  1. Re: Lucha Character: Assistance Needed. El Santo himself was written up in the most recent Digital Hero.
  2. Re: Hero 5th vs. M&M As Longshadow's partner/co-author/gaming buddy, and shill for The Man (who happens to be myself in this case), here's a link to our M&M book, The Algernon Files. And we're coming out with other books as fast as we can. Expect two this summer. The idea of publishing Hero stats for our M&M books has come up many times, but is generally show down due to economics. If it takes us 100 hours to stat a book's worth of characters for Hero, we might sell 100 copies of it. But, we could put those same 100 hours into writing a 1/3 or a 1/4 of a brand new book, which we could sell several 100 of, at a higher price, even. But don't give up hope; it still might come to pass. And Hero Games does have an affilate sort of program where publishers could include Hero stats for a very reasonable cut, but it's not the licensing dollars that have held us up so far, it's the word count. We could sell a book of 100 characters with stats in one system, or a book of 50-60 with stats in two systems. Plus, anyone buying a book like that automatically has 1/3 (or whatever size) of the book wasted, since they'll generally be playing under a single system. Back to the topic of preference, I find that M&M combat runs slightly faster than Hero's, but the only real factor is dice-counting. It's quicker to add your bonus to a single d20 and arrive at a total than it is to count 12d6. Both systems have a large array of combat options that can make combat go slower or faster. For character creation, M&M goes a bit faster, but not by as large a margin as it might look from a quick glance at the book. I can create a completed character in Hero in around 40 minutes, and in M&M in around 30. As for my own preference, I lean strongly to Hero, although M&M is my second favorite supers game by a wide margin. I'm always up for a game of whatever system a good GM is willing to run, but when I run my own games, it's almost always Hero (unless I'm specifically playtesting something).
  3. Re: Tentative 2006 Schedule Man, that was freaky. With the font chosen for this site, Tuala Morn looked a whole lot like TUALA MOM instead of TUALA MORN! Anyway, I jumped into the thread, eager to find out whether Ultimate Skill or Horror HERO would be the big release, and they're both there! Woohoo!
  4. My superhero group has decided to brave the supermage's library. Kullervo, the mage, was the guardian of a set of powerful books, which he kept in a mystical dimension accessible from his library. This mantle of guardianship has been passed from supermage to supermage over generations. Talisman, DEMON, and other groups have been after these books for a long time. My mental image was of Ash's quest in Army Of Darkness, mixed in with some bizarre surreal Cthuloid dreamworld kind of stuff. Recently, Kullervo's soul got trapped in a netherdimension, so the rest of the team, at Witchcraft's urging, is going to fetch the books to (a) prevent bad guys from getting it, and ( try to retrieve their friend's soul from Hell. Since decades and perhaps centuries of mages have put up various mystical defenses, tricks, traps, and guardians to keep these books safe, I'd like some suggestions from y'all about ways that the three-day journey might be frought with danger, or at least frought with something.
  5. Re: Props and your PCs In a cartoon game I run sometimes at cons, I make a "YIPE!" sign that I give to Wile E. Coyote's player.
  6. Re: TV Teen Titans Writeups But, instead of playing Robin, he wanted to play Red X in my game. I didn't write him any Psych Lims, since I wanted to see how my boy would play the character first. I also figured it'd be simpler to add a flat bonus to OCV and DCV instead of more traditional CSLs. 7. Re: TV Teen Titans Writeups My 8-year old son recently asked how to play the game he's seen me and my posse playing for years, so I wrote up Robin for him. He did a GREAT job playing him in a bank robbery scenario. First, he went after the guys fleeing down the street with the bags of money, and returned the money to the teller before even going after the guys who were shooting at him. 8. If a character has Personal immunity on his Running and his STR, can he slam into other characters without damaging himself?
  9. For a character to get around on stilts with no penalties, what would he need? TF: Stilts didn't show up in the recreational vehicle list where I thought it might. Besides just a TF, would an EM also be needed? How much?
  10. Re: Non-Duplication Duplication Tricks Are you sure it was only 1997? Wow, it seems a lot longer ago than that...
  11. Re: Sample Oddity From Gestalt-Earth On Champions MUSH, we once fought BreadMaster, who had various food-based powers including an army of Gingerbread Men. When my archer (oh, and the rest of the team, I guess) finally defeated him with a (continuous) fiery arrow, he said, "Give it up, Breadmaster. You're toast."
  12. Re: Stupid Mentalist Tricks In Illegal Aliens, the galactic police carried a telepathic STOP THAT cannon. Mind Control, Telepathic; Set Command ("Stop That"), OAF, Charges
  13. Re: Champs Worldwide: Whaddya want? Seconded. Line drawings with no (or very little) background artwork. I contantly use character pictures to make paper miniatures for my game.
  14. Re: i feel humiliated The unconscious Dr. Destoryer dies while waiting for the authorities to arrive. The autopsy shows that he died from ...poison? No wonder he couldn't put up much of a fight -- he was running a 105 degree temperature and could barely see past the blood in his eyes! The question now becomes: who killed him, and how and way?
  15. Re: Powers with Grouped Similar Effects Personally, I'd like to see Entangle have two separate "modes." It can either restrain or build barriers, decided when the power is purchased, sort of how an Energy Blast can be STUN Only or regular.
  16. One of the downsides of duplication is the fact that recombination stuns the combined character if any of the duplicates were stunned. If all the duplicates are automatons, that is not a problem. Is there some sort of Advantage or Adder that needs to be applied in that case, or is it just a happy byproduct of the specific combination of powers?
  17. Re: Thinking About DARK CHAMPIONS BATTLEGROUNDS Rapier took my idea. Put the combo hotel/casino on a cruise ship. Even though Hudson City doesn't support gambling, since it's a port city it could have a ship that docks once each afternoon then sails out to international waters and opens up the casino. That would give you the chance to map out a ship, a hotel, and a casino. Just throw in enough optional bits that the three parts could be used standalone or mix/matched. Plenty of reusability, and also throws in the opportunity for water-based games. I also love the police station idea, and have a few more ideas for smaller maps, but we'll save that for later. My other suggestion would be to limit the book to two major map/adventures, and instead of a third scenario, give us more maps and plot seeds.

  19. Re: Goofy Villains The current villain in my campaign steals body parts from superhumans and attaches them to himself. Sort of a piecemeal Rogue. He's called... Piecekeeper.
