  1. Re: Hypothetically and unofficially, what would you like to see in a Mecha Hero book? Or it could be a special effect that allows for more responsive (higher Dex and Spd) mecha. One problem with Hero is that one can really overthink something, when the less complicated writeup is probably the best one.
  2. Re: Your "2009" Pet Gaming Project My Urban Fantasy Hero game "The Summerlanders". Still sooo much to do with the background and such. Though the game is technically ready to run I would still like to detail more of the Faerie Species, and the other Supernatural creatures. Also my Star Hero Campaign. I kind of want that Serenity/Firefly feel to the game, but I want the universe to be bigger and with aliens and such. Still deciding about the Type of Stardrive and how fast it should be. How many days does it take to reach another star system. Once I decide on that. I'll have a decent idea of what starships should look like. Tasha
  3. Re: World of HEROCraft? One jarring thing that we always had to keep in mind was that the cities and towns as portrayed in the MMO were relatively small, and that in "reality" are quite a bit larger. One gets so used to thinking of towns like the Crossroads, Ratchet, and others as being fairly small. We had a good time roaming around Azeroth as Horde. We were playing during the time period just before the Dark Portal reopened. The Draenai had crashed their ship into Azuremyst and the Blood Elves had decided to align themselves with the Forsaken. We played horde characers. I think the real challenge in writing up the package deals would be to capture the feel of the class as it plays in the MMO, but also making it a viable RPG character. We had a Tauren Shaman, Mok'nathal Hunter (My character), Goblin Tinkerer, Blood Elf Mage, and a Blood elf Rogue. We had a ton of fun RPing out meeting the "alliance" elves, and how Blood Elves would have been treated when they were first introduced to the horde. Esp with their very arrogant, haughty attitudes on the rest of the horde, and of course a history of fighting against their new friends. Well goodluck on the campaign.
  4. Re: World of HEROCraft? http://www.geocities.com/magusrogue/ Is the website of one of the designers of the d20WoW RPG. He has a ton of stuff that hasn't made it into the offical books. Having played the game in d20, I have to say that it is one of the worst written set of books in the d20 line. Very incomplete. Also the Classes don't play anything like the MMO. Also the crafting rules in the basic book are totally borked, and are only slightly better in the supplimental books. Having said that. The books are a great source of Warcraft Lore. Though I would caution any folk running a game in azeroth that ignoring some of the mmo conventions would probably be best for a long running game (ie Hearthstones, Flight Points, Pocket sized mounts, small world size, boat/Zepplin Trips across ocean taking minutes etc). I wish we could have talked the GM into playing our game in Hero, we would have been much happier and would probably still be playing that one.
  5. Re: Menton is up Totally hate the look of all of the named characters so far! Wasted brain boy just looks stupid. Yeah, IG i'll respect him for his powers, but I will always wonder at his lack of taste in taking a new young body. Doctor Destroyer is ok, till you get to his bucket of a helmet. it looks like the front of a steam locomotive and not the helm of the most dangerous villain of the Champions world. Defender: that boy doesn't LOOK like he's in powered armor. He looks like superman clone. He should be an Iron Man clone. I don't mind the open faced look, but damn make it look like he's in armor, not spandex! I find myself hoping the storytelling is better than the artwork! Tasha
