  1. Re: Storn Art From Idea to Full Picture Year 4 How about a mountain? Kinda an ultimate "brick". Not a scaled-down thing, but a real, >10 mile square mountain. Normally sessile, under extreme circumstances can move. It normally doesn't need to move however, because it is an incredibly powerful psychic. It's so strong that the power of its mental commands can leak over to affect organic minds to some degree (it normally controls the rock class of minds). It isn't normally a player in human affairs, having only been born 20 years ago as a depository for nuclear waste and much more interested in geologic activity than in the affairs of microscopic bags of mostly water. Appearance: it's a mountain. Shadows from crags and stony prominences create the appearance of a lopsided face and arms a couple of times a year. A small forest grows up its base.
  2. Re: Accumulating points This kind of stuff (huge Advantage multiplier on small base cost) is why a minimum cost is recommended. E.g. if you have to buy 4d6 Telepathy at a minimum, abuses become more difficult.
  3. Re: What is awsome? Ah, you too have the power to kill threads! YES!! I'm not alone!
  4. Re: Haymaker out of combat Cool! This makes it a lot easier to imprison super villains.
  5. Re: Build your Super Self With only one power, I'd like the ability to induce huge feedback through electronic media. I could be USAGE! - the Ultimate Spelling And Grammar Enforcer!
  6. Re: Haymaker out of combat Reread Steve's post, and actually it didn't have the disclaimer - he said "As usual, performing a Haymaker has to actually subject a character to some potential drawback; if he’s in a situation where having a lowered DCV and taking extra time to use Healing aren’t any inconvenience, he absolutely can’t Haymaker his Healing (or anything else, for that matter)."
  7. A recent rules reply by Steve indicated haymakers aren't appropriate out of combat. So who has let PCs use haymaker to break out of a jail cell or other non-combat applications? I'm not dissin' Steve, he had the "dramatic sense" disclaimer on his answer as usual - just interested because I hadn't considered it "illegal".
  8. Re: Random Question Random answer: most household dust is skin.
  9. Re: Rolling Over versus Under Seems we lost track of the OP, i.e. changing the roll so that higher = better. Just in case a new reader gets confused...
  10. Re: Megascale and Teleport Sighting I've seen the Andromeda Galaxy while at the beach. My LOS is a cool 2.2 million light years (that's about 11,238,210,000,000,000,000 nautical miles - I'm a god!). Never understood questions like "How far can you see?". See what?
  11. Re: Kepler's Conjecture If you subdivide your hexes to infinitely small bits and distribute them in a fractal pattern, you can fill any volume you like using a single original hex-volume. Or less, but Hero sets the minimum at 1.
  12. Re: Power Design Good point - I didn't have my book; the "gradual effect" I was envisioning added 1d6/phase. Phase 1: 12d6 Phase 2: 12d6 + 1d6 (gradual) Phase 3: 12d6 + 2d6 (gradual from previous 2) Phase 4: 12d6 + 3d6 ... Caps out at 16d6 at Phase 5 using my imaginary gradual effect. Call it a custom limitation, obviously less than the official Gradual Effect. Re: Straight 16d6 does more damage - the effect sought was to ramp up the damage over time. It wasn't my idea. I was seeking a way to make the Power effective without blowing the 80AP limit set in the campaign. 16d6=80AP, so there isn't much room to go higher.
  13. Re: Power Design How about 12d6 EB +4d6 EB, Gradual Effect, Side Effects (area melts appropriately) and +5 CSL with EB, only with 16d6 EB attack, only after successful hit, must be same target. That way, you fire your max EB & hit (on a good day). The damage ramps up over time while you keep hitting with successive EBs due to the +5. If the GM thinks that's over the 80 AP max due to the +5 CSL, you can drop it to +2d6 extra and still have a powerful attack. Those extra 2 dice go directly to damage assuming you can hurt your target with 12d6. I like this approach since it seems your biggest problem is the AP limit. The super push approach is great but blows the AP limit badly.
  14. Re: matchmaker for masks? OK, whatever you do... Don't answer "Not at all" excessively! The text is bad enough but the picture - Gaaah! "Looking for some homecooked meals? Aunt May may be a little old and dusty, but she's still got some sass in those old legs!"
  15. Re: matchmaker for masks? Answer completely neutral & get: Lyja is from out of town...way out of town. Lyja has definitely been around the block...and the galaxy. With her shape-shifting abilities, she can give you a night you'll never forget. Hope you like the color green. A shapeshifter. Whoo hoo!
  16. Re: I Need A Gadget A mystical key. Stick it in the air in front of you and turn - an actinic outline of a ninja bike flashes for a second then disappears as SA mounts it then takes off like a ... ninja bike. Multipower it and have planes and boats. Limitations galore are available. Stick it in the air in front of you and turn - an actinic outline of a small door flashes for a second then disappears as SA reaches in and draws out . There's a lot more that a key could do, but SA doesn't want to press his luck. The original owner dropped it after opening a large door - something pulled him in and he hasn't been seen since.
  17. Re: Genesis of +5 = 2x power REVEALED Is not! There's not enough ink or paper in any textbook to print that first one. It's just stupid. I'll take my "1", thankyouverymuch! (and if you argue, I'll say it's only 99.99...% mathematically accurate!)
  18. Re: Help with player knowledge vs. character knowledge Even without knowledge, isn't the tactic of lifting someone into the air a good one? Do you use it a lot to capture without injuring? Seems like a good, general plan when faced with the unknown - (a) it's a good scare tactic (PRE attack bonus) ( non-fliers and normal STR individuals are helpless © pick 'em up high enough and even high STR characters won't want to fall. So maybe you do it just because?
  19. Re: Brain-in-a-Jar & Stretch First, to your direct question, no. I don't have a ready-made writeup for a brain in a jar. But it's a great idea I haven't used yet! Now for rumination. "Jar-head" would have lots of INT, EGO, and any senses you want to wire into it. A large base might fit, with remote-controlled traps, puzzles, cameras / speakers, and "monsters". That might be fun - kind of a DND flavor Champions adventure. Oh, his organization would need several smaller bases too I'd think. The brain would need a primary henchman, with some decent stats. Could be better than PCs or not, but definitely better than mooks. The brain would need lots of henchmen, and could use a lot of contacts. Oh, and a death ray installed in a volcano-lair, and sharks with fricken' lasers on their heads.
  20. Re: The Munchkin Build Contest That's no excuse! It has to be perfect to avoid being picked at by vultures on these boards, son - and just remember, nothing's perfect!
  21. Re: Howto: A Body Of Force Fields? Yeah. What Nexus said.
  22. Re: Help with a power write up No Conscious Control is great with NPCs. This "disadvantage" saves tons of points, and allows the GM to use the power whenever and however he feels is appropriate. Steve recently said that it doesn't use phases. Give the character a 30-pt cosmic VPP with the NCC "disadvantage" (OK, so it's not disadvantageous - change its value to +2 or something). The point is, with NCC powers on an NPC they get used whenever you want and don't use phases. Of course, this is egregiously munchkin to apply to an NPC. Just remember, it's good to be the GM.
  23. Re: Ignoring Armor +3d6, Std Effect, Does No Stun, Only to Bypass Armor (-1); 22 cp ?
  24. Re: Completely rearranging Adjustment powers - I hate the bookkeeping of Adjustment Powers. I'd rather see them all-or-nothing, as in they work for a while then disappear. Sure, that may not mimic a comic book somewhere, but damn! tracking all that garbage is cumbersome! Oh, yeah. Uh, original topic.... umm, sure. What he said.
