Were those really good movies, or did Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Justice League just lower the bar that a half way decent episode of Flash would be considered worth watching?

MLB in one of the shows was talking about defensive runs saved. One of the guys mentioned that one first baseman had way more DRS then Paul Goldschmidt, because baseball really doesn't recognize when someone who can catch at first and undervalues their defense. He showed that in 2018 the cardinals infield was one of the worse for errors, 2019 one of the best. the difference, Paul Goldschmidt at first being able to catch the ball not thrown directly at him.

The way that I have always seen this is that one might start off in stated prebuilt universe but as the campaign progresses it will take on more aspects that were never intended to be in that universe, regardless of how hard one sticks to the universal core. This is why I will always say that I model my campaign after stated story but be willing (even encourage if not make intended) to way from the core and introduce things that were never intended to be there, like putting teleportation systems into Star Wars.

Michael Dunn's Dr. Loveless was a marvelous villain: brilliant, charismatic, sinister, yet pathetic and tragic at the same time. It's a deep pity that such a talented actor (and singer) was so restricted in his roles by his size, and that he died so young.

My comment about Lovelace is that I felt his disfigured psychopath was a slap in the face to the character played brilliantly by Michael Dunn (who famously learned to do his own stunts because everyone else did and earned Robert Conrad's and the stunt men's respect).

The desperate bid to change the movie's fortune by calling it Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey has failed, prompting the studio to change it yet again.  It will now be known as Marvel's Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey.  When asked about violating Marvels copyright a studio spokesman said "Copyright, Smopyright!"

The trailer turned me off. Cassandra's take was the same as mine. What I said in The Discord got me a warning. But I will say it here as it is just my opinion. I will not go see another modern feminist power fantasy.  Usually they have a lot of angry Mary Sues.  The two main indicators of such movies are, all men are bad or incompetent, and the protagonists  have limited if any flaws. Wonder Woman was not this as she dealt with her male colleagues as individuals, and she was mislead by her idealism, and inexperience with the world. This idealism was contrasted by Hypolita's cynicism , but it inspired those around Diana.

on a serious note,  that is one thing that bothers me with current cinema.   You can back throughout cinema history and find  strong female characters  (hell, like 99% of Maureen O'Hara* characters alone, for example) who were compelling characters.    Girl Power has become a way to make a "strong" female character without making them compelling, or strong for that matter (other than as an informed attribute)

*I could also go with Barbara Stanwyck, Katherine Hepburn, and a half a dozen others.

Just thinking about the sex scene from Do The Right Thing still gets me a little twitterpated.  Also, I like women around my own age.  I am funny that way.

Is it just me, or is Harley Quin rapidly going the way of Wolverine, Gambit, and Deadpool before her: Overhyped, overexposed, and when it comes right down to it, frankly not that interesting a character?

Oh, and we can throw Batman himself in what that lot too, as far as I'm concerned.

On a personal level, a lot of it sucked. I was bullied a lot, particularly in jr. high. As a military dependent and an introvert I made friends at the speed of rare only to have those rare friends whisked away by yet another move. High school was better, though I would love to be able to go back and warn my younger self of some of the screw ups I was making.

And yet, nostalgia is a heck of a drug. I was proud of my country. I had faith in the future that it would get better.
    I miss that faith.

The music was good, I liked big hair bands, and a lot of the movies. The Olympics were awesome, the space shuttle program had me enthused until the Challenger disaster and even after, technology was leaping ahead in amazing ways.

    So early 80s C +, Late 80s B-

Or is it the other way around? 😕

That is one horrible looking Bat-suit. It'd be nice for a movie to have a suit that looks like the character can actually move in. Plus, what are the protrusions on the Bat-logo?

A fond memory from childhood is me and my younger brother playing "Wild Wild West" out in the backyard.  One of the first things I learned when I picked up the bass guitar was the WWW theme song.  Last year I binged on the entire series, I hadn't seen any of them since the '70s.  Some hold up, others don't, but it was a great ride reliving those after-school memories.  And I maintain the title sequence and the framing device used heading into commercial breaks is still one of the best of any TV show ever.

I'm subscribed to four paid services, and my total is much lower than what I was paying when I had cable.Everything's on-demand, so I watch when I want. I still get discs from Netflix, so stuff that isn't on the main streaming can often be added to my disc queue.

I supplement that with free services through my library district. Kanopy is a service that has foreign film, classic movies (including Criterion Collection releases), and documentaries. AcornTV has a bunch of British series, and Hoopla has a mix of movies, TV, music, comics, audiobooks and ebooks. And there's always the DVDs available for checkout at the local branches.

I'm also a collector of physical media, so if all else fails, I can always pop in a disc and watch something good.

For me, Dazzler herself was born and raised in Cheeseville.  It's like someone said, "We need a disco-based character, because all the kids are into that disco stuff.  So what can we do?"  "I dunno, how about someone on roller skates?  I mean, sure, Iron Man's rocket skates were the lamest thing he had..."  "Lets have her convert sound to light, so she's a walking, er, I mean skating disco ball?"

I built an NPC villain (Common Man, of the Boston Commons), with Duplication up to 128 copies, all Mind Linked and able to Megascale teleport to the base character's location as well as a floating location, and each with their own set of 3 skills in addition to some skills and martial arts maneuvers common to all.  Not duplicated, his stats are pretty good - something like 45 STR, 31 DEX, 31 CON, etc. - but they go down as the number [doublings] of active duplicates go up (40 STR, 28 DEX, etc. with 1 duplicate, 35 STR, 25 DEX, etc. with 2-3 duplicates, 30 STR, 22 DEX, etc. with 4-7 duplicates, all the way down to normal stats (10 STR, etc.) with 65-128 duplicates.  And you're right -- with only 4-7 duplicates, his Teamwork roll is 13- and his coordinated martial arts attacks can be pretty nasty.

When he only had 32 duplicates, I gave them the names of the extra-dimensional aliens from the Buckaroo Banzai movie (John Smallberries, John O'Connor, John Manyjars, John Bigboote', etc.), pulled from a screenshot of the computer screen when Buckaroo's people hacked into Yoyodyne's computer.

In the "cheesy-munchkiny" part, he has a skills VPP (he can access the skills of the duplicates that aren't active).  Since those skills are almost always at 11- for any given duplicate, it's not incredibly powerful, but it does give him access to practically any skill on the list.
