Jagged reacted to Grailknight in Luthors Masterplan in Batman vs Superman
I don't have a problem with Luthor's plan so much as I have a problem with this version of Batman.

Batman, the ultimate Code vs Killing character, deciding to kill someone who has debuted stopping an alien invasion and then spent the next 18 months flying around the world doing good deeds because "he could go bad." Then acting on the decision without having even met the man.  Even Waller would meet him and have "We're watching you conversation" before trying to sanction him.

Batman, the most prepared , best researcher in the history of comics, having no knowledge of any other meta-human's existence and having to steal the information from Luthor, a man who has not discovered any hero's Secret ID in 60 plus years on comics.

Batman, the ultimate stealth hero, who instead of tailing the Kryptonite to the warehouse and  sneaking in to steal it, initiates a running gun battle through a major city using 50-cal machine guns and missiles.

Batman, the world's greatest detective, not having a clue that someone was manipulating him or figuring out Luthor's plan faster than Lois did.

So yeah given this incompetent Batman, Luthor's plan has a chance to succeed but it still shouldn't. No way does one senator get Luthor access to the  Kryptonian ship without jumping through a lot of hoops and a background check from Hell which would probably show him as a risk. And even if he got access, he would never be allowed in without an escort or left unsupervised at any time. This is an actual alien spaceship that crashed to Earth as part of an invasion in a major metropolitan area. the security here would be so black,  light would warp near it.

All of which is kind of beside the point I was trying to make.

Had pigs for example not tasted good to Humans, there would be no feral pigs loose on assorted continents because the pigs wouldn't BE on all continents. They'd  still be rooting around in the same geographic range they had when first domesticated. Chickens would probably be even more restricted in range. Wheat would be a wild grass growing in a certain part of Anatolia and unknown elsewhere.

The trait that enabled these and other species to expand their range and numbers to a global scale, is tasting good.

edit: Actually, it's not entirely beside the point. Matt the Bruins is probably right that the only reason there are 19 billions chickens is that they have been domesticated and are being bred and cared for by Humans. WHY have they been domesticated? Because they and their eggs taste so good.

I wouldn't recommend trying to eat a palindromedary though.

I think you're underselling pigs and chickens somewhat especially the pigs.

The downside of Monday's episode was the disappointing lack of Saturn Girl.

Actually, the bigger issue for me is the relationship they are trying to build between Lena and James. It is interfering with quality Lena/Kara time. Lena and Kara have more chemistry with each other than either of them have (or ever had) with James or Mon-El.

Again, disagree. Textures, padding, geometric contours, placement of tech pieces like wrist bands and shoulder mounts for their backpacks, and especially the shape of their helmets, all look very similar to me, more than enough to suggest a common designer. Color differences don't negate all that IMO. But we clearly perceive this differently, so I won't try to convince you.

I have heard supposedly one of the traits homo sapiens was theoretically supposed have gotten with cross-breeding with Neanderthals was red-hair.  Given my attraction to redheads should I be A)disturbed about myself or B)) thank them for their contribution?

Note: And yes, I still write/type Neanderthal with that h, I did it for the 30 years of my life, and am not changing because of "fickle" scientists.  Deal with it.  Next thing, they will tell me Pluto isn't a planet.......Oh crap.

The prototype Wasp costume teased at the end of Ant-Man was a lot more colorful than this. Based on her character as displayed in that movie, I would assume this color scheme is Hope Van Dyne's choice. In A-M she always wore dark business suits, severe haircut, and an assertive, no-nonsense manner. Which given that Paul Rudd's Scott Lang is often cracking wise, may actually be a good choice to preserve the comedian/straight man dynamic that Ant-Man and Wasp always had in the comics... only with the roles reversed.

IMO, the UI designer and whoever signed off on the project are more at fault. It's possible neither of those is still around. Not scapegoating the poor bastard who got stuck with a poorly implemented UI seems reasonable to me.

I always thought of Luke as being the person who was supposed to bring "balance" of light and dark. He didn't have the weight of centuries of Jedi teachings, so he had love, anger, regret, hope etc still in him, but could get past them to function (sort of like a normal person is supposed to). The Jedi teachings apparently had grown to be to bury all emotions, which is why it had grown stagnant and wanted to start training children prior to age 5 or so. The Sith were supposed to be the exact opposite (strangely then, more Anakin and Kylo then Palpatine or Douku), and all about the more darker emotions. I always figured that's what they meant by balance to the force. Someone who could walk either path, but tended to walk neither, but just stay somewhere in the middle (hopefully more on the side of morality as opposed to light or dark).

We have no evidence (in movie form) that Luke became a paragon of Jedi virtues (like Obi-Wan) after the end of Return of the Jedi. Yes, he stepped back from the edge of giving in completely to the dark side by not killing Vader, but we have no way of knowing if he was able to forever resist his darker impulses afterwords. I think fans just assume that he did, and fiercely protect this mythical version of him. Do we know where Lucas was planning to take the Luke character in his own version of episodes 7-9?

I think what I found most disappointing was that everything after the Dreadnought was destroyed before landing on Krait would have gone as well or better if the main characters (Poe, Finn and Rose) had simply done nothing and sat on their bunks.  The Luke/Rey/Kylo Ren scenes advanced the story.  Poe, Finn and Rose were worse than filler - they caused the detection of the escaping transports.  Heroic Fantasy generally gives the heroes something heroic to do.

Reflecting on it, Luke may have nailed it.  He was a legend.  So were Han, Leia etc..  Are the new characters likely to be legends?  Have they been given anything legendary to do?

In the original trilogy, the characters improvised using the resources they had, and things worked.  The SnowSpeeder cables were effective against the Walkers, for example.  Similar use of the resources given on Krait just got most of the rest of the pilots killed off, without impeding their opponents.  It almost feels like a bad RPG - the players come up with various ideas, all of which come to nothing (or worse, assist the opposition).  Even Rey's noble attempt to turn Kylo Ren just exchanges one Supreme Leader for another.

It feels like the Heroes are not permitted to succeed in being Heroic.  Even a win (the destruction of the Dreadnought) is painted as a loss (all bombers and most fighters destroyed and all we did was buy a little time).

The Rogue 1 characters felt heroic - their sacrifices meant something.

The new trilogy seems to say "it's all futile".  The new characters seem overwhelmed by a no-win situation.

Poes attack did loose them the bulk of the fighters (Kylo took out the rest). But it did kill the Mandator, wich would propably have killed the Radus in less then 3 days during the chase.

Yes he does. When the cancled the attack on teh Assault Ram, that was him learning. Learning that he can not do everything by "hotshoot fliying". That sometimes retreating is the only sensible way.

I do not know how they could have made that clearer.

My $0.02: It's better than any of the prequels (not that that's a particularly high bar to clear....). It's better than The Force Awakens. It might be better than any Star Wars movie not named The Empire Strikes Back.

Yes, it has flaws, some of them really obvious. But I don't really get all the hate here. I saw it, and I loved it.

    YMMV, obviously.

How about they instead stop the Policing from randomly shooting people?

I mean you reached the point where it became likely that someone is getting shoot by the police. That is some seriously fucked up situation.

Calling the Police should have less likelyhood to kill someone then driving drunk or over a red light.

I love the Flash. I also love the Marvel shows. Agents in particular had a strong last season and the new one is looking interesting. Flash is light fun with a strong heart, what's not to love?

These shows, DCU and Marvel, get a fair amount of complaint but I find them comparable or indeed better than much on telly today.

Perhaps its just the fact that this is an introduction for known characters that's bothering people.  FWIW, a horror story involving kids with mutant powers sounds kinda cool to me.
