Casca Rufio Longinus was born during the time of the Caesar’s. Upon reaching manhood he joined the military and was assigned to the 10th legion and sent to Jerusalem.  It was there on a fateful day, where he was given command of a execution detail and told to crucify three prisoners.  One of whom was Jesus Christ.

Wanting only to finish this grisly work and get out of the hot sun, Casca decided on the small mercy of finishing the suffering of his charges. He ended the lives of the first two with a swift stab of his spear.  As he went to finish the third, the man looked down and said “Since you are content to be what you are, so you shall be until my return.” Casca struck and the man’s blood flowed down the spear and onto his hand.  While wiping sweat from his face, Casca tasted the blood and was forever changed.

Now immortal, he wanders the world going from conflict to conflict, always a soldier, never resting.  He feels all the pain of his wounds but he always heals and continues on to the next battle, the next war.  Dogging his steps all the way is a sect of religious fanatics calling themselves The Brotherhood of the Lamb.  They worship the Spear as a holy icon. They follow and torment Casca when they can find him believing that he will someday lead them to the resurrection.

Putting the Spear on display in a New York museum was their plan to draw Casca out of hiding in order to locate him once again....until fate stepped in.  Now this powerful holy object is in danger of being used to do an ultimate evil.

I never thought of this until you asked for a missing piece.  But it fits perfectly.  Thanks.

Today is the day you can make your last pick!

Wednesday, January 19th: The Missing Piece

Whatever you need to complete your story, pick it today.

Got an inspiration.  Now to figure out how to retrofit the inspiration into the collection of spare parts I have on hand.  Hmm.

Title: Stargate Exploration Taskforce Initiative (SETI).

The Stargate was not found in Egypt, but a little further south in Wakanda. The Black Panther of Wakanda inherited Earth's Stargate and using his nations vast resources created a new agency/team the Stargate Exploration Taskforce Initiative (SETI). SETI is "grey ops" (black ops that is open). Leading SETI, King T'Challa is joined by neurosurgeon Dr Stephen Strange, museum curator Diana Prince, space-archaeologist Thor Odinson, and space-diplomat Col Carol Danvers USAF. SETI's mission is to explore the galaxy through the Stargate Network and proactively safeguard Earth through acquisition of resources and forging alliances. The secondary initiative is to be the galaxy's premier superteam in the style of The Ultimates (not the Ultimate Universe Avengers knockoff).

The Horde? The Apocolypse? The Imperium?

After defeating the rival System Lords of the Zoltar-Zarkon Alliance, the Thanos Imperium, The Horde, the Gamilons, The Comet Empire, the Decepticons, the Romulans, the Skrulls, and the Kree Empire, their only rivals for total galactic dominance were the Jedi-Lantern Rebellion, and a wee planet called Earth. Who are they?

The name best known by is The Galactic Empire. Their leader (Emperor-Horde Prime) is Darth Apokolips, aka Darkseid of Death Star. Darkseid'sable second in command, Darth Skeletor of Red Lantern, is tasked to find the Anti-Life Equation, a formular incantation that will bind the Chromatic Lanterns into the Black Lantern.

Alternatively, The Jedi-Lantern Rebellion seek the Life Equation -- a metallurgical process that changes the colour of the Chromatic Lanterns into the White Lantern. This they believe will give them the needed power to successfully overthrow the Empire once and for all: by unifying the spectrum of their lightsabers & power rings to the colour white. The problem? This metallurgical process requires vibranium to which they have none and do not know where to find if, or even if it exists.

(sorry Commissioner, I ran out of Option picks).

Let me go over what I have.

The setting is Cleveland, Ohio. It's up on the Great Lakes which is the stomping grounds of the Great Lake Avengers. Mr. Immortal was their founder and team leader at one point. His main power is to come back to life whenever he is killed. It's possible that events in Cleveland would have drawn his attention.

Mister E was a detective that investigated minor monsters and Scooby scams with his secretary and his assistant. He claimed that he could see the good and bad in people even though he was blind. No real name given. No other powers shown. For some reason, Neal Gaimon gave him time travel and future sight so he could kill Tim Hunter at the end of the universe, but I am going back to the original low key monster hunter.

The Femme Fatale is retired super criminal turned adventurer Modesty Blaise. While she doesn't commit planned crimes like she used to, she does mix it up against other criminals and organizations with the help of her assistant Willie Garvin. Basically she was Red Reddington before there was ever a Blacklist.

I picked the Creeper as my brawler since DC has decided that Jack Ryder can't hold a job because they made him a split personality. Essentially he is the Kolchak of the DCU, moving from job to job, city to city because he ticks people off, and then they declared that every time he becomes the Creeper, he is high on drugs so he has no control over what he is doing. So working in Cleveland is just the newest thing for Ryder.

I don't know why I picked Usagi Tsukino, Sailor Moon except that she was a reincarnation of a moon princess from a moon kingdom and punishes monsters in the name of the Moon. Vacationing in Cleveland might be because of a warning being sent out to her advisors.

The Big Bad is the Kingpin. His position as the ruler of the New York underworld means that he has probably dealt with Modesty Blaise and the Creeper at some point. It gives him the wherewithal to hire Captain Boomerang and move him from Central City, Kansas to Ohio. And he has been revealed to be using the Tracksuit Mafia as his lower level gangsters to get things done. So what's in Cleveland that could attract his attention and cause a slew of random strangers to team up against him?

I am stating as part of the draft that Fisk has heard of the Pillars of New York under Manhattan. The story is that the island is held up by columns deep below the city and if anything should happen to them, the island will sink into the ocean and rivers. Maybe Fisk has actually seen these columns, or come across proof when Graviton lifted New York into the air. I think my missing piece is that Fisk has heard about a similar thing in Cleveland and has decided to see if he can blackmail the city over it.

I think my last piece is going to be the Cleveland Hellmouth from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

That's a long winded thing there.

I still need a title. I always have problems with the titles. Maybe Great Lakes Sailor Scouts will do.
