  1. Barring some marketese somewhere that I don't know about probably the best place for screenshots and features is the documentation itself.
  2. I made some more document changes... I abandoned the writing guidelines in favor of a 2 column layout All spells are now -1 per 20 AP for skill roll penalties Moved some sections around for better readability Moved the work I was doing to write up NYC to its own document I picturefied™ the document (shout out to Jason S. Walters on this one) I'll post the setting book for the game later once I have a little more work to show. So far I wrote up most of the important NPCs in Manhattan. I'll probably stop once I have Manhattan written up in general and not worry about the other boroughs until I actually start playing the game.
  3. I've just been using Notepad++ for my export templates. It's a nice solid editor that I use when I don't feel like using an IDE or in my case spinning up a VM for development. I do all of my development in VMs at home now, I find that it just makes things easy for me...I don't even think I have an IDE installed on my base machine anymore!
  4. 6E Simple Export Template Redux View File A simple export template designed for the Hero System 6th Edition by sentry0. Much like the other simple template I created this uses a clean borderless format for printability Unlike the previous template this template includes hit locations, called shots and range modifiers I went with the classic characteristic block print layout as opposed to breaking it apart into different sections (combat, defenses, etc) Skills, talents and perks are now using a dual column layout Appearance, background, complications etc have been moved to the end of the template Submitter sentry0 Submitted 04/25/2019 Category Export Formats Output Format HTML (Browser) Rules Version HERO System 6th Edition

  6. Congrats, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a physical copy.
  7. I think it largely depends on the genre for me. In games where you're expecting players to pay for everything in points, wealth definitely becomes a flavor tool. That said, a trip on the private plane across the ocean is no big deal, but if it becomes an every day thing I would make them pay points for it. In games where equipment is being used (Heroic, usually) then wealth becomes much more prone for abuse. The character can simply buy potentially game unbalancing gear and services when needed. Like a lot of things in this game it comes down to trust between the GM and the players that things won't be abused.
  8. I've been partial to OpenD6 for the same reasons... easy to learn and Open Gaming License I've always thought it a shame that the system has become so obscure.
  9. Saw it today...not a good reboot IMO...the acting was okay but the story was predictable and the pacing was rushed. I actually turned to my wife in the movie and said to her "Is this bad or is just me?" which is rare, I'll admit my bar is pretty low for Superhero movies. As long as I walk out feeling entertained I'm usually giving the movie a positive review but this one was just a shadow of the original and not in a good way. Definitely not in the same league as the Perlman version of Hellboy. I wouldn't be upset if this shallow reboot was the last in the series...

    Snappy

The site feels really snappy now compared to the old one. Grats on the migration, it seemed like it gave you some grief but it was worth it.
  12. Updated the doc a bit... Changed fonts to be Times New Roman per the writers guidelines Formatted text per the writing guidelines (no spaces between paragraphs, tabs on paragraph start, etc) Updated all spells to use -1 per 20 AP instead of the standard -1 per 10 Updated NPCs Next up I have to come to terms with my love of the word "that"...
  13. I just posted the first version of the export format at: I think the issues with Word have been sorted out based on my conversation with Brian. Everything should be working
  14. Full Characteristics Block (Unofficial) View File Use this template to get a version of the Full Characteristics Block writeups you find in the backs of books. This is a fan made version not the official HERO Games export template. AFAIK there is no standard way of writing out the FCB for 6th edition as each book I looked at was a little different. This is my own personal format that follows the 6e1 book and the Champions Villains books closest. You'll still have to do a some formatting by hand, in particular the Powers and Complications sections will need to be massaged a bit to get them into the proper format. The export format should get you 90% of the way there though, I hope! Submitter sentry0 Submitted 04/15/2019 Category Export Formats Output Format HTML (Browser) Rules Version HERO System 6th Edition

  16. Ah crap.... alright, I'll see what I can do.
  17. What word processing software do you use? I'm asking because I used LibreOffice for this export template...everything should "just work" in MS Word but I would prefer to test it before I post. The file is attached to this post if you or anyone else feels like trying it out. It gets you most of the way there to a back of book write up...certain sections like powers and disads require some after export messaging.
  18. I'm making an RTF version as I write this...better for formatting and cuts out an extra step. It's almost done...having an issue with special characters that I'm trying to sort out.
  19. I saw it last night with my wife and we both quite liked it. It's a good humorous take on what it would be like to have superpowers if you were a kid. I thoroughly enjoyed them abusing his amazing powers to buy beer and candy and all the messing around they did on youtube. A friend of ours saw it with her kids and they all loved it too, I think it's a really solid family movie too.
  20. Not all of the spells are -1 per 10 AP, the more expensive spells are -1 per 20...still I was rounding the penalties wrong in my base spells, I was rounding in the players favor. I revisited the rounding and it ends up equalling 4.81 so I bumped up the % fail column by 1...and FYI I'm throwing out the top 2 and lowest 2 spells in my calculations in both cases. Now I have to go back through the doc and update the spells themselves. I think it's reasonable to assume that if you could do something really cool on demand but it has the potential to do something really horrible you would be judicious about doing it. That's my premise coming into the calculations which I think is reasonable. However, the numbers are getting a little bit too high with that new bump in penalty...I may take you up on your suggestion of going for -1 per 20 across the board, it will get the numbers down to 2.3 using the same assumptions.
  21. That's a nice one but it's not quite what I'm looking for...there are a couple of minor things that don't quite match up to the FCB write ups for 6e. I'm piecing this together based on the writers guidelines for 5th and the tweaked format for 6th. I'm going to post my modded version...it's just a text export but you can copy/paste/modify it and it cleans up nice in a word processor. I have the whole process down to about 5 minutes now
  22. I did, I based my temple off of one I found there. It was already pretty close but it was not quite in the right format in many sections so I ended up modifying it for 6e. I may post it if no one can point me at one.
  23. Is there an export template for the Full Characteristics Block style of write up we find in books? I'm using something I built yesterday but am wondering if there's something official and where would I find it?
