    That's true to an extent.

However, the Martian Manhunter isn't so much an effect as he is a complete CG character. That means that even though the cost to model, texture, and rig the character has already been paid, you still have the expense of paying animators to animate every scene he is in, compositors to merge him into the live action plates, plus trackers to track the live action footage, and lighters to light the animation scenes to match the live action lighting. And I'm ignoring the time and cost needed to mo-cap a stunt-performer, mostly because I don't think they bother with that on this show, but if they did, that would add to the cost of every appearance of the Manhunter.

It is a lot of work every time you decide to put a full CG character into a live action scene. And very costly, mostly in terms of labor.

Yeah, the effects have been marginal enough on a CBS budget - doing it on a CW budget would be tough. But at least we'd get more Flash crossovers.

We're setting up for the Big Campaign Finale. One PC has a 20-something daughter with superpowers, who is following in Daddy's footsteps. (She's a DNPC, but also bought as a Follower.) Daughter wants to join the PCs on the Final Assault. The player is debating whether to bring her along or not; the player thinks it would be fun and they could use the additional firepower, but in-character the PC would be reluctant to expose his daughter to what is practically a suicide mission. Daughter really doesn't want to be left behind, and is wheedling Daddy to let her come.

Another player OOC: "As the father of two daughters, can we just skip ahead to the part where she gets her way? Trust me on this one."

Have to admit I was flashing back to Supergirl draining herself in that previous huge use of Heat Vision, and the followup that noted it had happened to Clark before. Tricking Non into draining himself out would have been an interesting tactic.

I find myself feeling kinda embarrassed to have explain this here of all places.

Supergirl is clearly a 4 SPD brick.  This means that despite the whole super speed thing she has going on that she can only perform 4 actions in a turn.  The way she set about rescuing the falling people she had to spend one action phase to rescue each individual, and clearly CatCo Tower was not tall enough for her to get to her 3rd action phase before Kelly went splat.  I would like to think that Supergirl's GM intended for Supergirl to move some large soft object that was conveniently placed nearby (in Supergirl's case that could include a couple blocks away) to break their falls, and that Supergirl's player just didn't think to look for such an object.  However, it is also possible that the GM was being d*** and wanted to force Supergirl's player to make the dramatic choice.

As for the fight with Alex, once again you aren't looking a Supergirl's build.  Alex's DCV is at least as good as Supergirl's OCV, so with the -2 OCV penalty of the disarm maneuver, the move just isn't going to work most of the time.  Trying to perform a ranged disarm is going to be even harder since against a sword that is a -3 OCV penalty, and despite your talk of super-accuracy, Supergirl has done nothing to indicate she has any levels in ranged combat.

Also, using a sign post or telephone poll isn't the winning strategy you think it is because Alex would just use her sword to block the attack.  Blocked attacks do no damage or knockback and the blocker get automatic first action in the phase if the both act in the same action phase (and since Alex also has a 4 SPD they always act in the same phases).  So as you can see attacking with weapon of opportunity is a risky strategy.

    I hope these explanations help.

For a show about taking Vandal Savage down, you think they would have at least an actual Plan A & Plan B that they execute rather than just "making it up as we go along because we have so many episodes contracted".

    "How DO you fly?"

"Uh...I'm not actually sure of that myself. All I know is that I'm violating Newtonian physics when I do it. I don't need air to push against. And as for breathing--I can hold my breath for a long, long time. Long enough for sure to [REDACTED] and save the world."

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
It's the Scottish form of one of the names I go by offline.

What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
    Champions, a few months ago.

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
I still haven't quite gotten there yet.

    What are you currently playing/GMing?
Nothing; I am working on a 1950's alternate history Champions campaign that I intend to run within a year.

Yeah, as long as none of the Powers exceed the AP cap, I wouldn't mind if the Framework itself does. It'd be kindof a Caution Sign for me to look at closely to make sure the specific build wasn't open to abuse, especially with variable slots, but that's just to make sure I'm not being out-muchkined.

Regarding Silver Banshee's costume and makeup, I noticed a couple of times while Siobhan was freaking out over the changes she was experiencing, she saw flashing visions of her own face in the Silver Banshee guise -- perhaps some sort of precognition, or maybe an image the banshee's curse put in her mind. So the show did set up the precedent for that, albeit it could have been made more obvious or explicit.

As for Banshee's costume, to me it seemed just the sort of punkish motif Live Wire would come up with. And she was the one instigating the makeover.

I forgot one from the other week. The PCs are mounting an expedition to Hell to rescue some souls trapped there. The twist is the PCs are supervillains going there for not-entirely-noble reasons. So an NPC is explaining the nature of Hell:

“Hell literally resonates with the souls of those who have been sent there – the wicked, the damned, the lost. The soul of a Righteous Man stands out like a beacon against such wickedness, obvious to everyone for miles..."
"So we should have no trouble?"
    "Yeah, you'll blend right in."

Right. And as I've said repeatedly: I don't have a problem with that when she was a little kid. But somewhere around 18-20 the "My family won't let me" stops being a valid excuse for most people.

Look guys, this is a minor thing and I didn't mean it to hijack the thread. It bugs me a little; I'm glad it doesn't bug you; let's let it go. Besides in 10 hours we get the crossover and I'll be too busy Squeeeeing.

What was the fisrt RPG ypu played?
Guess what - D&D Red Box of course!

What was the first RPG you GM'd?
D&D Red Box again. I introduced roleplaying games to my friends in school.

    What are you curently playing?
My group alternates when it comes to gming/ playing. So, at the moment I gm Solomon Kane (SW) and Mutant City Blues and have just finished a 5 year long Labyrint Lord campaign. We still have a D&D 5th edition campaign and a Warhammer 2nd Edition campaign running and another AD&D 2nd Editon on a longer hiatus.

P.S.: This was my 1,000th post.

18 counts. I saw his inmate profile card. There were no other convictions on it. Truthfully, I saw it as you did. You work in a prison where murder is almost trite and having a guy with Wearing an Unauthorized Ribbon in there seemed odd. Still, it happened and makes for a quirky story. As to his deflection of personal responsibility, he was an inmate. I determined early on that you can easily tell when an inmate lies; he opens his yap and sounds come out. We used to have a running joke that when an inmate approached us and started out with "Yo Sarge, check this out...." anything after that was a lie.
