  1. Hey! Is that your boss standing behind you?
  2. Actually I have a Golden Age game where the players are the first superheroes. They are not THE first, the first one was Captian Atlas, but they are heroes of this particular age of heroes. They are a special commando unit of supers and are as such all of them are in the military. There are a few other supers out there but compared to modern Champions campaign there are very few people with superpowers. This particular campaign has the government creating a superhero team because in 1938 America was invaded by an alien races known as the Xylars. They were assisted by an alien superhero, a sort of green lantern type, which then signaled the new age of heroes. It is now the 1943 and the team known as the Elites has just found out why they were formed and now have to deal with Nazi fifth columnist that have made an alliance with the Xylars.
  3. Well as for the captured character we have kicked the player out of our group so that is not a problem. Not to get off topic but he was just annoying everyone and was probably one of the most stupid players I have ever met. I mean the only reason he was even captured is because he had his defenses completely eliminated and continued to fight. As for getting an NPC to do the legwork, I actually was trying to avoid doing something like that simply because it had been done before. Still, I liked the idea of the players playing the investigators that way they can do some detective work and still play their more combative characters. Thanks for the help.
  4. Hello all I have a problem. I am presently running a WW2 superheroes campaign and I have a group of Heroes who have just had one of their number get captured. Now this normally wouldn't be problem except that none of the heroes have a prediliction to actually investigating everything. The players themselves can do it fine but their character just do not have the skills. I don't want NPC"s doing all the legwork but I cannot see any other way to handle it. Normally they are a sort of superhero commando team but I wanted to do something on the homefront for a change. Any suggestions?
  5. I read that trilogy, I thought it was pretty good. But then I like most everything he writes.
  6. This reminds me of the movie Peggy Sue got Married. In a nutshell it is about a middle age woman who travels back in time to herself as a high school student. One scene had her in her algebra class taking a test. When the teacher catches her doodling all over the test he demands an explanation. Her reply "Mr ___ I know for fact that I will never use this".
  7. Bora is dead, both her and The Whip were killed by VIPER snipers during a war they had. They were replaced by Scorpia and Feurmacher. Just and FYI.
  8. I set my team up against Eurostar. I basically decided to play challenge of the gods sort of adventure. Basically I had Odin choose my PC's as champions against the champions of Istvatha V'han who were Eurostar. They ended up defeating the team for the most part but they got away when Scorpia poisoned one the heroes named Makeshift and bargained for the antidote. She actually ended up being the most dangerous villian of the whole team.
  9. Captain Marvels Shazam stood for: Solomon: Wisdom Hercules: Strength Atlas: Stamina Zeus: Power Achilles: Invulnerability Mercury: Speed Black Adams Shazam was: Powers (Pre-Crisis): Shu - stamina Hershef - strength Amon - power Zehuti - wisdom Anpu - speed Menthu - courage Powers (New Beginning): Shu - stamina Heru - swiftness Amon - strength Zehuti - wisdom Aton - power Mehen - courage And just because I like her alot Mary Marvel's is Selena's Grace Hippolyta's Strength Ariadne's Skill Zephyrus' Fleetness Aurora's Beautiness and Minerva's Wisdom. Holy Moley!
  10. Basically the problem I see is that a child with Anthony like powers would have no real concept of morality. The reason being that with a child that had all that power you couldn't really correct or punish them. So without that in thier thinking everything comes down to what you want or desire being good and what hurts you as being bad. Another good example of this would be the Charlie Evans character from the Star Trek episode Charile X, although he was a teenager.
  11. It was called It's a good like and the child was Anthony played by Will Mumy. There was a sequel episode on the new Twilight Zone where Anthony is all grown up and with a daughter who has the same powers as well as the ability to bring things back. Cloris Leachman was also in the sequel.
  12. BTW Astro City's Confessor series had Catholic Vampire Priest and a team of Christian SuperHeroes. I forget the name.
  13. Very rarely, there was only one I can remember that was a druid who was a counselor to Conan when he was King of Aquinolia. Kull had this one wizard called Gonar who also appeared in the Bran Mac Morn stories. Apparently he was cursed to live until all the picts were dead.
  14. i think the Dr. Doom tale that was mentioned was the one where a Prince Zarkov? takes over Lavteria with the FF's help. The FF then find out that things were much worse when Doom was deposed and crime and suffering ran rampant. The FF help Doom take back his land and he kills Zarkov.
