  1. Re: What styles are going to be covered in 6E Ultimate Martial Arts? Urk. Where is that tread? A curosy (sp!) revealed nothing.
  2. Re: What styles are going to be covered in 6E Ultimate Martial Arts? D'oh! I never knew the thread existed. I'll take a gander
  3. Re: What styles are going to be covered in 6E Ultimate Martial Arts? Yeah, that's what I meant. Are we going to see rare or hotly-debated or purely cinematic styles? So here's a list Systema, Kuta/Hikuta, Vadha, (generic "i was trained in Tibet" martial arts) for pulp, The whole mess of CQC (american combiatves, Get Tough!, Combato, etc.), Rythmn fist, Eclipse martial arts -- the rare kind that was only found in internet order, or by personal teaching --, Raja Naga Silat -- the kind that claims to beat all styles and uses a weird guard posture where hte arms wrap comletely around the users' chest, Baji and Pigua Chinese styles together as well as separately, Frog style Gongfu, Tai-Yang Lung Tao, Li Ho Ba Fa/One Yin Circle, Nine Little Heavens, American Indian styles -- including Red Warrior and Guided Chaos, The various American Kenpo styles like Kajukenbo, that's all that I can think of for now. :o
  4. What the post's title says -- 200+ styles is incredible. Give us a taste?
  5. Re: Martial Arts Resources Regarding movies, I've got w soft spot for Boy with the Golden Arm and Master of the Flying Guillotine. The first one is a straight-up progression of more powerful opponents: Iron Robe to Bronze Helmet to Sliver Spear to Golden Boy. The second is a guy with a Flying Guillotine with decapitates people. Another, and much more common one, Is Tai Chi Master of Twin Warriors. Not only does it show some good Chen-stye-ish Taiji, We have Jet Li acting all wacky as a Taoist.
  6. Re: Martial Arts Resources A few rare ones: Lost fighting arts of Vietnam by Dr. Haha Lung The Way of the Sun Dragon by Kenneth A. Smith The K-sys manual by Matthew Powell Combat Strategy: Junsado: The Way of the Warrior bu Hanho Fukien Ground Boxing: Nan Shaolin leg techniques by Cai, Chu-Xian Don't let the infamous ninja books by Haha Lung fool you; the Vietnamese book is actually quite good. It reduces many complex techniques to simpler ones. The Junsado book is all that rare; Turtle press regularly has it on sale. Good luck finding the K-sys and the Sun Dragon books, though. I couldn't find either the last time I tried. (I forget whether it was through library or 'net search.) I also recommend going to the plumflowerpress. I forget whether it ends in .net or .com, but it's a repository for some weird MA styles, like duck style. IIRC. There are also some other interesting ones, but I've run out of time for this post.
  7. Re: Urban Champions: Shinobi I don't think you need KS: Common Knowledge. Isn't free? (i.e. everyman skills?)
  8. Re: So Now Your the Sorcerer Supreme SKJAM! wrote: Hougan Supreme? What was that like, and how many analogs (Supremes) are there? Makes me wish I picked up that issue. I thought it was another "What If...?" or one-shot. Same thing with Marvel's "next-generation" comic. (I only saw Spider-Girl, IIRC.)
  9. Re: Ben 10: Alien Force -Season 3 (6E) Bloodstone wrote: Ah, it was energy not matter? My bad. Bloodstone wrote: Yeah, the multiple power origins in the Benverse is part of what lent it its charm. Although I was wondering if they'd just use the "Green Lantern" explanation for Gwen's powers -- merely a tool for focusing her Anodite powers. I like the multi-power origins..so yeah, real spells are nice. Bloodstone wrote: Hey, I didn't mean to dis you, just voicing my thoughts out loud.
  10. Re: Miles Vorkosigan RPG Who the heck is this Miles guy?
  11. Re: Awesome Pulsar Lab Spans the Milky Way Away from Earth? Are we talking Ancients, 13 tribe, or highly evolved prehistoric species?