  6. Re: How likely would your character kill?
  7. Re: How likely would your character kill? When I first started to play Champions, I came from a background of Hack and Slash, Monty Haul Dungeons and Dragons. So my characters were a bit more blood thirsty. Not casual killers, but they could kill. Now that I am much older, I find my Champions characters tend to have Codes vs Killing, and "Protects Innocents". To me that is part of the Psyche of a hero(ine). Now when I play Fantasy Hero, or other Genres where Killing is ok or even part of the Genre. I am ok with characters who kill. Metalstorm: A mutant with control of metal and magnetics. She wouldn't kill for any reason. Though she doesn't see androids as being "Alive" being all programing and such. 13 Black: Uplifted Housecat Mentalist. Wouldn't kill sentients. She saw her whole family gassed to death in the lab that she was created in. So beyond killing the random mouse, or bird, she wouldn't kill anything. Tasha
  8. Re: How likely would your character kill? Also I find that the more often a Villian escapes from the authorities to plague the Heroes once again. That the players start to get frustrated and start thinking about permanent solutions to the problem. So letting the Villian of the Week remain defeated for a while will keep said Villain out of a body bag. Tasha
  9. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game They Nerfed the XP that one gets for Rikti Portals. The XP normalization has really pumped the XP amount you get for everything. I went from slogging very slowly though the mid teens to dashing. Heck it feels faster than the double xp weekend. I play Heroes on Guardian and my Villians are on Pinnacle Tasha PS I haven't decided whether or not to get the Wedding Pack. Though a Flaming Blaster called Jilted. Hmmm I can come up with a ton of stuff for those costume bits.
  10. Re: Do you use miniatures? For our champions games we use a mixture of Metal, Cardboard Heroes, HeroClix and heavily modded HeroClix. Steel Guardian. Modded from IronMan HC Tasha's Mini Gallery I use Games Workshop, Hasslefree, Reaper, and a ton of other companies that I have collected though the years. My Cyberwolves are from a game called Legions of Steel, which gave me many robotic monstrosities to paint and use in my games. If it catches my eye and isn't too expensive, it makes it's way into the collection to someday be painted. Tasha
  11. Re: What does YOUR underground mutant organization do when: It looks like the PC in question is trying to break into Super Villany. If he really thinks that normal humanity is cattle to be replaced by the master race and he's set to come up with an anti-humanity hate group. Then the character is working for the opposition. Basically, it sounds like you need to have a talk with the player away from the rest of the group. You need to find out if he really wants to be part of the campaign or if he just misunderstood the intent of the campaign. You can then work on perhaps introducing new character who fits better (and possibly making his old PC a NPC who shows up later to cause trouble), or perhaps using this incident as an excuse to change the character's viewpoints to something more palatable for the campaign. As for the plot, the UMO(Underground Mutant Org) will be very distrustful of the PC team. Perhaps even wanting to sever their relationship to the team. If you want to dial up the angst, you could have the contact really be an agent who worked for the UMO. Then the team would have to deal with family members and friends who are in the UMO. Perhaps a surprise like this will teach the PC to not shoot to kill. esp if the NPC turns out to be a minor mutant as well. Basically it goes to show that no plotline really survives contact with PCs unchanged.
  12. Re: WWYD: Those Who Cannot Remember The Past I would experiment with my powers and practice up in their use. Then I would probably go out and fight some crime. Tasha
  13. Re: Battlestar galactica pistols. I read an article that the Baretta pistols aren't well liked due to their slides wearing out really fast. They were talking about switching to a "battle pistol" for specific troops and keeping the Barettas as the official backup weapon. I wish I had the link to the article Yes the Barett M107 Sniper Rifle is well liked (AKA the M82a3) among all of the troops that it has been issued to and that have been adaquately trained in the weapon's use. BTW Barret arms has developed a new 25mm round and weapon callled the XM109. It looks just like the M107 but it fires a 25mm round (owie!). Tasha PS M107s due nasty things to Goa'uld forcefields and the things being protected by said field...

