I think I need two picks to be even. I would like to grab the Red Rube for a hero, and the Red Skull for my villain

    From my youth group game:

    Red Cloak (sorcerer type) :
I  can totally snare them all!  Watch!  I draw my silver spider amulet, (grabs dice) leap into the room, with the amulet primed, and cast (rolls 18 on his Activation roll)....  Aspersions...  On all of them...  And their families.....

Red Cloak again (the oldest player, at fourteen, and the slowest to come around, but he's really been on fire the last couple of sessions) :

Now I suggest you all surrender, immediately, and this will be over painlessly.

Thug leader:  If you could back that threat up, you'd have done something already.  Get him, Boys!

Red Cloak:  there is a very good reason I don't just fill this chamber with lightning bolts and electrocute you all! (player pauses, thoughtfully for a moment, the resumes).  Fortunately, I don't remember it right now. (rolls dice)

Based out of Las Vegas, the local CSI has an appetite for justice, a nose for trouble, and enough muscle to make a mob hitman sit up and take notice.  Roaming the dark underbelly of the Queen of the Desert, Grizzley Gill solves crimes as only a werebear can.

The Crowley Special Investigators are private detectives that are also magicians solving weird crimes and stopping monsters. Who are these master of the mystic arts that are inspired by television detectives?

H&R Block did mine earlier this week.

We had outlandishly huge medical expenses last year (like around 35% of our gross income) which was the only reason we didn't owe a lot on our taxes. (This year we were no longer eligible for a couple of credits we'd been getting in recent years, though the change in the law wasn't the reason for that.)

Though the tax prep person did point out a couple of places where the change in the law benefited us such as dropping a tax bracket.

Finally getting back into gaming, running D&D 5e's The Sunless Citadel.  The PCs have just encountered the kobold Meepo, who has agreed to take them to see his leader.  There's a password he shouts every once and again.
Meepo: "Meepo will say (word) sometimes.  Is sa--password."
Me OOC: "I almost said safeword.  That's just not right."
Jeff OOC: "That's a whole 'nother kind of dungeon."

Right now the Bierce stories I write have five Earths touching each other at a school. One is the Main line where Jack Dragon, The Leaguer, Johnny Shield, the Strangers, the Aces, and the Aces among other operate. Then the twin line is where the history is reversed where Jack Dragon is a super scientist instead of a magician, and so forth. But changes have been made like the Dialer is still alive from the Twin dimension while he is dead on the main line. Then a third earth has heroes who have nothing in common with the main or twin line. This was the home of the Visage, who died saving the world. A fourth has no magic or heroes. The US government created power suits during WW2, but the war was stopped when an alien plant invaded and everyone had to work together. Most of Europe and parts of other continents were devastated. The last Earth is the home of Alchemy based science where the Royal Family have ruled for decades as superhuman forces for good.

    It's all right.
Ann Coulter is just another flat earther/bigfoot hunter to me.  I deal with people like her at work all the time. Most of the time, it's low key, but tonight I got this guy telling me they didn't put immigrant kids in dog kennels when news agencies from around the world were covering the story. I saw stories from Japan on this on PBS. Downtown Brown stopped me from going nuclear. I was like thanks Katie for stepping in. She was like you can't argue with the ignorant. People like Coulter are the same way. You can't point out how wrong they are in things because to them it's all fake news, and unproven democratic conspiracies. Some of it is willful, and some of it is what let's me sway the masses with my opinion.

Not only is it not their job, it'd be incredibly irresponsible of them to do so.  Any concessions would merely empower the GOP to take the government hostage over and over and over again.  On top of that, Trump is impossible to negotiate with because he's unable to negotiate in good faith.  He changes positions more often than he changes his underwear.  Just look at the negotiations leading up to this shutdown, where he proudly proclaimed he'd take ownership of it and then turned around and blamed the Democrats for it a couple of days later.  I can't think of a more clear cut situation where negotiations should not even be attempted.

Just to be clear, the bill DID have funding for border security. As have previous bills agreed to by both parties. The sticking point is NOT border security but is said to be the wall. I suspect that isn't it either. I think Trump and the senate Republicans know an open government speeds up and puts the focus back on his campaign's dealings with Russia and Trump's financial issues. Anything to delay and obstruct that area of questioning is where we stand now. Again, Trump and the Republicans had 2 years to bring this up and didn't. It is not about the wall.

Border security was offered. Trump said no. If Trump and McConnell were gone, the government would reopen as soon as the the new senate majority leader  passed the vote, and the new president signed the paperwork. One of the CRs sent back was held by the GOP before Congress was seated.

Basically the Democratic Congress voted on a bill that the GOP came up with and McConnell is like I am going to let this expire so Trump won't veto it.

You can't get a better compromise than that.

Actually the house already sent three reopen the government bills to the Senate. Mitch McConnel has refused to bring them to the floor to be voted on. That's why some of the democrats in the senate have started #Where'sMitch on Twitter
