  1. In college, I played in a big campaign--15 or 16 players at one time--where virtually all archetypes had multiple characters. It worked pretty well for us because it allowed us to split into squads without any glaring combat weaknesses. We often had multiple gaming sessions in a week with small teams, then one big session to bring everyone together. The characters' and players' personalities were varied enough to avoid serious out-of-combat overlaps most of the time. In the few cases where overlap developed, the characters went the friendly competition route. Overall, the campaign was a lot of fun even though the big sessions tended to drag because of side chatter developing and players not paying attention to the action.

  6. Yes, very much so. I especially find myself doing that while watching movies, sports, TV shows, etc. In college, three of us that gamed together watched the animated Transformers movie and described pretty much the whole thing in HERO terms. It was a lot of fun!
  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER My full-time job is with an IT company that used to pay on the 15th and the last day of every month, then switched to a straight every-other-Friday schedule. As far as I know, everyone there is salaried. I also work a part-time job that also pays every two weeks--on the Fridays in between my full-time paychecks. I think everyone there is hourly, but I'm not certain.

  15. Re: Casual Survey: Age of players and Hero's utility vs. other games Although I don't know the exact ages, my gaming group breaks down like this: 2 Players in their mid-20's 4 Players and the GM in their early- to mid-30's. (Four of us met during college and are kinda the core of the group.) 1 Player in his early-50's.
  16. Re: THE ULTIMATE SPEEDSTER -- What Do *You* Want To See? Not really answering the question "In HERO System, what would be the most appropriate way to handle a speedster, whose mind is not as fast as his powers, i.e. running around a city and having to dodge traffic at super speed while his mind/reactions run at normal ‘human’ speed?"--but I have an image of a someone running through traffic with some Tiny Toons lines going through his head: "There's a car." "There's a car." "There's a--WHOOPS--TRUCK!"

    Running a riot?

Re: Running a riot? I've never run a riot, but played in a game where I broke up a small one by flying in, spreading a 20d6 EB out over an area filled with rioters, rolling a 6, and using a PRE attack to convince everyone that they REALLY didn't want to see what I could do when I was angry.
