BoloOfEarth reacted to Lucius in Random Television Quotes
"Did you see the sun rise today?"
"Why yes, I did."
"Thank you." BANG!
Lucius Alexander
The palindromedary thinks if that scene isn't famous it ought to be.

BoloOfEarth got a reaction from Christopher in Supers Image game
Steven Farraday was a mild-mannered comic book writer and illustrator, quietly inking the latest issue of "Defenders of Justice" when the local particle accelerator blew up. The resultant energy release caused many in the city to get superpowers, including Farraday and his faithful feline companion Sparky, who were both doused in the inks Farraday was using. The two can now call forth animated illustrated versions of themselves to fight crime. (The animated versions are just different enough from normal that nobody has yet connected them to Farraday and his cat.) As Champion and Sparks, the two are stalwart Defenders of Truth, Justice, and Freedom.

Or when you spend a half hour clearing the base of your driveway, and the snow plow goes down your street ten minutes later and re-buries the base of your driveway.

My daughter bought and built a STEM toy (a motorized Gatling nerf gun). While loading it...
"I just realized I'm pointing this thing at my face while I'm loading it. Not a good idea."
"Safety is #6, Dad."

Well, I did joke one time, that if you have a wife, you should carry a gun with one bullet. Because one day she will ask if she looks fat, and you don't want to be taken alive.

BoloOfEarth reacted to Doc Democracy in Free Equipment - Pros & Cons
Ah. My common communication to my players is that anything I "give" them I can take away. I promise that they will have an opportunity for gear to come into their possession but they should not rely on the fact that it will stay there forever. Money is especially difficult - large amounts of gold are not always with you and leaving it anywhere in a world filled with adventurers is "risky". Some of the stuff they have found and own was someone else's and will probably be someone else's at a point in the future.
In D&D I seek to provide kit that matches the level of the adventure they are involved in and, if they have suffered a recent loss, the next patron is likely to have some things that they can take to use in their mission. I really want them to get into the idea that some things are ephemera but I need to be responsive to the fact that some things are signature items for the character, like the cloak of feather fall that the roguish warrior had, to enable him to escape from the boudoirs of beautiful women he had seduced and whose husbands had come home unexpectedly. When everything else went, the cloak was always retrieved or replaced.

If we assume that everyone has a smartphone, then we should assume that Long Wave also has a smartphone. But on top of that, his power isn't something that will break if you drop it or fall on it wrong, or get hit in the pocket; it won't run out of battery. He'll probably have access to all of the networks. He never has to say "Can you hear me now?"
The point is, if it's normal equipment, it's normal. Subject to the GM's whim. If he's paid points for it, then by definition it's special. No, you don't pay the difference; you shouldn't be paying points for a cell phone, but Long Wave's tap-into-the-cell-network power is better in all respects than a cell phone.

I found that amusing, but I'm mildly disturbed by how each of them has one eye floating in space above their nose.

Finally getting back into gaming, running D&D 5e's The Sunless Citadel. The PCs have just encountered the kobold Meepo, who has agreed to take them to see his leader. There's a password he shouts every once and again.
Meepo: "Meepo will say (word) sometimes. Is sa--password."
Me OOC: "I almost said safeword. That's just not right."
Jeff OOC: "That's a whole 'nother kind of dungeon."

And humor. I remember the running gags in Lois and Clark with his often-lame excuses to duck out, the interactions between other characters ("Is he always like this?" [nods] "You have no idea."), and eventually Lois covering for him once she learned Clark was Superman.
Yep. There comes a point where realism (whether in a game, movie, or comic book) can be more hindrance than help.

BoloOfEarth reacted to Hermit in Political Discussion Thread (With Rules)
Those praising this in the name of their religion are being incredibly short sighted. While I think Christianity is not going anywhere soon, there are more 'nones' in American demographics when it comes to religion every year: People who are atheists, agnostics, 'spiritual but not religious', or of a less populated religion but don't wish to come out just yet. Add to that those who are openly of a non Christian faith, and it's entirely possible that in a 100 years, while Christianity won't be gone, it will be a 'large minority' or LESS.
Now that we've set the precedent of religions being somewhat interchangeable, well, the shoe might end up on the other foot. If we still have the death penalty in a hundred years, some Christian fellow being put to death might have to accept the state handing him over to whatever Hare Krishna ,Wiccan Priestess, or yes, Imam is handy and convenient for said State. The Right to Freedom of Religion just took a hard blow here, and sadly, some very short sighted morons are cheering it on.
Speaking as a person who tries to honor Christ (Terrible at it but hey), I just want to wipe the dirt from my sandals and walk away from this at this point, but this is my country and I'm stuck with them. ?
So for me, I offer up Thoughts, Prayers... oh, and VOTING as much as I can as ineffective as that feels

Well, the obvious choice for an enemy group is Road Kill.
Another possibility is Deathstroke. You can go old-school and use the 2E versions with Deathsinger, Frost, Arrowhead, et al. Heck, if you have the 2E module, you could revamp that and run it - IMO it has the feel of an 80s superhero cartoon.
