Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Hmmm... this might be good news. I think I found the problem with my computer, and I've got it booted up again. But the problem was the old wifi adapter (or its driver), so I'll have to replace it with something Windows 7 compatible that won't crash the machine all over again. Until the new wifi antenna arrives, my home PC has no internet connection. But at this point it appears I won't have to replace the whole thing.

Detect B.S. 17- extremely useful, part of the "common sense" group. I have a 2pt VPP for professional skills, judging by the bizarre list of stuff I've done for a living. 10d6 Luck, only to find good parking spaces. LS: Immunity to poison ivy. (Yes, finally something useful.)

Re: Knockback Attack I once designed a "sonic shockwave" attack which was a hearing flash with the Does Knockback and Extra Knockback advantages. (It also had a cone explosion AoE, but that's beside the point here.) Because it affected a non-targeting sense, it was cheap, did a LOT of knockback, and aside from deafening its victims for a few segments, did no damage whatsoever, aside from whatever damage accrued from the knockback. I suppose you could put a "does no flash damage" limitation on it to save even more points/negate the flash effect, depending on the special effects of the power.

Re: The cranky thread So my computer is dead. (I'm posting this from the office.) I've reincarnated it as a 'factory new' machine, with its original software and nothing else, which means starting over on installing all of MY software. Excuse me, but hell no. If that's how it has to be, I'll do it with a new computer that doesn't suck, thank you very much. Fortunately, all the Terracide files, Hero Designer files, Hero System material in general, everything for GenCon 2011, and a few other works in progress were backed up. (And my tax records, I think, but seriously, who gives $*!t about that junk?) So anyway, if you don't hear from me for a couple of days, I'm shopping for a new computer and setting it up. I won't be around the office much -- too much field work tomorrow and Wednesday.

Re: Skill's in Frameworks - how did you made it? I did a small VPP for background skills, which was basically a computer database. It's for a SF setting, available to anyone with a wearable interface or implant, as long as they're in range of a wireless network. (Yeah, it's kinda like an advanced PDA.) It's limited to "public-access" information: basic knowledge skills (at about a "wikipedia" level) area knowledge, languages and so on.

Re: Changing the Hero system It also makes Penalty Skill Levels v Hit Locations and the Increased Stun Multiple advantage more valuable. A mere +2 Stun Multiple (+1/2 advantage) is enough to double the average stun now....

Re: What have you Summoned? Worst Fantasy Hero spell I ever designed, but never used, was a Summon for Bases. The "Grounds" were bought way up (basically a km across) with the Wilderness location modifier, and it was useable at mega-range, as an attack. Basically, a cheap way to drop mountains on people. Totally illegal, I think.

Check out http://www.crank.net and you'll see what I mean. I wouldn't be surprised if you see some of the same authors. (I'm not checking -- too busy, work to do, and all that.)
