 minutes if engaged in strenuous activity like dancing. Skilled dancer, Agility considered Incredible when Dodging. Not a world beater by any means, but not useless. In Champions stats, would probably give her something like an 8d6EB + 6d6NND attack and figure out the appropriate End reserve to do the one shot+recharge, or just make up a custom lim for it. Bunch of 2pt levels in the one attack, levels with Dodge. Acrobatics/Breakfall/PS:Dancer. If she can Stun someone, another teammate can finish them off. Especially if she manages to hit from surprise at 2xStun!
  14. Re: Best Basic 60 Point Power: Followers! I've wanted to do a "Nick Fury" type character for a long time. Skills and gear, plus a lot of points in agents/bases.
  15. Re: Heracles' Children Sounds cool. Good luck!
  16. Re: Let's get Ready To Rumble! (help) The miniature gamer and old-school Champions geek in me would like to see a couple of things. The GM in me has a suggestion as well. GM suggestion: Definitely do pre-gens. Time spent trying to approve new characters at the event is limited, time to make pre-gens before the con is much less limited. Old school Champions geek suggestion: Do it as the last rounds of the Great Supervillain Contest. Have the pre-gens be various CU villains (adjusted accordingly for balance), maybe toss an undercover hero into the mix too. Miniature gamer suggestion: If it's going to be a set location for the action with predetermined participants, having a to-scale modelled arena and minis for the participants would be aces.
  17. Re: Play on words magic items/spells Sphere of Blogos - Appearance is similar to a normal crystal ball, with spider-web like patterns across the entire surface. Contains the spirts of several deceased sages. Can be asked about a subject once a day, and one of the spirits will reply. They are proud, and cranky, so will provide an answer even if they don't know the correct one.
  18. Re: S.H.A.R.D. - Super Hero Acronym Resource Directory Couple I remembered for a character I was working on: F.O.C.U.S. - Fully Operational Computerized Universal System F.O.C.I. - Fully Optimized Computer Intelligence
  19. Re: Art question As pics, 3. They're there, they don't get confused with fire hydrants or something. Some of the effects used on minis don't seem to come through well in that medium (like highlights). Based on the pics, I'd imagine the minis *as minis* are in the 2 or 1 range. I like nice clean B&W art most of the time. The pics in the old Champions I-III books and old supplements (especially the Mark Williams pics), V&V and the like are good for me. Even with big Jeff Dee thighs. If a book is going to have color pics, they should be GOOD color pics. Colored Storn pieces, stuff by Elmore or Keith Parkinson, that sort of thing. Rendered blurry pieces with muddled colors isn't worth it.
  20. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Been watching a lot of Backyardigans recently. The little one really likes it, and it's pretty entertaining for us too.
