Asperion reacted to Logan D. Hurricanes in Jokes
Wife: Did you steal my thesaurus?
Me: That is a remarkably pejorative manner in which to insinuate my culpability.

125 pts is quite doable. I have made powerful normals who can take out most agents and even your standard fantasy mage with effectively this level of points.

I have always believed that is the standard for your normal gm, author, blogger, or general creative.

This is why mystics tend to remain in the castle making the tools and supplies rather than going into the field. Most (if not all) actual combat takes place with normal humans who have no magical ability, only the supplies and knowledge gained from their scouts and mystics.

Now that this topic is completely derailed -
One possible suggestion would be to make magic have a subtle effect on the world. Instead of allowing things like fireball or magic missile, make it so that spellcasters are performing more things like communication spells, health spells (require medical skills), combat abilities would be along the lines of enhancing the natural abilities of weapons and people rather than straight combat abilities.

One of the more interesting powers is Desolidification. With this power, one can travel through solid materials as though they don't exist, most attacks ignore them, along with a host of other advantages. Many individuals have created several creative ways to use this power beyond the basic ability, such as the well defined phase-strkie or locking others in the ground. What are some rather unique options that you have developed for your games? How have these characters played out in both the long and short term? Other comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Anytime you are involved in any debate, everyone gets to talk, except you.

Sometimes the best experiences that I have had revolved around low powered magical items that seemed useless. They actually had more of an impact than something more powerful that everyone looks for.

I know what current copyright laws say, but I believe that they have gotten to be too strong in the way of mega corporations and uber wealthy. This gets to the point of coming as close to ignoring the common person as they legally can. What I believe should be done is to rewrite the copyright laws so that starting the day the law is written or material is copyrighted, a 50 year clock is started. There can be ONE renewal if the original author is still alive and they can prove that there is still strong need for the ORIGINAL work, NO MODIFICATION ALLOWED. If it has been modified, then it can't be put up for renewal.

KFC has only one spice - salt. Those other spices that I referred to was when I am making something at home. While there are quick service restaurants in the town that I live in, I dislike all of them and only go to the restaurants that are owned locally, if any at all.

I've done this several times. It has been fun watching the PCs look at this mook that not long ago they took out with one casual blow now not only can take that blow but can return it and dish out a rather impressive blow in return.

I used the European example since that is where most fantasy games tend to be located. By moving to other parts of the globe, (let's try the Americas) we will find much activity at this same time. The Olmecs rose and fall giving rise to several others that later European explorers discover. Even North America is a flurry of activity with several tribes rising and falling in that thousand year period. Effectively the entire continent is traveled and documented before Columbus was even born. There can be other comments made for other regions of the globe as well.

I usually call for a basic detail of the different societies around, types of creatures that can be either played or encountered by the players, and what religions would be likely to be worshiped and how. None of this calls for a hard map or breakdown, something general would work.

I have always attributed this concept to the way that people tend to think about the Dark Ages. They went on for such a long time that they seemed endless. In actually they were 1000 years, not several millennia. Also people tend to attribute this time with extreme stagnation in everything. All aspects of society were different coming out than they were going into this time. Some examples were the appearance and destruction of the Vikings (who found the Rus society), the French empire of the 700's that led to modern Europe among much more. Surprisingly, this was the best time for trade and travel, not military conquest.

U.S. press is still too wrapped up in this idea that Trump can do no wrong that when something like this happens, the only way people in America can discover that it happened is through international media. American media will only point out things that make him look good.