She is pale complected, She usually dresses very professionally when doing her Animation work (Silk blouse, short jacket, shirt, 3" heels)) She will wear a coverall while she acually animates the corpse because of the blood mess. Notes: This is Anita Blake after the Second Book Laughing Corpse. She has recieved 2 Vampire Marks from Jean Claude, but is still basically a well trained normal person. Quote: "I spend most of my waking hours confronting and destroying things I fear." Tactics: This is Anita Blake after the Second Book Laughing Corpse. She has recieved 2 Vampire Marks from Jean Claude, but is still basically a well trained normal person. She tends to pull out her Gun and shoot anything that is directly threatening her. She fights dirty because at her size everyone outmasses her and getting maximum damage in keeps her alive. She will use her Judo on non-supernatural targets, but knows better to bother with paranormals. She also carries silvered knives in wrist holsters and ankle holsters. She uses a 9mm Browning HiPower as her main weapon, her 9mm Firestar for backup or for outfits that don't allow the Browning to be concealed. She also will sometimes carry a .38 2shot Derringer. All loaded with Glazier Safety Rounds, silvered for maximum damage to Paranormal targets. She also has a sawed off shotgun that she can use as even more firepower and backup, but rarely carrys that around due to it being illegal. Campaign use: If the PCs are going up against the Supernatural, then Anita is the person to talk to. She doesn't put up with fools very well, but if you give her respect she will show the same back. She can look at a corpse and usually tell you what killed it. If you wait 3 days and the corpse is otherwise intact she can raise it as a zombie and let you ask it what killed it. She is a great friend and someone who you don't want as an enemy. If you are a Vampire or a Lycanthrope with a reputation for killing people, stay out of St Louis or you might find yourself going up against her. At this point in her career she sticks around St' Louis where she helps out the Fledgling Police RPIT program. He help has been intrumental for changing the way that police all over the country deal with paranormal threats
  15. Re: Anita Blake beta writeup Yeah I can see that, but she doesn't really seem to need them esp when it seems that most called shots she makes are against DCV0 opponent at least at this point in her career. She can chest shot at will against most opponents. On the Martial arts, Yeah I can see less maneuvers being ok, though the manevers in Judo just seem like slightly different shades of the same throws. Though thinking about it. I think that instead of Pre Defense and TONS of mental defense, that she has a 20EGO with moderate mental Defense. She shows her strength of will time and time again, but really isn't that impressive. At least not until she gains that dead look in her eyes... Tasha I'll post an edited version much later tonight
  16. Re: Anita Blake beta writeup Again the writeup is for the Version of Anita that appears at the end of Book 1 and Book 2. I left her strength normal because she really isn't that strong. I left her Pre normal because most people have a hard time seeing her as being dangerous. She has lots of maneuvers in Judo, mostly because they are things that I have seen her do so far and some are things that I remember being taught in my Basic Judo class sooo long ago. Oh she has some PSLs for hitting locations, but I didn't give more. mostly because she targets hearts and limbs on things that are either prone or who don't move very well in combat. 17. Re: Anita Blake beta writeup The high BODY is a great way to deal with the way that Anita seems to take huge amounts of damage and still be able to function. BODY=Body mass is just your way of justifying it, but really Anita is one very tough woman. In my write up she has just received her Vampire Marks and really hasn't started to power up much. She is still VERY human in her thought processes and while she will kill for protection, she doesn't yet have that cold killer expression in her eyes. I am currently in the middle of the Second book (about 5th reread over all), and so far I would change her Judo skills as she is a Black belt, so I would give her just about all of the maneuvers. She just doesn't use them in "real" combat because she knows that they wouldn't make much of a difference when dealing with guys who are 200-300 lbs, let alone Vampires and Lycanthropes. I'll repost my Beginning Anita Write-up later today after I finish this book. I feel like I have a better handle(hero write up wise) on her now, than I did at 4am this morning. Tasha
  18. Re: Anita Blake beta writeup Yeah I think I got the Raise dead mostly right in my write up. I did forget the OIF Bulky expendable Sacrificial Animal. I would keep the Vampire marks in the write ups. She always seems to have them when it counts and also at the end of the First book she already has the second mark. I know that she loses them after that other master marks her himself to claim her as his Human servant. I gave Anita Combat Luck mostly because she was a Protagonist and gets knocked around quite a bit without much more then bruises and scrapes to show for it. As for Edward, I would always call him a contact. Yes he would gladly kill her if she threatened him in any way or if she had something he needed, but he always seems to be there when she needs him. Even in the first book she sees him as a friend who understands the Violent side of her profession. She knows what he is capable of, but she trusts him. I mean when she was feeling badly after a session with Nicolaos. Edward stayed up and watched her sleep to keep her safe. If she didn't have trust in him, I guarantee that she would not have been able to sleep with him in the same room. Tasha

  20. Re: Anita Blake beta writeup Only minor quibble is that I would have written up the Raise Undead as a Summon (Zombies). Make sure that she can summon like 200+ Zombies with a Human sacrifice she can raise a whole graveyard and command them too. other things missed: Followers, The Were Leopard Pard Follower: I forget the Vampire that now gets it's strength from her. Contact Edward 15- Also a Distinctive Features Small, pretty and easy to underestimate. Also IIRC there's a suite of powers that she gets after she become Jean Claude's human servant. Also she must "feed" using her Succubus/Incubus ability or make Richard and Jean Claude weak. --- BTW Being a Necromancer is a Death Sentence in the Vampire world. The Vampire Council does NOT like mortals who can turn them into servants. This is something that is only really known to Jean Claude and Richard. Some of her enemies have learned of it but they are dead.. or not talking. Tasha I would recommend Writing up a Book 1 Anita Blake, Then a couple of more versions as her power gets ramped up through the series. By the newest book she is someone you don't want to mess with at all.