  12. Re: Ben 10: Alien Force -Season 3 (6E) D'oh! How could I have overlooked that purple-pink-rainbow thing? I think Wig Big is bigger than 100'. He picks up 20' Vilgax with one hand, and chucks him into space. So if Vilgax is proprotionally 6" and Way Big proportionally 72" (6 feet, or x12 bigger), that's a good 240 feet. I think the alteration of Kevin was due to him being nerfed early on in the show. Plus, we wanted to see why he couldn't absorb powers like he used to -- he could, he just didn't want to for fear of being turned into a monster (like when absorbed the Omnitrix.) I also think that the Anodine/magic thing was just so there could be a unified explanation for Gwen's and everybody's powers. I imagine it as: "Maybe she has magic. Maybe she's an alien. Hey, why not both? About Ben's getting rid of his maturity? I'm not sure why that was done...maybe it was because Future Ben (from the one Ben 10 ep) was kind of a jerk, and the writers wanted continuity? Seriously, I'm not sure why that happened, or if it's a good thing.
  13. Re: Those Meddling Kids Ragdoll, where the heck did you get that quote? As someone who's actually involved with a Patty it's kinda...
  14. Re: New Package Deal(s) Where are the rest of these racial/culture packages? The "warrior culture" especially sounds cool.
  15. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #8: APG Goodies Obviously, that depends what powers Chuck Norris has. Perhaps this calls for a re-working of the Density Control/Growth rules to effectively make Chuck heavier, and thus harder to throw. Obviously, this will take the "Only vs. Woodchucks" (-1/2) modifier. The exact rating of the modifier, will, of course, depend on the amount of woodchucks in your campaign.
  16. Re: District B13 Martial Art I may thinking of the wrong movie. Isn't this the one with the final fight scene between this guy we;re talking of and the guy who played the lead in "Ong Bak"? IIRC (and I may well not) the other guy (the one we're talking about) had double swords and was acrobatic. Hence my conclusion.
  17. Re: District B13 Martial Art I''m pretty sure it's Eskrima + Capoeira. Y'know, for the speed and acrobatics.
  18. Re: Holding the end of the world Doc Vision: He'd superglue it to himself. Don't have to worry about dropping it now. Unfortunately, he'd miss that various people would still want the thing, if only because they want to blow up the Earth or the like. ...at which time, he'd start figuring out how to use the thing as a power source. Given that he's supposed to be a world-class inventor (the campaign max for the invention skill) he could probably make one hell of a weapon/gadget pool/etc. out of it.
  19. Re: Super "Chi" powers? Pretty much anything you see in the Naruto anime series. Here the energy's called Chakra, but it's basically the same. Elemental blasts (normal, AoE, Indirect, etc.) are popular. The ultimate example is the Rasengan, a whirling ball of chi in the ninja's hand (HtH attack, extra END.) The Chidoro, Sasuke's signature attack, is basically the same, only it takes Charges instead of extra END (2 attacks/day for Sasuke, 3 attacks when he's given an AID by the Cursed Seal, 4 attacks/day for his teacher...can't remember his name.) Then there are all the medical jutsu: healing, transform (from crippled to good health, LOTS of extra time & gestures & foci), direct attacks on the opponent's chi, entangles made of chi -- unbreakable to physical attacks, they must be cut by chi. Then there's the family bloodline stuff: Shadow Possession Jutsu (Mind Control [is that the right power?] with the limitation, must be touched by ninja's shadow), the Sharingan eye (VPP, only techniques the ninja has watched with the Sharigan eye), can't think of much else.... Then there's the outrageous Summoning Jutsu (Summon, varying degrees of friendliness) made by a pact with extradimensional beings. Some of these can also be used as jutsu -- the Mountain Toad AoE Entangle, frex. Hope that helps.
  20. Re: Champions Universal Deathmatch! Final Round Preview!!!!!!! Or a yak. Yaks are always fun.
  21. Re: The Emergence Of Superhumans IIRC, there was an Elseworlds story which had the exact "ancestor of Superman comes to Earth, stops the American Revolution, and becomes ruler of the British Empire, and fashions have barely changed from then to today." I mean, exactly. Superman's ancestor even carried the Continental Congress (in the whole building!) to England to be executed.
  22. Re: Warp Drive article on the Discovery website IIRC, there was an episode of ST:tNG which showed a Romulan starship powered by a quantum singularity (or "black hole.") Didn't the short-lived mecha spoof Megas XRL have a quantum singularity drive too? ("You'll be sorry! One day you'll have to know what a quantum singularity is....!" [Teacher to lead character Coop.]

Re: Foxbatmite As I said in my rep post, this is the Thing That Should Not Be Done. Does it freak anyone else out how much Foxbatmite is like Ozymandias?
