I learned to add to 250 in my head really fast.

That turned out to be a very useful skill when I took accounting classes. :D

Anika Hensley, aka Lady Unluck, is widely regarded as the most unfortunate mutant heroine of the modern age.

To date, her “Staff of Power” has been documented to have set fire to her own wings no less than nine times, with two of those times winning the weekly prize on America’s Funniest Superhero Videoes. (Note the characteristic charring on her once angelic white wings.)

Of special interest to fans of superheroics, the name “Lady Unluck” is not Anika’s name for herself. But every attempt to record, transmit, and/or broadcast that other name has resulted in spectacular accidents which have prevented that name from becoming known. Most news outlets know to bleep out her official superhero name when she says it...at least since the infamous WKRP incident of 2013.

But despite her somewhat...uneven... record of battling villainy, Anika is still out there fighting the good fight and searching for any team which might someday be brave enough allow her onto the roster.

... and now I want to know about the infamous WKRP incident.  I'm imagining something along the lines of:

Les Nessman:  "Oh my goodness! Oh, the humanity! People are running about| Turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement!"

It also depends on how much personal experience you have with a subculture before you can accurately identify which behaviors  are caricatures of reality and which are reality.

If the OP would like a website to spend a few weeks researching typical behavior, I can give him a link.

I guess it depends if you're going for the caricature of a paranoid idiot prepper or someone who is genuinely trying to ready for a disaster event.  The one will have more psych comps and random dumb stuff (big cans of emergency food supplies, etc) and the other will have learned lots of skills like how to make your own paper and build a shelter.

archer reacted to sinanju in Civilians on a Starfleet vessel: what do they do?
The Enterprise sure as **** is a military vessel. They have a military system of ranks and chain of command. They operate under military discipline. They are tried, when necessary, in a court *martial*, not a civilian court. The ship is heavily armed, and provides military defense for the area of space in which it operates. The Captain is vested with the power, on his own authority, to wage WAR on other powers. That is a military vessel, no matter how much they may pretend otherwise. And none of this a "rewriting" of Starfleet--this is all straight out TOS.

For sniper examples in a Western setting, I'd look at Quigley Down Under starring Tom Selleck. The Sharps rifle doesn't get the exposure in popular movies that it deserves.

You know, a complete disconnect between the stated "style" and the list of maneuvers purchased is neither unheard of nor problematic. Put together the list of maneuvers that appear to give you the proper power in play, and then call it whatever you want. Considering the character you mentioned, it should be an aggressively athletic style that combines powerful strikes and the ability to contend with multiple attackers. I would suggest Tiger Claw Kung Fu. The only thing you need (other than the KS) would be to describe the clawed hand attacks used in combat.

The no MP will screw some decent low-power concepts.  i would recommend all MP need at least a global -1/2 and each slot a -1.  Then you can have your trick archer or UT belt character.

Unless you are charging substantially more than the normal 3pts this skill is way over powered.   I would probably charge somewhere around 30pts for this skill.

Many of the things you want to do are already covered by the rules, or can be with some creative interpretation by the GM.

The social skill aspect could be a form of striking appearance.  Some of the other things could be done with luck with religious restrictions.  Also most of these should be done as spells instead of being granted by the skill itself.  Honestly with this skill the only thing the cleric is going to have to purchase spells for is direct combat and healing.

I’d do a dancing sword something like this:

    PS: Tap Dancing
    PS: Ballroom Dancing
    PS: Latin Dancing
    PS: Folk Dancing

Flight 3” (Only up to 6 feet high)

An embedded “Computer” enchantment so it knows when to start and stop, plus where it has room to dance (some dances like the tango and quick step require a lot of room).

If you want it to dance to musical accompaniment, some GM’s might make you buy normal hearing for it but I’d throw that in for free. YMMV

Come to think of it, you could buy it as a vehicle since many dances require that you pick up and move your partner.

Outside of doing rewrites of existing agencies, I’d like to see a private for-profit agency which looks for applications of superpowers for real world purposes. Then the agency goes out and recruits the super for the job whether the super was a hero or villain.

I had an agency called S.P.I.R.E. (Super Powers Investgative Research Enterprises) which did that.

For example, they might find a religious organization which was wanting to build a temple on a mountaintop then find a super who could carry 50 ton blocks of stone up a mountainside and bring them together.

Or bring together people who can work easily underwater with groups doing underwater research. Or bring together supers who access inter-dimensional energy with programs looking at such energies.

In my campaign, SPIRE would contact villains while in prison and assess their suitability for employment. Then show up at parole hearings for some of them to testify on behalf of the convict and promise him immediate employment if released immediately. Or in a few situations, actually provide legal help to the prisoner.

It’d tick off the heroes who mostly wanted villains to stay in jail. But some villains actually reformed. And other villains who weren’t actively being hunted by the police at that point in time would contact SPIRE first when they needed money rather than starting a crime spree.

And SPIRE offered career and emotional counseling for any super regardless of ability to pay or whether the super agreed to work for SPIRE or not.

For a villains book, the ultimate goal of the organization would have to change, of course.

In addition to all its legitimate activity, It would be falsely testifying at parole hearings in order to get unrepentant villains released. Perhaps it also secretly helps recruit supers for illegal activities Perhaps its counseling services tries to identity psychological weaknesses, uncover secret identities, etc. Perhaps it offers free medical services or otherwise tries to collect supers’ DNA for their own use or for sale.

There’s a lot of possibilities for an organization which cultivated an image of respectability and which has extensive contact with supers on both sides of the law.

Healing is one of those self-inflicted problems that Fantasy Hero has always had.  First of all, it matters whether you're playing with hit locations and bleeding or not, and whether your healing spell is per-injury or not.  Then somewhere along the line it was decided to roll Healing into Aid, causing it to get caught up in all the efforts to fix Aid (which was admittedly broken).  At this point if it's 1st ed FH, I might know how Healing works, and if it's any other version, I definitely do not know how Healing works.

archer reacted to Christopher R Taylor in Module Conversions
I have done a few module conversions on my website from AD&D (and Warhammer Quest) into Fantasy Hero.  They are kind of rough but playable quick converts.  I have done the following:

N1: Against the Cult of the Reptile God
    N2: The Forest Oracle
    N4: Treasure Hunt
U1: The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh
    U2: Danger at Dunwater
    U3: The Final Enemy
G1: Steading of the Hill Giant Chief
G2: Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl
    B2: Keep on the Borderland
    I3: Pharaoh
A1: Slave Pits of the Undercity

I have work started on A2, I4, and G3, to continue and finish those series, but are there any other modules people would really like to see?  Hint: I don't care to rebuild any of the S series.