  21. Re: How to Overthrow the Alien Overlords: Reboot If your aliens are barely technological enough to make their Sleeper ship, and the reason they want a colony is Living space, not resources. They could have just enough stuff to start that colony. Perhaps they can even burn enough resources to drop some rocks on our major cites to soften us up. I mean not all Superhero worlds have Superman level heroes that can deflect asteroids. A Dark Champions level post Apocalypse, Alien invasion game could be lots of fun. Honestly if I was in a game where the lowish tech alien race stayed in the Oort cloud and Kuipers belt to live I would really have issues with it. Your point make more sense with super tech aliens. I mean if you just need resources and not living space there's lots of real estate that can be plumbed for resources and such. Heck there's some moons where you could even reasonable set up bases if you DID need living space all without dealing with the primitive, violent, powerful species on that Blue ball. Tasha
  22. Re: full phase casting Not exactly answered I think. If you have an ability that is listed as Full Phase, it takes the entirety of your action on the segment that you act on. So for a speed 2 character. You act on Segment 6 and 12. You cast your spell at your Dex on Segment 6. The power is applied during the your action during Segment 6. Now the one confusing thing is that if you had Concentration 1/2 DCV that penalty would apply till your next action on Segment 12. You COULD also perform any number of 0 Phase actions before you cast your Full phase spell. So if you had a bunch of defensive spells that took 0 phase to change, or if you needed to change your multipower you could do it before you cast your healing spell (BTW the Healing spell acts like an attack action and therefore ends your phase so you couldn't do any actions after you cast it). Hope this helps answer all of your questions Tasha
  23. Re: Why is Piercing a power? Don't think of Piercing as a limited version of AP or Penetrating. It is actually built like a limited EB or RKA (only to soak defenses, Hardened Defenses ignores). That is why it is a power. I would imagine that if Steve thought it would work better as an adder or Advantage he would have done so. As he showed with Regeneration, Instant Change and Total Life support; he is not afraid to change something if it make sense to do so. No matter what was done "traditionally" with previous versions. I like Piercing. Piercing makes it easier to make weapons that can go through lots of armor, but only do relatively light damage. A very useful power for building guns. Though lots of piercing can make for VERY bloody attacks. tasha

  25. Re: UNOFFICIAL: Spacer's Toolkit 2 The previous version of CyberHero was a watered down half-baked job of converting ICE's Cyberpunk game. It was totally horrible. I was running a Cyberpunk Hero game at the time and they book had Nothing to help my campaign. It was the ONE book that I purchased from Hero Games that I actually felt was a waste of money. A good CyberHero Genre book written as well as FH or Star Hero will get my money. BTW I recently purchased all 4 Star Hero books, and they are a great value. Tasha Yeah, I would purchase a Spacer's Toolkit II! Esp if it had more personal and Starship weapons. IMHO there are too many Energy weapons and Nukes and not enough Ballistic stuff (ie like Railguns, Non-nuke/Non-Antimatter Missles, things like that)