  15. Champions of the North has some information on them.
  16. I just wanted to say that although I really liked the 5th Edition Champions book I really missed the two characters Crusader and Starburst so with that in mind I decided to go ahead and make up Starburst according to Fred Here goes: Starburst Val Char Cost Roll Notes 15 STR 5 12- Lift 200.0kg; 3d6 HTH damage 23 DEX 39 14- OCV: 8/DCV: 8 25 CON 30 14- 10 BODY 0 11- 15 INT 5 12- PER Roll 12- 11 EGO 2 11- ECV: 4 18 PRE 8 13- PRE Attack: 3 1/2d6 16 COM 3 12- 10 PD 7 Total: 10/35 PD (0/25 rPD) 15 ED 10 Total: 15/40 ED (0/25 rED) 5 SPD 17 Phases: 3, 5, 8, 10, 12 12 REC 8 50 END 0 36 STUN 5 Total Characteristics Cost: 139 Movement: Run: 6"/NC" Swim: 2"/NC" Cost Powers END 62 Light/Heat powers: Multipower, 62-point reserve 12m 1) Wide Laser Blast: Energy Blast 12d6 (vs. ED) (60 Active Points) 6 12m 2) Narrow Laser beam: Killing Attack - Ranged 4d6 (vs. ED) (60 Active Points) 6 11m 3) Photonic Flight: Flight 20", x4 Noncombat, Reduced Endurance 1/2 END (+1/4) (56 Active Points) 2 12m 4) Photonic energy screen: Force Field (25 PD/25 ED), Reduced Endurance 1/2 END (+1/4) 2 10 Flash blast: Flash 3d6 (Sight Group) (15 Active Points); Linked to Wide Laser Blast (-1/2) 1 17 Holograms: Sight Group Images, Increases Size (8" radius; +3/4) (17 Active Points) 2 5 Telescopic +3 to PER Rolls (only to offset the Range Modifier) (Sight Group) 15 Heat vision: Infrared Perception (Analyze, Discriminatory) Perks 5 Money: Well Off 10 Physics Lab (50 Base, 0 Disad) 2 Fringe Benefit: Local Police Powers 2 Favor 2 Contact 11- Skills 1 Acting 8- 6 +2 with multipower 3 Computer Programming 12- 3 High Society 13- 3 Persuasion 13- 3 Oratory 13- 3 Scientist 3 1) SS (INT-based) (4 Active Points) 13- 3 2) SS (INT-based) (4 Active Points) 13- 3 3) SS (INT-based) (4 Active Points) 13- 3 4) SS (INT-based) (4 Active Points) 13- Total Powers & Skills Cost: 211 Total Cost: 350 200+ Disadvantages 15 Psychological Limitation: Scientific curiousity (Common; Strong) 15 Psychological Limitation: Gloryhound publicity seeker (Common; Strong) 10 Psychological Limitation: Underconfident and insecure (Common; Moderate) 10 Rivalry: Professional (Wonderfrau; Rival is As Powerful; Seek to Outdo, Embarrass, or Humiliate Rival; Rival Aware of Rivalry; Rival is a Player Character) 25 Susceptibility: Darkness fields 3d6 damage, per Phase (Uncommon) 15 Vulnerability: 1 1/2 x STUN HKA's (Very Common) 15 Vulnerability: 1 1/2 x BODY HKA's (Very Common) 5 Vulnerability: 1 1/2 x STUN Darkness attacks (Uncommon) 15 Social Limitation: Public Identity Frequently (11-), Major 15 Hunted: Pulsar 8- (As Pow; Harshly Punish; PC has a Public ID or is otherwise very easy to find) 10 Hunted: Miami-Dade Law-enforcement 8- (Mo Pow; Watching; PC has a Public ID or is otherwise very easy to find; Limited Geographical Area; Extensive Non-Combat Influence) Total Disadvantage Points: 350 Some of the disads are for a Miami campaign I plan on running soon. 17. That was a very cool story. Go Jarvis! Actually, I think what would happen is the two of them would get together and gang-bang that Aunt whats-her-name from the BatMan T.V. show.
  18. Doom is very cool. He has a alot of class and style as well as a code of honor rarely seen in today's villians, although in the latest FF story he has kind of put his honor aside. Thanos is pretty cool as well, although Darksied has some coolness Thanos has the whole character flaw of not feeling deserving of his goal to please death the keeps him from just destroying everything.
  19. Hello all, Sometime ago I had the players in my WWII superhero game try to imagine what movie actors could play their characters. It basically came down to this: Major Glory, patriot brick: Dolph Lundgreen Jade, shapeshifting martial artists gypsy: Jane Russell Bjorn, norwegian werebear: Max Von Snydow Makeshift, mentalist/gadgeteer: Matt LeBlanc So far it has helped to make the game alot more fun for us. So I was wondering if you other players had ever done that.
  20. Golden Age Champions has a character called Captain Atlas. He is more or less a Captain Marvel/Shazam clone except he got his powers from a dying alien and he says lollapalooza! instead of Shazam!
  21. I have used Heromaker, HeroCreator and Hero Designer and of the three I like Hero Creator the best. I was able to make 5th Edition character just by playing with program a little. It is alot faster and more flexible IMO than HD. I am somewhat disappointed with HD's slowless and tendency to freeze up alot. It is very frustrating. Although it is nice program other wise I still preferred Creator. In fact if I had not that someone was going to come out with a 5th edition version of Creator I probably would have never gotten HD. As it is I am using HD because I loaned my Creator disc to another player who then left our group without returning it and I have since then got my new Dell. Oh well maybe 2.0 will be better. And BTW Heromaker wasn't all that bad, if anything it was durable, if only they had fixed that printing problem they had I might have kept using it instead of Creator. I tried using some of the printing solutions on the web but it was just too technical.
  22. Hello Guys, I was just looking over the Fantasy Hero playtest and I couldn't help but notice that Fantasy/Science Fiction writer Alan Dean Foster was missing. None of his writings were mentioned. Then I went to my copy of Star Hero and realized that none of his work was even mentioned alongside other authors. Is there a reason for this? I mean he is one of my most favorite writers but he seems to be completely ignored despite the fact that he has written for both Fantasy and Science Fiction. So what's up Steve?
  23. Sooo......... Has anyone done Killer Queen? Dynamite with a laser beam!
